Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This will probably be an unpopular thought but I actually didn't think Tomlinson played a bad game, and I don't think it's a coincidence that Lever had one of his best games for the year with him in. McKay is a bloody good footballer and was getting regular (and quite often unpressured) service, getting hands on the ball hasn't been his problem it's the finishing that's been his main issue. I personally think Tommo stays, as does Smith.

Unless there are absolute gun footballers that are direct replacements (say a Petty or Oliver) I say given them a body of games to prove their worth to the team. Our backline functions better with to key pillars complimenting the Lever interceptor. And JVR and Smith seemed to have space from each other which is actually what Roo needs, space to have his opponent one on one. I would expect more from Smith going forward, but giving him one game and dropping is going to do nothing for him or the team.

Bowser for Hibberd
Sparrow for for Oliver (Sparrow Sub)

Can’t see Sparrow getting dropped.  Most pressure acts vs Freo and second most vs Carlton. I reckon his suspension cost us 4 points against Port.

Harmes was the sub, doesn’t count

It will be Bowey and Tomlinson for Oliver and Hibberd.

Gus goes back, plays as an interceptor. Hibberd is the best possible match up for Ash Johnson.

Lever has to play on a tall, be it Cox or Mihocek but he would’ve had to do that anyway.

Spare me the Lever has to be the third tall. He still is. Hibberd > Tomlinson unless the opposition has 2 gun big talls like Carlton.

Tomlinson stays. 7 cm taller than hibberd. No cooincidence imo May and Lever had best game of the seadon with 2021 looking defence.

Hibberd in for Bowey.  Maybe takes Elliot

I think we’re playing one too many midgets in the forward line. With Chandler, Spargo, and Pickett, we are getting out marked a few times per match.

With Hibberd and Oliver coming back in this week, I wonder if one of the outs will be Chandler or Spargo. Tomlinson is also possible.

That's what I would think too. Although on form, you could also throw Pickett into that conversation as well

one of the reasons fcfc struggled to get any ball movement going on friday night was because of the defensive work that he did

i know he doesn't get it much, but boy does his defensive efforts count for a lot

Oliver definite if fit, and probably Hibberd, even though without Bowey our backs will be slower.

People should not expect Kossie to be everywhere.

There could be a surprise in for us if weather fine. Maybe even in the middle.

Like some others, not too fazed about this game, and i would not be surprised to see different styles of delivery into the forward line, quite early in the piece..

It's not out of the realms of possibility that Tomlinson stays in the side for the rest of the year as a defender to support the brilliant May/Lever combo (or is it Lever/May!)

This is on the proviso that Petty returns to the forward line and BBB is never seen again.

Those criticising Pickett need to look at the fact he averages 1.9 goals a game and is equal second with goal assists. Sure he's not smashing it but he works really hard, is clever, makes the opposition nervous and can cut you to ribbons at any moment. I'm not sure what people expect from him but the chance of him getting dropped is less than zero.

Out Bowey and Harmes (suspended)

Chandler sub?

Harmes wasn’t in the 22.

you’d drop Chandler? who would replace his run and chase up fwd?

Happy with Chandler in the team for a bit longer,

Still ticking over score involvements but agree he is having a patch where he needs to convert more.

Kept a close eye on him in the Carlton game, was getting into great positions and often ignored.

Either way, leads to the question, Does a small forward work as the sub?

Agree. sounds like the most likely scenario.

Every week there are predictions of omitting Spargo, ANB or Sparrow. Every second week Pickett gets thrown in.

Yet, in the last three years there have been two more earthquakes in Melbourne than omissions of any of the above.

And guess what happened the last time there was an earthquake in Vic? Before the recent one a couple of weeks ago.

3 ganes for De Goey.

Pretty light

You wonder how De Goey gets 3, for concussing his victim, putting him out of that game and the next and Kozzie gets 2 for no injury at all to his victim and he jumps up smiling and pats Kozzie on the bum.

How is it only one more for De Goey in those circumstances?

Surely it’s only 1 for Kozzie, or 4 at least for De Goey.

No wonder the system is a farcical disaster.

Not criticising Pickett, however he has had only 6 disposals in 2 of the last 3 games. Yeah, sure, he has the type of game that can cut you to ribbons, however it doesn’t happen that often. All I am saying is that if the finger is being pointed at Spargo, ANB and Chandler, then Pickett needs the heat on him as well.

Personally I think it’s only ANB that has dropped off

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
