Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If they haven't worked it out now Rab they never will without going to deep into it, what were the police doing and thinking in regards to patrolling the outside of the ground?

Instead of around the playing perimeter of the stadium especially behind the Victory End! Absolute farcical.

The safety of the Players and Fans is absolutely paramount, i still dont understand it.

Its the attention to detail that has hurt the sport on a number of occasions. Who ever was or is in charge of stadium security and Policing should have been sacked that night.

Yeah, it left me wondering who is responsible for paying for the policing and security at A League games and whether there is an agreement for only stewards and security to be present inside the ground. I think in the UK the police decide how many officers are required for an event before it can get the green light to go ahead and the home club pays for their time and resources.

That’s pretty much it Rab. Police costs are the big problem - outside a ground these are met by the local constabulary but the home club pays for any policing inside the stadium as it’s on ‘private’ property. There’s a much lower police presence inside grounds now as clubs rely on cheaper minimum wage stewards backed by extensive cctv systems to act as a deterrent.  This works ok at the top of the pyramid but grounds are less safe as you drop down the leagues.

Outside is where most issues arise and police are on hand to deal with it. They still over-rely on cctv and handheld video recorders to gather evidence (rather than intervene!) for the subsequent 5am knock on the door but that’s another issue.

We’ve got a new breed of hoolie blighting the game over here now - feral, wannabe kids in their knock-off Stone Island/CP Company clobber, most of them sniffed-up to the eyeballs. They part-model themselves on European ultras with fan-marches, pyro and self-promotion on social media but they still hang around after the game hoping to get a sly dig at an unsuspecting away fan.

I really hope last week’s lunacy was a one-off and the APL and police come down hard on the perps. They need to get a grip before such behaviour becomes mainstream.

British Empire.  There's no such thing as an English Empire.

Hi Orion. Self serving individuals from Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland certainly participated in the pillaging of half the planet's wealth at that time but only one government declared it their policy to do so in the name of their monarch. The word British is nothing more than a term of convenience used by the English when it suits their needs. These days used mostly when they want to lay claim to successful sports persons that hail from the other home nations. Although, they can't even be bothered to do that any more. As witnessed recently when former tennis great Sue Barker declared whilst commentating on the BBC that Andy and Jamie Murray had just sealed victory for England in a Davis Cup quarter final.

Hey daisy. Yeah, I'd argue that there are for sure. We'd all like to pay less tax (unless you're Warren Buffet) but lots of people still understand that this will mean less funding of public services, many of which they themselves don't need to access but will end up making society fairer overall.

Nah, that's definitely a myth. Just like the one about the Irish being stupid. I had to go live there to find that out for myself though.

"Britain" is not a term of convenience, it's what the country and empire is called. Even the English don't call it "The English Empire"

The Irish are only made out to be stupid, so the English can understand them.

Hi 3183. I don't think I've found myself so out of my depth about so many topics of conversation than I did when I lived there.

Hi Orion. Britain isn't a country. It's a union of four supposed "equal" partners that are treated like colonies by the bully in the playground that makes up 85% of the population but with almost none of the natural resources required to fund the interest payments on it's eye watering debt. In the context of Empire the term British is used in this instance to spread the blame instead of take ownership of it. As I've said, they're only British when it suits them.

Rab, I have no time for the English. My real name (don't tell anyone, is Stewart) having Scottish heritage I have a distrust of the English so I hear you mate 👍

Hi ManDee. I actually have a lot of time for them and having lived there for a lot of years find so many little things about them endearing and their countryside to die for. This is perhaps on an individual rather than a collective sense but even so it means there's a helluva lot of individuals there that I like. What I find frustrating however is when they ask for justification for reasons that make them difficult to like and we can reel twenty of them off the tongue they don't want to listen because it's far easier for them to just keep saying we hate them for no reason.

Heard from a client yesterday (his son was playing) that the Paris Cockatoos won the French Australian Football League premiership. 20th licence? Would make for a nice away game trip.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
