Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Spot on…Geelong had their chances to run away with it, but look like they just couldn’t sustain the pace -it was a low tackle count and pure offensive footy with both teams losing key defensive anchors. Geelong showed Collingwood can be burnt the way they play, but they’re so damaging when they get it right - it shows how much the game can open up with kicking and forward movement, something we entirely lacked last year - our ability to put pace on and move the ball in any fashion.

And yet we still managed to win 16 games in the season proper despite not firing on all cylinders.

So if we get it right and if we have a reasonable run with injuries, logic tells us we'll win at least 16 this season

Last season we closed down the opposition (often from half-way through the 3rd quarter's) in a lot of those wins.

But by 3/4 of the way through the season, we started to wilt. In my view, we looked tired from about round 8

So our first 3 games this year will be testing.  Dogs, Lions & Swans where none are guaranteed wins.  If you offered me 2 wins from those 3 I'd take it in a heartbeat (starting the season with 4 big outs - Fritsch, Viney, Salem & May)

the Cats aren’t that bad and the Pies aren’t that good.

Yeah but they had Carlton top of the ladder last night and it was a draw without any percentage applied.

We’re now equal favourites with GeelongI to win the flag ($5.50) according to the TAB.

I thought that this game was a hard-fought struggle for both Geelong and the Filth. Encouragingly, it also gave me a sense that both teams are starting to crumble physically  in game-time, from the effort expenditure and have very little in reserve to rally when it is critically needed. These two teams may well be the capitulation champions across the season - incapable of a '...Bang. Bang, bang, bang.'

The pies are a superbly coached team. McCrae, Bolton and Leppitsch have devised a game plan the team have embraced. And they have instilled belief and confidence in the players to execute. They look fit and will be a contender for sure this year.

Can't wait for Kings birthday to have a crack at this mob.

Clearly I was watching the wrong game.

MFC wouldn't have been within 5 goals of either team last night.

But then it's only round 1 and assuming Choco and Ooze have some influence with  "the coach" and we get some new blood into  the best 22 along with a new game plan there is time to to up the game.

I doubt Carlton or Richmond are going to worry the comp

Relax? How can I? We are about to play the dogies tonight!

I could only listen to the game last night but it appears to me that both these sides will most likely be serious contenders come year end.  I hope I am wrong

Strange post.

Is it up to Choco and Ooze to influence the coach? Do they get criticised when we lose too or just credit when we win?

This week, apart from Hunter and Grundy, we have Laurie, McVee and Chandler as new blood. Add Bowey and Rivers who were not regulars last year and that's a third of the team? Enough?

which game were you watching?

Melb would have run over the old Cats last night. they kicked ridiculously straight and that won’t happen often. Pies smashed them on all stats

And a bit of respect for our premiership coach please. i guess some ‘supporters’ are never happy huh?

Last years MFC won't have got within 5 goals

If you watched our preseason games you'll have noticed our ball movement much quicker through the corridor and into our F50.

And we have 3 debutants tonight as well.

Pies are good to watch, love the brand of footy they play. As much as Demons supporters we loath certain sides, Pies being one of them.. slick, attacking footy is good footy!

If last nights game is an indication of the way footy will be played this year, then I’m keen to watch.

Ha ha knew Chris Scott would be bringing up the surface. How about the fact your backline let the pies forwards out the back loose & there midfield just ran straight through there's. Also the fact you badly missed your former captain & your new one was terrible.

In saying that is any of our boys get seriously injured I'll be annoyed

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. Harrison Petty, JvR, Jack Billings, Kade Chandler, Kozzy, Bayley Fritsch, and coach Stafford.  The backs join them, Steven May, Jake Lever, Woey, Judd McVee, Blake Howes, Tom McDonald

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
