Well thats a significant set back.  4 weeks plus recovery then a few weeks in the VFL.  Probably looking at about round 9 earliest now.

Hasn't been able to get back to his best since the GF

Oh FFS! So frustrating for Salem and the team. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised as he’s always struggled to stay healthy and on the park. He’s only played 2 full seasons out of 9.

His 2021 season was just brilliant though and we all wish he could stay healthy and replicate that form again. We’re a far better team with Salem firing. Wishing him a speedy recovery!

In the wash up of this years Premiership win by us someone will do an article headed "Operation Salem". It'll be all about how we managed his early season setbacks and got him cherry rip for finals where he utterly destroyed it. I for one am looking forward to reading it.

Rivers  Bowey  Hibberd Tomlinson Brayshaw Harmes  maybe McVee etc will adequately cover for no Salem.  He might not play much AFL this year.

Stupid overreaction. As long as we give him enough training time and Casey games Christian  can make a successful comeback before the bye. Agree that we have a wealth of HBFlankers lining up to take his place.

FWIW if you Google ‘small meniscus tear recovery time’ it comes back with 2-3 weeks. Obviously there are a lot of contributing variables

And AI... 😇

The recovery time for a small meniscus tear in elite sport can vary depending on the severity of the tear, the individual's overall health, and the treatment plan. In general, conservative treatment, such as physical therapy and rest, can take anywhere from four to six weeks for recovery. However, if surgery is necessary, the recovery time can be longer, ranging from six weeks to three months or more.

It's important to note that elite athletes may have a shorter recovery time due to their high level of fitness and access to specialized medical treatment. However, it's still crucial to follow a proper recovery plan and not rush back to training or competition too quickly, as this can lead to re-injury or further damage to the knee. The best course of action is to work with a qualified medical professional to create an individualized treatment plan based on the severity of the injury and the athlete's specific needs.

Agree. But if we utilise our depth to cover for him and give him time to get over his injuries and get ‘pre season’ fitness back I would be more than happy if he came back even a bit later in the season (if required)

Come finals we need a fit 22 on the ground, not a injury laden team as we had last year

    GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Carlton

The Blues season is on the line and their captain and coach have been in the firing line all week. If the Dees cough this one up the media's crosshairs will do a 180 and will surely be directed at the Demons who have only won 13 games from their last 25 outings. This is a must win game for the Melbourne Football Club too.

WRITING ON THE WALL by Whispering Jack

The Narrm Football Club found a second way in the space of 12 months less a day to unexpectedly lose a home game against Walyalup on Saturday afternoon. The equivalent match of last year has been described as Melbourne’s “ground zero” of 2022 where things went wrong for the club after a long run of wins that included its 57 year drought-breaking premiership triumph. Unfortunately for the Demons, the 2023 version was a case of deja vu with the Dockers overcoming a half time deficit and runn

    CRUSHED by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons were dealt a crushing blow to their hopes of repeating last year’s premiership glory when they capitulated to the Werribee Tigers in the final term of what was for the first three quarters a riveting game of football. The Demons struck early with the opening two goals of the match but the Tigers fought back to level the scores by mid-term. From there on until the middle of the last quarter, there was never more than two goals separating the teams although the home side look
