Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We won finals by a combined total of nearly 200 points. It was the perfect season.

Yeah it was. But it didn’t look perfect every game. Far from it. No one would have predicted we would do that coming into the finals either.

The tigers fans I know were reasonably philosophic about the loss. They didn't expect to win, but could (arguably should) have if they kicked even 1 or 2 of the 3 shots they missed when they were on top in the last.

They were very happy with how their pressure and speed showed up, which really really hampered our ball movement

What the Tigers fans should be talking about now is how good the top draft pick is, but that they are going to get out tanked by Hawthorn.  At least they might be able to get ahead of Freo in the draft race - "oh wait, maybe we can beat Melbourne on that one!" Pitty the second and third best players in the draft are a crow eater and a sandgroper who love their mummies.

In all seriousness, I was rapped with how sedated the Richmond fans near us were all game.  A few started to get a bit extravagant when they got that run-on (umpire assisted) in the second quarter.  But overall, they weren't the most feral obnoxious supporter group I've come across.  Guessing they're pretty content with their three flags and are resided to knowing the time of thier current list is up.

Incidentally my feeling was that MFC supporters significantly out numbered RFC ones last night and / or were alot more vocal in support of their team.  Could make for a massive crowd at the Kings birthday clash against the Pies in a months time.

Totally agree with this. There were 84,000 people there, and we outnumbered Richmond supporters 2:1. I reckon the club would be thrilled with that - as they should be.

The noise at 3/4 time was incredible.

Interesting you say that, I was baffled and annoyed on Twitter by Richmond fans, upon hearing there were neary 84,000 at the G, saying they were all Richmond, and that Melbourne supporters were at the snow.  Like we hadn't heard that joke a million times before.....

It would be interesting to know what they’re saying now

my opinion - Richmond couldn’t play any better than that (save for improved accuracy) but Melbourne definitely absolutely can

If their fans are realistic, they should have one over-riding concern about their performance: their best players included Reiwoldt, Cotchin and Martin. That's not going to happen every week, and certainly won't happen next year. If Richmond supporters want something to look forward to, they need to see other names appearing in their best players.

I can confirm there were plenty of Richmond supporters there.  The aisles were full of them heading to the exits very early into the final quarter when we were less than 2 goals up.  Don’t let Tiger supporters claim they are thing more than one of the most fickle supporter groups in the league.

Went to the game with my son and his two daughters, 16 and 14 and they brought a friend each, the younger friend is a mad Tigers supporter, her whole family are. She was really good during the game and bless her little heart, clapped and sang our club song at the end of the match.

This is a form of conversion therapy I can support.

    TRAINING: Saturday 2nd March 2024

On the eve of the 2024 Season I ventured down to Gosch's Paddock for one of the final preseason training session before we head up to Sydney to take on the Swans. Here are my observations from the training session. The session was light and despite it being a Saturday was akin to a Monday/Tuesday session following a regular season weekend match as we played on Wednesday night and the boys had a couple of days off after the Practice Match prior to the season proper. Main Squad: May,

    ROUND ZERO by Whispering Jack

The Coodabeen Champions have called it a day after more than forty years on various radio stations across Melbourne. When the lads chose the theme from the spaghetti western "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" as their signature tune, the game was uncomplicated with little time for scientific strategy. Summertime was for easy living and games of cricket, footy teams assembled in February, played practice matches in March and the season opened in mid-April. In their time, the Coodabeens saw changes

    TRAINING: Tuesday 27th February 2024

I headed down to Gosch’s Paddock this morning for the Captain’s Run in the lead up to tomorrow night’s practice match against the Blues.  The squad that took the field was indicative of the lineup for that match at Ikon Park.  Likely Selections based on the groupings of players at the Captain's Run today at Gosch's Paddock. Main Group: Gawn, Viney, May, JVR, Lever, Petracca, McVee, Windsor, Billings, Langdon, Bowey, Schache, Rivers, ANB, Fritsch, Sparrow, Chandler, Kozzy,

SCRUTINY & RESILIENCE by Whispering Jack

If the week when preseason training melds into scratch matches with other clubs, is the first marker for the beginning of a new season, then this has certainly been a torrid opener for the Melbourne Football Club in its campaign to remain a leading AFL premiership contender in 2024. The Demons were already under enormous scrutiny from the media and football’s fan base (including their own) after consecutive straight-sets finals exits, with Clayton Oliver’s well documented woes, the Joel Smi
