Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Haven’t watched this game yet but I’m starting to get a little nervous about Jefferson -

He's fine imho and on track.  Just lacks the physicality.

Another pre-season so he can hold his feet / positioning in a contest.

Showing signs but does get brushed aside a bit too easy ....for now, and loses his feet a bit too often.

Similarities to the Duke if he does add the physicality and works his butt off in the off season!

Could be the tall mobile forward many on here are screaming for!

Look you are probably right, and this is the only Casey game this year I haven't watched (yet)

It would be nice to see him use his mobility more to advantage and lead out to space more and command the footy - he does have good hands - I guess with relatively poor delivery and zone defense by most teams the ability to do this now is very difficult.

One thing I do know is that atm trying to tack pack or contested marks is not his go he needs to find more ways to get involved in the play and have some impact

Just on Schache...

Appeared to go from boiled lollies in the 1st half to chocolates in the second.  Alot more involved.  Some clever work in the middle also.  Presented nicely on a few occasions.  Not sure what triggered this.  Maybe some extra time in the middle/higher up the ground?

If anything Casey are probably one tall too many with Joel, Shack & BBB running around.  Hence you don't see any one of them in particular dominate the scoreboard all that often.

That about sums things up as to where he's at right now Sydee.  Physicality needs another pre-season or two (minimum) to start clunking the odd pack mark.

More comfortable out wide and higher up offering options through the middle / around the arc etc.

That also could be what's being asked by the Coach for him right now?

Showing promise and a few nice involvements but very early days.  No doubt the old saying with taller blokes also applies here.

Interesting, do you think there is a case to bring him in next week as an extra tall defender - I'm by no means sold on him in any position at AFL level but I think if we try and cover McKay and Curnow with May and Lever we are asking for another loss - Lever is not a KPD - he is great as third man in and intercept marker but not great one on one with anyone that is bigger than he is IMO

100% needs fixing this week.  If Goody doesn't act here with Disco or Tomo (& eventually Petty on his return vs taller oppo forward set ups) we will absolutely struggle on Friday and beyond imho and may end up losing 5 on the trot.

Not only are we losing Lever's best in terms of intercept king down back, he just isn't that good 1 v 1 as you say.  It's a double edged rolled gold win to the oppo.

I haven't taken enough notice of Shack in defence to answer either way on the first part Sydee.  No idea.  Maybe someone else who's seen a fair bit of him at the Dogs in this role?  Possibly yes.

Casey are really missing Moose and remember that many players who played last season (and even this one) have either moved on, injured or now playing AFL....

Chandler, Baker, JVR, Dunstan, Weid, Mitch Brown & Bedford.

Reckon we did ok without Dunstan & Moose.

And while this most likely wasn't the difference, the umps did pay some insanely rediculous 'hand-of-god' frees on at least 3 to 4 occasions which helped keep Werribee within touch and pushed them ahead at times.

If you need any convincing of this check out the holding the ball against Woe straight in front of their goals early in the 4th.  Was literally tackled as soon as he took possession and taken to ground /sat on.  Ventured to try and handball it but no way he had any prior.

The other must see miracle free was at the 17 minute mark of the last against Roan Steele.  He tracked the ball from a Werribee kick off HB through the middle, picked up, turned on a tight arc quickly to boot the ball back into our 50 or find a target.  Slipped over, got straight back up (no oppo touched him and if they did it was a finger tip trip anyway) and the ump paid HTB!!!!

I hate being critical of umpires as it is such a hard  game to umpire...but there were some remarkable free kicks Werribee's way in the last quarter...including the Steele one you mention. Your description is accurate. There were others.

Jefferson is a worry...never seen a less imposing player.

Woewodin has some class...but not quite ready yet, in my amateur opinion.

Moniz-wakefield has ability but will need to do a lot more to warrant promotion.

Sestan has some good attributes, but I think you can pick the absence of the usual pathway in his game...another year of professional coaching may fix.

Ben Brown gave at least one goal away.

I've seen 4 of Jefferson's games & for a high draft pick he's shown very little. Reminds me of Lucas Cook or a young Michael Newton both in build and ability.

My view after watching the last 2 games

Jefferson a bust….I’ll sell my house if he makes it

Woewodin almost good enough

Schache uninspiring but maybe needed

Brown cooked like the last snag on the bbq at 10pm on GF night

Sestan miles away

MW never make it

Turner play him in the ones FFS

Melksham yesterdays news

oh and to top the weekend off I think Gawn might be cooked. I love big Maxy but we saw what we saw the last fortnight.

Maxy is coming off a ML injury and not back to his best yet still racked up 35 HO’s. We need to utilise Tomlinson or Diso until Petty comes back in and use either BBB or Schache for TMac.

We see if differently. Tomlinson needs a miracle, Brown a resurrection and TMac a rebirth

Sounds like the VFL team are employing the same tactic of dumping the ball on the head of our forwards. No 19 year old KPF is going to get anywhere with that setup

You can see the shizen delivery at both levels.

Hand of God is right. It's a Malcolm Blight on our game, and if you scan across KAYO over the weekend there are plenty of nonsensical calls and gift goals awarded by Hollywood umpiring.  And what happened to push-in-the-back?  It's a lucky dip which way the umpires call it. Won WCE a premiership couple of years ago and gave us a fright (Johanssen) in '21.

Whereabouts?  I might be interested. I'd expect it would be pretty cheap just like your shots at a 19yr old.

It’s not a shot at him. Sure I said it bluntly but that’s how I’m feeling today. I watch him play and I don’t see it. He just doesn’t have that presence of a key foward. Oh and I’m in Healesville but my place is worth a bit!

Well yes, it is a shot at him. I am pretty sure you can get a treatment for being premature and I hope you get yours.

CRUSHED by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons were dealt a crushing blow to their hopes of repeating last year’s premiership glory when they capitulated to the Werribee Tigers in the final term of what was for the first three quarters a riveting game of football.

The Demons struck early with the opening two goals of the match but the Tigers fought back to level the scores by mid-term. From there on until the middle of the last quarter, there was never more than two goals separating the teams although the home side looked to be in charge after a Casey burst in the middle of the third term.

The Demons had no less than 14 AFL listed players on board together with a few of their VFL listed players who are midseason draft hopefuls and were expected to win a closely contested game.

By comparison, the Tigers lineup was comprised of more of hard bodied players capable of playing tough, relentless football and in this instance, they prevailed with their hard tackling and strong marking that lifted the pressure gauge when the game was there to be won.

Casey’s captain Mitch White was one Demon who was not overawed by the occasion. He finished with 24 disposals and a goal. Similarly, Adam Tomlinson worked his butt off in defence amassing 29 touches and 8 marks. Preseason draft nominees Roan Steele (22 disposals) and George Grey (16) were also prominent for Casey. Jack Bell had a good game in the ruck.

Josh Schache and Ben Brown were busy up forward but when the chips were down in that final term they were unable to turn the Werribee tide that saw most of the scoring go the way of the victorious home team which snared the Demons’ place in the top four and have a game in hand in the battle for that all-important placing.

Some of the team’s younger members are struggling to fire up, particularly in the midfield mix and the club will continue to be patient in monitoring their development.

The Demons have another tough assignment next week as they travel to the Gold Coast to play last year’s vanquished grand finalists, Southport.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
