Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Classic oppo nuffies want Kosi out until after we play their team. Media can STFU. It should be a fine only. Potential impact is a joke and sounds like the latest HQ way to punish non 'stars' while Cotchin and Cripps get let off.

You’re kidding? He’s so crucial to our structure - outside of kicking goals. Go to a game and just watch how and where he moves; no coincidence that the drop off last season started after he was out….

Tx for this. I'm going to watch the replay and take note. I thought he wasn't great but I guess you don't know know what Goddy tells him to do.

I know he was a reason we crashed late last year with his injury.

I will say it was great Bbb is back including a cameo defending.

Sunday morning and I am still in bed reason it was after midnight when I got home. From the time I left to go to the game till I got home was 7.5 hours. Now admittedly I left early to make sure I got into the G car park. Ridiculous! The upside ?

We slaughter a team that was supposedly a top 4 contender. I have to say rarely have I watched a MFC team play as well as this one and we had 4 of our 21 premiership side out. I know it is only the first game but how could you not be excited. Bring it on Dees we have all waited decades for this team.

One of the wonders to me of the modern game is fitness. How fit are AFL players. It amazes me how they run 40-50 metres to create a lose man. Not once but for 120 minutes.

Great win. We are super fit. Loving the different players going through different positions this year. We are so versatile. Opposition must have a hard time working out what is happening. Moving the ball well. Tactically we look very sharp. How much better are our kick outs.

Pies did look good but they can be scored against quite freely in my opinion. Not sure we can. We played more attacking but still so sound behind the ball even without the best defender in the comp last night.

Anyone else pinch themselves when brodie grundy does brodie grundy things?  Opposition teams  have no chance frankly if these ruckmen are fit.   How good.

Yep no doubt about that!!  Then I think, how much of his game is paid by the Pies.

HOW SWEET IT IS…

Was particularly noticeable to me last night too, @old dee (maybe cos I sat top tier, which I don’t usually). And most noteable here is Alex Neal-Bullen. His combination of endurance and consistent speed to the contest is frankly phenomenal. When everyone else (the Dogs mostly) was grinding down, he was running as far and as fast as the first quarter. Needless to say it falls on deaf ears for many on here, but Nibbler’s all-game work is just extraordinary.

You have to pinch yourself at the moment with the amount of star talent on this list.

It’s hard not to disagree with some commentators when they say only one flag would be a disappointment.

100% this is a generational team people of my age (45) may not see again so we need at least another flag

The Kings Bday and Geelong matchup is too far away!

The next two weeks will be a fantastic test, but i can't help but feel like we're already in the box ticking grind to get to these key pre-finals matchups to put rival game plans to the test lol

It was great to beat up on the Dogs last night from a confidence and tactical reaffirming perspective, but gee I want an entertaining contest for 4 quarters again!

Anyone think Caleb Daniel is seriously overrated?

Chases the easy kicks and even when he does get the easy kick he coughed it up badly last night.

Bailey Dale on the other hand is a seriously good footballer who would compliment our line up significantly.

Dale absolutely poos himself under the threat of any form of pressure or physically

Looks a million bucks when everything is easy though. He pretty much sums up the Dogs.

Predictable excitements still abound; really waiting for that componentry to blend on the field - now that there appears to be some consistent and soul-destroying intent amongst the Demons' players who are prepared to fight back and then take the game away, including the first-half freshness of many opposition players.

In this assessment, I am thinking, for example, of the re-bounding against the Doggies last night and then, actually realising what a step forward from this point is going to look like: May, Fritta, Viney, Hibberd, Salem coming into the bludgeoning Demons team, underpinned by the Super-sub in the Melk for cameos, JVR and two particular young talents in the backline (Judd and Disco) pressing for blood, including the vast improvements, capabilities and intents of Sparrow and Rivers.

We actually have some mongrel pulsating across and underneath our entire lines of intent. Our only limitation may be the AFL itself and the umpires, and the MRC. Stuff 'em.

Sadly there are going to be players who play their hearts out and deserve their place in the team, who get dropped.  That’s good for team selection but I can’t help feeling sorry for those who will miss out. How do they develop confidence and maintain motivation?  How do you keep a young kid like Laurie motivated if you drop him after one game?

Outstanding win against a fellow contender.  Given no Maysie, Vines, Fritta and Salo, it tastes even sweeter.  Hard to imagine a more impressive start to the season.

I don't think the Dogs are a fellow contender, a genuine middle of the road team with that defense.

Crowd was 48k last night, for those there what do you think the split was? On tv the crowd looked good and seemed like we were far louder than they were. Our games often look bad on tv because our supporters are all in the northern stand but the southern stand seemed pretty packed last night on level 1 and 2.

The only reason Dogs got back in the game in the second quarter is because Clarry and Kosi were stuck on the bench for around 8 minutes. The minute those two came back on and the legendary combo of Clarry, Trac and Gawny went into the middle, it was all over for the Dogs. These 3 do not fail

Amazing is the only word that comes to mind. It amazes me how people are down on Tmac. He does a lot of un noticed work. The opposition knows if they don’t put a good player on him he will kill you. They say you don’t appreciate someone until they are not there. Witness last year we were never the same without him in the second half of last year.

What a win given the outs.

And also given how scrappy we were at times and how many silly decisions we made.

Great start, next week is a huge test. Kosi will be missed for the next 3 weeks.

If he gets 3 weeks for that they'll have to change their parameters. In slow-motion it's largely shoulder to shoulder, Smith bounced up unfazed. The fact he left the ground makes it a suspension, a week, at most 2. It's a move they have to wipe out of the game to protect the head but 3 weeks!

Had a really enjoyable night. Woke up without a voice and a mild hangover.

Everyone contributed last night. Hard to pick a BOG but probably Rick Lever as he marshalled a relatively inexperienced back line so well.

Koz has really filled out. Bowser really belongs in this side now I think.

48k not a surprise. Probably more Dogs at the Victoria Hotel watching the game than at the G last night.

Dogs will win more than they lose this year. Just. For all his size Lobb has the heart the size of a pea but I guess we all knew that anyway. Poor old Bevo sounded deflated in the presser I've just watched.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
