Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is minus 0 colder than 0 or positive 0? ( yes I understand the unseen decimal ) 🙂

Going to be that person - my MFC vibes tell me we're going to lose this one.  Our form isn't great and the forward line is crunchy at best.

I don't understand this sentiment really. Haven't we scored the most points in the comp so far? Last time I checked we were the most accurate too.

Beware the team with many avenues to goal that don't just rely on 1 or 2 KPF's.

Very interesting,

It's probably why I'm not as confident tonight. Feel like their game is in a good spot where as I still find it difficult to get a gauge on ours especially as we've played some really poor sides of late.

3 of our last 5 games were over by half time. Of course those pressure and contest stats are down. When a game is finished at half time, you naturally taper off. We’ve rested our mids considerably over the past 5 weeks, especially when you considering the amount of travel and short breaks we’ve had.
I expect that to change tonight.

Definitely not saying you're wrong but I'm curious as to how the mids have been rested. Do you mean less or lighter training, less % of time on ground? I've noticed our mids (mainly trac and clayton) look absolutely stuffed at the end of 3rd and 4th quarters at the last three games I've been to. But I might be missing some inside scope!

** LONG POST, BEAR WITH ME **

I think we win tonight, because we're the better side on paper and we SHOULD win if we're the real deal.

BUT...

I worry a little because Port come into this game after some hardened opposition, with good wins. We're coming in soft after Hawthorn and the Roos, with a very close call against the Suns in between.

I see parallels with last year where we were shown up by Freo, Swans and Pies after a soft 10/11 rounds against poor teams and teams who had not yet hit their stride. This year, our wins have been against the Doggies (poor until recently), Suns (11), Richmond (13), Swans (14), Roos (16), Eagles (17) and Hawthorn (18). We lost against the Bombers who were flying at the time, and Brisbane (3).

While we have had positive moments (like the intense pressure we had against the Hawks in the first half), we still wobble (like against the Suns and the Hawks in Q3). We're still susceptible to teams who apply lots of pressure (see the Suns, and the Hawks, again, for example). Against better sides, our fumbles and weakness (pressure) could be exposed more prominently - much like it was against the Lions and Bombers (both applied tons of pressure and we wilted).

So what happens tonight? I don't know. It's not the end of the world if we lose, but I would like us to come our firing and match Port's pressure and confidence, because we're going to need it. They  have the talent to carve us up if we're not on. It'd be great to get a clearer picture of where we're at, and obviously it would be great to know we're looking good.

I know we have the talent pool, and Salo coming back is IMMENSE (although I won't expect too much from his first game back if he plays), but those 3 consecutive losses last year remind me of that false sense of confidence, and the very sudden reality check that could lie around the corner if we're not careful.

TL;DR - I am not sure our road to this game is as convincing as Port (especially the last few), so we should not come in with a false sense of confidence (and therefore complacency) - we will need to BRING IT to win tonight.

And we can, would love to see it and remind everyone we're the real #1.

Go Dees (us by 11 points)

It’s imposter syndrome, if it was cats or lions or pies we wouldn’t think any think less of them. Having said that the next month will show if we deserve to be equal flag favourites

Yeah look if we drop tonight then there could be a case but we don't know until the game happens.

Have a look at time in centre bounces and time on ground for Trac, Clarry and Viney this year versus last year. All are under 80% from memory this year.
And Trac is playing way more time forward than ever before.
Against the Hawks after half time I saw a centre bounce of JJ, Gus and Kosi. Name one time that happened last year. Not even when we were 10-0.

Awesome clarification. Exactly what I was hoping! Thats great insight. Thanks heaps! We have so many effective players to role through the middle to give us different looks and so good that its meaning less miles on our best mids.

Also I think you're right we'll see the heavyweights in there more tonight.

They slowed down to say hello and since I have yet to get a pic with Brodie I got my phone out and asked these Port guys if one of them could take the pic. They refused! Unbelievable. Anyways Brodie takes my phone and takes the selfie then motions towards the other three. I said, “All good. I’ve already got numerous pics with these guys.” Tmac pretended to be dejected and I said “Soz, chopped liver!” Then Tracc said, “security!” JK, he didn’t really. Anyways, what stood out was how happy Tmac is. He was in a great mood and had quite the spring in his step. He walked past me again, this time on his own and he beamed. I said, “I’m so happy you were picked for tonight.” He said, “yeah, it’s great, isn’t it.”
Then, just 10 mins ago I was on the phone to my cheer squad room-buddy and along comes Max, Ricky and Salo. I yelled out “HEY MAXY! HEY RICKY! HEY SALO!” It was smiles and thumbs up all around and everyone in the mall stared at me like I’d just sprouted a second head. Gotta love Adelaideans 🙃

Yeah, it's definitely the Adelaineans that are being odd in this sequence mate. 🤣

footscray win the best of that lot and from memory it was their key forwards - two of whom are missing this evening - that were particularly damaging

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
