Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lot of blokes changed their form on Melksham this year so far. We should all be pleased as well. Could end up being one of the great stories of our Club, Just as Hibberd's is the first Chapter, i would dearly love Melkshams to be the second..

Jetta was our first, delisted and picked back up as a rookie to become one of the league's best small defenders, amazing story.

Agree Binman at this stage JVR is a possible replacement for Fritta. To be honest thought it might have been a chance to make JVR the sub vs Dogs to give him a chance especially if Tmac had to be moved back for a stretch. We had plenty of flankers etc. I thought.
Suppose it's also great for Melky to get nearer to his 200th  game.

Interesting - I would be seeing him more as a competitor for BBB's position.  And, if BBB is to be "managed" through the season as many suggest, that may be when JVR gets his chance.

But then, what would I know?

No sure why they would do so given in a quarter of footy, where we dominated, he only got 2 possessions - albeit both being a score (one super classy goal, one point).

And he had zero tackles and zero clearances.

He also had 83 metres gained, which isn't too bad if you don't factor in that about 70 of those meters were from the goal he kicked from inside the center square.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of melk as a sub, but jeez he got plenty of plaudits for 2 kicks at 50% DE in one quarter of footy.

Me too!

Amazing the impact of one smart, classy goal.

Again, i like Melk as a sub, but to be honest it's a bit of worry that he didn't register a tackle given the emphasis this year on getting back to 2021 inside forward 50 pressure levels - not to mention lack of tackling has been a n issue for Melk, and was one of the key reasons he got dropped from the seniors in 2021 and missed out on a premiership medal.

He is only good for a sub role now IMO as he doesn't impact the game for long enough. What he does well as a sub, is he is a low possessions high impact player, so he can come on, touch the ball 3 times and make something good happen with those 3 touches.

Winning or losing a flag against Collingwood are the ultimate footy extremes for me. Wouldn’t get any higher or lower than that.

21’ Grand Final was excruciating waiting all day for it, but I don’t hate the dogs like I hate Collingwood. The tension of a dees/pies Granny would be a lot.

Couldn't agree more. Smashing Collingwood in a Grand FInal would be as good as it gets for me but losing to them in one would smash me into a million pieces like waterford crystal.

The anxiety this would bring on would be extreme, going through that whole week and the nerves in another stratosphere. Honestly I'd prefer all our grand finals from here on against anyone else or GWS or something.

Agree.

A bit of an issue with that theory (whcih i agree with) is if Melk has to come on early in the game to replace an injured player.

I mean that's true, but he is versatile enough to play a few roles. He started his career at half back, he can play wing and forward, so he does have that flexibility you need.

You will never play your best player as the sub, there is always a compromise to be made. I personally want to see JJ as sub, because I think he is a good enough player with a lot of versatility. But the club is keen to get Melksham to his milestone game so that's fine.

Do we know that as fact or is just an assumption, albeit both a logical and emotional one?

I don't know that for a fact, but I think it makes a lot of sense. He also has 2 sons, so you want to get that F/S eligibility too.

Haha, beautiful imagery re: Waterford crystal.

I’ve got a few close friends that go for Collingwood and if we got in a GF, the expectation would be to watch it with them. I don’t think I could. Unlike all the other clubs, I wouldn’t be able to take an even mildly lighthearted jab after the game as I’d be so furious. And I’m a very calm person in general!

It’s more than a game against Collingwood. I ucking despise that club.

Nah I'd be a shocker in that scenario as well. I was invited by a Collingwood friend to go back to his house after they put us out of the finals race in 2017 and I told him to shove it so I wouldn't stand a chance.

An acquaintance of mine who insists that the AFL is all rigged (no, not @Clintosaurus) is convinced that the Grand Final will be between Carlton and Collingwood because the league will need lots of money to settle the concussion class actions.  Strangely, he has refused my offer to have a bet on that GF match-up.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
