Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't know how I ever doubted you Tommo? Great game killed Lobb. Keep it up big fella

Just watched the replay and he was playing all around the ground - forward , back and in the ruck at times. He was very good . As usual.

We made dogs look 2nd rate with a 50 point win. They are in fact a very good side and a definite finals contender. Done with four crucial players out. Credit to our fitness staff.  This could be the year again. How great to see a granny won at the g.

Yeah Spargo was on mmm after the game & I think he said Clayton was frustrated because the dogs had there hands on the ball and I'm not sure he was aware of the rule. But he does now.

Personally I don’t boo ex-Dees, but I won’t have any problem should our fans boo Dogga. Entirely different kettle of fish.

I will certainly boo Jackson. I have no time for players who actively choose to leave a club who served them the world on a platter.
But I would never boo Weideman or Hunty or Hannan as an example, because the circumstances of their departure was entirely different. I also never boo Hogan as I sympathized with what he went through off field before going home.

Bit of a funny day yesterday 36oC when we left Doreen but down to 24 when we reached the G at 6:20 you couldn’t have asked for a better night to cheer on the Dees. As previously mentioned the crowd was very vocal last night and Redlegs Area packed out with our supporters who were making a lot of noise and how good to see and hear so many young fans wearing our colours in the crowd and the Demon Army were ratcheting up the noise levels. So good to see all those flags and giant heads with the banners. WCW looks like a lot of new heads bobbing around last night. A great team effort last night led by Max, Tracc, Clarry, Jake Lever, Gus, Kozzie and BBB. Our youngsters have all stepped up and we have found another youngster in Judd McVee. We are fit, we have greater depth and a brace of champions to fit back into our side. How sweet it is and we got to sing our song multiple times after the game.!!!!

Things i liked about the game:

Us

Gawn: Selflessness and leadership BOG

GrunDee: just amazing to have him and in tandem with Max especially the developing duo resting forward weapon.

Kossie: 3rd, 4th and 5th efforts.

Kossie.

Olivers kaos ball

Petracca and Olivers ability to find each other.

BBB: defensive efforts and 4 goals

Spargo: in everything and just comes from nowhere

Kossie: in the center and his penetrating kicking

May: a 40+ margin without him.

Langdon and Hunter bookending the wings

Petracca and Harmes will not be traded to any soccer teams any time soon

Them

Bugle-Raygun and Naughton being ineffective forwards

Liberatore becoming a parody of his own tattoos

Bakers direct handpass to Petracca and his subsequent hands in the air (oh wtf am i doing) moment.

I still hate Scully and glad he went on to have an average career with no success. Hope Jackson’s career pans out much the same.

Your a tad Jaded still buts that's OK.

I never liked Scully either. Nothing against Lj wanting to go home though.

He helped us win a flag so there's that.

Finally get to sit at my computer. Got home at 1.15am thanks to horrendous eternal city roadworks, and a totally dysfunctional VLine that has been a staple diet of Bendigo travellers for a decade now.

Impressive win on many fronts, much as been commented on by most.

Our ball use at times was brilliant - simply brilliant. Kozzie, Bowey, Laurie, Rivers, Petracca all were very clean by foot at times. Having said that, a fair few of our 45 degree kicks into the middle of the ground got cut off due to poor kicking which got under my skin a bit.

I couldn't for the life of me understand why the Dogs allowed BBB to be unmanned so often. My daughter and I looked at each other about 10 times and said "he's on his own again!!".

Chandler and Spargo - wow! McVee too.

Our defence - right across the ground - was epic. Noticeable and powerful. But our back 6 worked like a machine, showed immense courage and effort, and made the Dogs attack look feeble.

But it was attacking flair and risk-taking that was the wow factor. We haven't played like that for a long time.

Unfortunately, it has to be said, that as good as we were, the Dogs were appalling. Bontempelli aside who was exceptional for most of the night, their skill level was sub-standard and they gave their 4 talls no chance.

And a special  mention to Brayshaw. Not our best player, but there was a 5 minute patch where his gut running and hard work saved 5 forward entries. probably sums up our 4 quarter team effort.

I was worried he'd hurt himself flying for that speccy a few mins earlier as he got up gingerly.
When he flipped back onto his feet I knew he was ok.

I can't remember a better ruckman than Gawn.
Teasdale and Round won Brownlows when I was a kid.
Simon Madden was a great ruck who went forward, took big marks and kicked goals.
Footscray had a big ruckman they used wax lyrical about but I can't remember his name.
Had burn scars and always wore long sleeves.
But I can't say I remember too much about their games.
Doubt Trac, Gawn or Clarry will win a brownlow as they take too many votes off each other.
But they'll deserve one.
Multiple flags will just have to do I s'pose.

Yes, you like to pick a whipping boy but pretend you never did once they improve

Ok I never thought Spargo was any good at all for a reason

1 Not enough possesions

2 Not enough goals

I am now of the opinion that he has IMPROVED and so deserves some Kudos which I have given.

Laurie IS NOT a "Whipping Boy"BUT as I have said in quite a few posts , has done little to warrant a game. Again, I'll stand by my comments!

Yep really embarrassing stuff. We told him to bugger off and now we are booing him? So dumb.

I can only imagine the boos Grundy will get on King Birthday from the brain dead nuffies who barrack for the Pies

IIRC he was only booed at his first touch, which was shortly after Hunter’s first touch where the Dogs fans booed him. I felt like those who booed were doing it in response to the Dogs fans and it didn’t happen again.

I loved the way our fans drowned out the boos for Hunter and Pickett as the game went on though.

Defs nothing wrong with wanting to go home, Deeves.

But everything wrong with pretending you haven’t decided right up ‘til the end, mentally checking out halfway through the season, visiting your future club during the bye round, and my personal favourite: coming out at season’s end and publicly saying that you knew you wanted to go to said future club when you visited during the freaking bye round.

Not only is he disloyal and selfish, bereft of tact and sensitivity, but he’s an imbecile.

Yes, he helped us win a flag. But not single-handedly. Not without the efforts of the other 22 players.

He was booed before the match even started when they displayed the players individually on the big screens. Then he was booed for his first couple of touches. Even if he was being booed in a [censored] for tat that’s no excuse. We’re better than that.

I’m not sure Grundy would have been a target if the club didn’t know Dogga was leaving. I would have thought the Salary cap would have nipped that in the bud.

Too many believe they know what is going on at the club.

in the meantime let’s enjoy the death ride of Freeo

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
