Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Miller is versatile, he cant play half forward and he is limited down back. FCS what dont you know about Bizzell yet?

Do you think McLean is any good given Miller is an up and coming star?

Bizzell has had one game in the AFL in basically two years, obviously his first game back wasnt ideal but its an entirely different league playing AFL as opposed to VFL and I think he deserves a couple more games to come good before he is forced into retirement. We arent playing with toys here this is a real persons career and he deserves a chance I think.

I think McLean is a fanastic player and he gets all the glory and Miller gets all the crap and its not fair

I dont advocate 'tanking' as that is simply playing to lose..togain the draft picks

.........

"I wouldnt even really bother trying to win per se at the moment..."

If we are not playing to win we are playing to lose..

That's a tank.

Bizzell ate up those chances with some ordinary performances in 2004 and 2005. His use by date is up. He held the Club over a barrel three years on his contract. He has not delivered.

The two most important things ND said last night were:

1. He will not seek the coaching position next year unless he feels he is the right person for the job

2. He will continue to build the team as if he was coaching the next 3 or 4 years

ND is not coaching to save himself. That is a massive positive for the club and a testament to his character.

At last, an accurate reporting of ND's comments and intent.

Well done there Gouga - i was starting to think I had watched a diffferent show.

The comments about planning for 2008, irrespective of the chances of re-appoinment, gave me much hope for the remainder of the season.

allow me to expand..

you can go ot there trying to shore up a side with some 'rose-coloured' view that you might get somewhere this season, or you can start to asemble the 'new' team...a team with real chance of going forward through 2008 and beyond.

its a low and steady climb often with not much result at first, until the gears mesh and the machine becomes whole.

you are NOT playing to lose... but you are simply trying to play good cohesive football with purpose. If you happen to win , all well and good...a bonus if you wish.

its not as simple as if you are not playing to win .. then you are playing to lose.

First of all you actually have to play..and play well...instead of fumbling and misdirection of basic skills !!

You again assume..then make comment.. Id suggest you lay of assumptions.. you know the old adage

Your sarcasm is so hilarious please teach me wise one!

Your negativity is a bloody joke

And your knowledge of football, player development and list management is worse.

And if we are gonna get Judd lets trade Bell and others at his level

I am not having a dig at him but he has played less football than Miller therefore I feel more ideal to be traded

I agree that you have to give something to get something, but Bell CANNOT be the answer. He'll hurt us in the long run. He's had a number of years on the list, and all that's going to happen is that we'll end up with another Thompson. We'll have developed him, and he'll star for whatever club he goes to. He's been smashing opponents from pillar to post in an undermanned and useless team, with only sporadic help in his 3rd of the ground. Imagine where we'd be without him... Then imagine our chances next year without him... then imagine the HB line Bell, Rivers, Petterd. It'll run for 8 more years, maybe more.

Nope. Bell stays.

Thanks Gouga and The Paul Gardiner....... It is reassuring for us that were unable to see to show to know it wasn't all doom and gloom. I have a lot of respect for ND and I find if offensive the way so many of the posters on here are so quick to bag him and all of our players - wow! half of them can't even spell or produce a post with correct english, let alone kick a footy. It is always so easy to dish it out to those on the field when you are sitting in the Grandstand!

I have faith - any team in history with as many injuries as we have had, would stuggle. We showed last week that we can be competitive - bring on the rest of the season.........

Frawley has been injured, played his first game for the seaseon in the sandy magoos and got sent to hospital with concussion and a broken nose (i think)

Hughes and neaves are rookies.

Correct me if i am wrong but left to play on senior list are

Bartram (injury)

Weetra (injury)

Frawley (1st week back)

Neville

Newton

Buckley

I would say pretty soon everyone but Neville and Weetra will have played.

Alright, since you asked, Bartram has already played and im a bit worried that Neale doesnt even know how many players he's played this year, its actually 35.

Ol Blighty, as did Thomas suffered from what can only be described as a close encoutner with what is the AFL's answer to the bermuda triangle..... Linton Ave !!

I'd certainly entertain Blight, might put the fear of god up some which is quite ironic given our current preacher!!

It is not about tanking . It is about making business decisions regarding going forward. The most important thing about a business (incl footy clubs) is perpetuating 'business continuity'. ie, mergers etc.

The responsible position to take is to decide who will not be at the club next year and or assist to obtain a flag and not play them regardles of our injury situation. .... AND play the kids.

In case anyone has not noticed THIS has been happenning. Ward, Biz, Holland are playing at Sandy and the kids are being played. These guys have been very good AFL players in their prime.

Don't worry planning has begun for 2008 already. ND always takes a longer term view.

We should win at around 6 - 8 games when all are back playing well together.

We will know more about the younger players. Already we have a Rising Star.

We should get a top 5 to 7 pick in the draft.

When the injured players Brock, Whelan, Green etc come back then they will replace players currently in the team. Most likely the players losing their spot will be kids but they will have had valuable experience.

By the way what did ND say that indicates he will not be at the club next year??

nicely put..

some of course will say what has this got to do with footy !! when in reality the proces is just as applicable and sound.

I tend to agree... list who's going forward, build around that.. all others are only patch players. Short term pain for long term gain

I totally agree and that is what is happening. Its not just about playing the kids or tossing the season but their have been statements made by posters who you should know better.

We should be playing our best side possible and include the kids as and when they are ready to play not at the behest of furstrated poster who in most cases have not seen them play check the results in the paper and lampoon the footy dept because they apparently know more or better.

Oh dear. A coach that made a commitment but did not deliver on his expensive promise.

Its no wonder he has not been short listed for any further coaching jobs.

And Blight knows well enough not to apply. He has not got the ticker anymore for the caper.

His best efforts are now in 30 second Toyota ads.

I glad you have tagged onto to another posters good sense because that's not what you put forward.

And its a great irony that its actually happening but you had not realised it. So much for the reality.

2 time Premiership Coach - Think The Crows would call that delivering.

Had The Saints not been so full of themselves, I've got No Doubt Blighty would have bagged them a flag by now.

However agree circuit 2007 does his best work in Toyota Ads, but doesn't change the fact Blighty

was closer to a genius than an Idiot as suggested.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
