Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I really hope this is what’s behind his mobility issues. We need him finding some form coming into December.

What's happening in December, besides Xmas? Is he dressing up as Santa?

Really, I don't think we commit to as many players running forward with the ball carrier as they do.

No we don't.

And we have a triangle defense structure with a goalkeeper defender as on of its points, where they have almost flat line defense that pushes up as one - but can be exposed out the back on turnover.

But our optimal game plan still heavily relies on wave running and multiple players running ahead of the ball to provide options.

Interesting betting market on this game. We opened a lot shorter then I expected and strangely we are just getting shorter.  I was looking forward to being the outsiders for once. Pies are still Favorites but not by much.

Yes....saw that before too.

It's only interesting...and not indicative ( as such )

Bookies have got us wrong a few times this year lol.

But the trend is a curiosity.

And they won't let Daicos take the kick ins and run and receive the hand off either.

Also need to pick him up after that when he heads downfield as the +1 (in some cases the +2) at contests & stoppages

Hopefully he gets through that Melbourne Cup Carnival period. Renowned for 'loading' to be cherry ripe on that big day in December.

No way they drop Smith. Goodwin is primed for Collingwood and bringing Smith in as a defensive fwd on Moore is what will happen. It's the same role he has used Petty for previously.

Absolutely agree re Smith on Moore. Was at the WC v Pies game & Moore is crucial to them & their run off half back.

If you do a bit of a deep dive into the Pies games ..who they’ve beaten ..where  they’ve beaten them & the form that team was in when they beat them …it’s not mind blowing. i.e. Geelong & Port at the G when both teams were very ordinary at the beginning of the season etc. After seeing them live against WC …they certainly looked very ordinary when WC put pressure on them. If we improve a little more especially in our forward connection we should have a win.

David King saying we have to beat Collingwood to make the top 4, can you believe it?

So we have to win the hardest game of the year, out of the remaining 10 or so matches to make the top 4. Even though we're in there by a game and percentage right now.

Makes no sense at all.

He's unlistenable. Speaks in a disappointed/angry dad tone about every topic. Have pretty much avoided all media with him in it this year until now. I used to enjoy Crunch Time on SEN Saturday morning. But with Huddo defecting to 3AW, they now have either David King, Mark McClure or Dermie on each week, and I've barely made it past 20 minutes.   🤮

3AW & ABC have now become far far superior.

I know it's worn out topic but I had to vent!

Possibly. A win against Carlton certainly helped but lets be honest we are not playing good footy. If we can beat the filth I will gladly start to eat my words.

I am cautiously optimistic and will tip us

Maybe I'm in the minority but thought the game against Carlton was somewhat reminiscent of a 2021 version of us - where we won ugly by strangling the opposition through excellent defence

It felt like we got our mojo back a bit. Or maybe Carlton are just really bad?

I used to like David King but he’s pretty hard work nowadays, he flips and flops so much you just have to laugh.

Yep, say no more.

The man who said Gawn had no right to be sad about a potentially career ending ACL, is definitely the man to listen to on all matters.

I am sensing this game is similar to the Melb v Geelong game last year.

Geelong were traumatised by Melbourne in 2021 and set about revamping their game plan to combat Melbourne. Everything about the changes was designed to combat melbourne who Chris Scott thought had changed the game and that Geelong would inevitably play in a finals game.

So they went about putting huge pressure on Gawn when May kicked to the left hand side of the ground. They made Lever accountable and chip kicked their way through our defence. They revealed their plan to have Stanley take the ruck contest and then drop back to support their defence. The had Blix tag Petracca and take the ruck contests in the middle of the ground with Hawkins taking the ruck in the fwd half. They then parked that combination until finals and the rest is history.

Goodwin has set us up for this game. He knows they are the benchmark and they have had the wood on us (although last year's game was more a case of our injuries mid-game costing us big time).

As visually poor as our game was against Carlton, Our defensive work and stoppage work was first class. It was a whole of team performance and goes a long way to how we are planning to beat the Pies.

The Pies swarm the contest and then run and carry the ball. We won't allow that to happen. they will be put under pressure and will have to kick sideways and backwards in order to maintain possession. But they are not used to having to backtrack and will be out of position everywhere. And if we can get the ball out of the congestion or turn the ball over, they will be way out of position and outnumbered down back.

I think this will be a very tactical game and the Dees will come out on top. We have let Oliver rest up and even rested Hibberd to be cherry ripe. Grundy will be fired up.

I am excited for this one and starting to get very positive about our chances.

Completely agree.

We've tweaked our game style to beat Collingwood. We've become the scores from turnover kings, which is Collingwood's kryptonite, because as you say, they commit so many numbers to the contest and forward of centre, that they concede on slingshot if you can pressure them and/or win the initial stoppage contest.

On resting Hibberd and having a fresh Oliver, they also clearly managed Grundy in game last week, playing only 67% TOG.

He's been averaging around this game time for the past 7 weeks.. so in other words since Gawn has come back in.

I wonder if these blokes are just shock jocks, or they think they are geniuses, who know more than everyone else.

I don’t recall Thomas saying ANB was hard done by, for getting 4 weeks in a 17 game season, for a sling tackle that didn’t injure the victim.

Need to also some how stop him from using the knee in ruck contests. Has a habit of leading with the knee then may look at the ball. Trust the Umps keep a close eye on it.

Trust the Umps !!!???

DD, sorry and I don’t mean to insult,  but are you naïve?
Never trust an umpire, and especially against Collingwood.

But yes I agree with the sentiment - the maggots should be worded up by their coach to stamp down on this scum.

Spot on. I think the point stands though. They're managing him in game, it would seem likely to have him ready to go against his former team. Or maybe they'll continue doing this to balance out our reliance on him during the Gawn injury weeks.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
