Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is there such thing as a 'low grade 1' Webber? I first had this down as hammy tightness because (in my uninformed opinion) if there was even a partial a tear it seems strange to me that he was able to do some running and stretching yesterday. Got no idea now.

It’s a spectrum of severity obviously layzie, but a tear is a tear. Assuming understanding and compliance from the injured person, any activity that’s pain free, and erring on the side of less stress to the hammy is ok. Regardless of severity however, the healing time, hence time-frame of diminishing risk, remains. None of this is to say that some don’t take the risk, and get through. It’s really about risk management. The Steven May 2021 GF is a great example. They knew that he might make the existing tear worse (whence he’d have 3 months to rehab). He didn’t, as we know, AND played out the game. Was a win, but could’ve been different

We shouldn’t write off James Jordon or James Harmes or Dunstan from our midfield mix all bigger harder bodies that can rotate with Tracc, Vines, Sparrow, Rivers, Kozzie and Chandler. That would leave Gus half back where he is needed most I am hoping that the coaches mix it up a bit and put a bit of a fire in their belly over the next four weeks. It’s time that the second echelon showed us what they are capable off and give Clarry the necessary time to get his hammy cherry ripe. Opportunity waits for no man.!!!

Agree with Jordon.

In his debut against Fremantle in 2021, he played some minutes inside from memory, played well and kicked a goal. Surprised he only got 15 touches in that game but he's a dependable player that can be assigned a job anywhere.

Will be stunned if he's sub or VFL this week given we have Oliver and Hunter's role to replace.

Obviously if this weekend was the grand final Oliver would rip out said hamstring off his body and play and win the Norm Smith. But if taking the extra week of the bye off means he’s cherry ripe for the second half of the year leading into finals, then surely the club would do that.
I know he’s a pain and is probably telling the fitness guy he can play this weekend, but like Viney and Gawn, these guys want to play at any risk to themselves and sometimes it comes back and bites them.

So the big question is a return for Monday June 12 (Colingwood) or Thursday June 22 (Geelong) - which would be 34 days from the injury. The scheduling means we don't have a traditional type of bye, but three 10 day breaks - (Fri)June 2, (Mon)June 12, (Thu)June 22 and (Sun)July 2.

Those 3 10 day breaks gives us a great opportunity to recover and reset for the back half

I know he’s our best and most important player, but you’d hate to rush him for the KB game, which is a probable loss  anyway, and have him do a serious injury and miss the rest of the season. Seems not worth it!

If KB is a probable loss, then so is our season. Play the best possible team we have.

Not so. it’s true that if we lose then top 2 will be over and top 4 way more difficult. But a fit Oliver is THE primary goal here… not just for this year either. when fit and firing we can match it with everyone ( except sadly maybe  not the pies) Oliver fullly healthy should be the only thinking here ….not getting him up fr a game we likely lose anyway.

If we lose KB we lose nothing. We just need to be at full strength coming into finals. We’ve got a soft draw leading in which works in our favour, as does the 3, 10 day breaks coming up. In fact the fixture is great for us. Just have to get everyone fit for September.

Exactly. Plenty of twists and turns in the back half of the season for all teams, nothing ever goes to script.

Get Clarry right and we're in with a show.

The language is really confusing in regards to his hammy.

In Goody's presser today, on the one hand he confirms it's only a minor strain, but then he says "we hope it's not long term but we'll just have to wait and see."

Would be a lot more comforting if he was listed as 3-4 weeks as opposed to indefinite.

Makes little difference as it is what it is ( or will be) Think  they know how good Clarry  is at getting his body right agsin.
I have a feeling he will play on the KB game most likely or even Blues on 2 June if all goes well.

Your now predicting injury Jaded?
Let us Just let Clarry do his best to get fit and have him back in then when he is ready.

That's what I'm thinking. Out for Freo then wait and see but likely return for KB.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
