Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne has a spot left for a train on either Burgoyne or Turner.

Sorry to say that B Brown needs to make way right from round one for JVR.

The other change I would make is Chandler for Spargo. But let's see how the Season pans out with injuries before we get too far down this track.

The bench now is really just for player rests, so it doesn't really matter if he starts there or on the field.

Clearly we multiple options for a variety of positions next year. A great place to be. Injuries will often dictate options but I'm hoping we return to form being the deciding factor for selection each week.

It's why Bowie kept his spot after Hunt recovered and Jones didn't play in the finals despite many of us wanting him to in 21. It will ensure pressure for spots which ultimately makes us a better team.

2021 felt like a little bit of providing opportunities to players, 2022 felt like pick 2021 premiership team where possible, only badly injured players in Salem, TMac dropped, the odd player dropped on form e.g. Rivers who looked to carry a leg injury all year, then Bowey got bullet and not given a look in thereafter.

Zero dare in selections. Hopefully 2023 JVR given a chance and Chandler 4-5 consecutive games. Grundy and Hunter make us stronger!

Only changes i would make in Bold, hope JVR forces his way in also which maybe for McDonald depending on his pre-season.

Brashaw is a midfielder now, as much as everyone thinks he is a def.  He finished last year in the Mids and will pick up there i believe, which will be fine as i expect Salem to return to his best.

Rivers i expect to overtake Hibbard as the lock down def.

I am very optimistic about this side with Salem, Rivers, McDonald, Brown  and Lever hopefully sorting out the injuries that plagued them last yr. which will give our side more stability and Brown some support up forward with another couple of talls.

I'm sure there will be a couple that also force their way into the team from the VFL and hopefully that is the case, make everyone fight hard for positions.

Mistakenly put Rivers on field and on the bench, have Viney on the bench as first midfield rotation

BBB went under the knife immediately after the season. Will be interesting if he can get back to full fitness.

Be interesting too who can perform Hibberd's lockdown role. I don't see any standouts.

I think I saw shots of BBB at training without any knee bandage / support which suggests that he has recovered to whatever extent he can from his surgery.
I still would be extremely surprised if he were to play more than maybe half the games?

Action - point taken, however (in general) I don't think captains should start on the bench.  The leader needs to be there at the first bounce to lead.

i think the gap week robbed us of momentum heading into finals and then we were clearly walking wounded in the semi

it was a shocking end to the season, but we achieved the main goal of being top four - indeed, top two - at the end of the home and away

everything that could go wrong in the two finals did go wrong

Didn't selwood start on the bench for most of the season? I'm not certain but had a vague idea he did.

The untold story of our second half year fade outs was the growing injury list. By the Lions loss injuries were substantial

So true 11 players in X-rays the week before Lions game I heard!!

So much upside and 4 new players Brodie Grundee Lachy H JVR and Tmac !!

Also Bowey and Schacky look real like the real deal!

Still trying to work out how Max Gawn as Captain and the current All Australian ruckman … is being put as full forward, forward pocket or bench. Grundy comes in but surely he starts on the bench and rotates in.  Gawn can rest forward or a spell on the Pune only.

What about loose on the backline shuring up our defence?

Brown is surely cooked

Hibberd is an injury away from retirement

Bowey has to play

JVR better be playing after the hype fest around here

Hunter and Jordan will need to train the house down to get in above the other.

Only injuries stop us winning this

If Voss can coach and Carlton stay fit surely they are pushing

Brown looked very very good at training last week and Hunter was sensational. He hasnt been recruited to play at Casey

Go back to Gawny playing loose in defence marking forward thrusts of the opposition.  He didn't do that and still thinks led the saviour of the forward line.

I believe we have enough tall forwards back free of injury or coming on (JVR) now that Gawny is best saving goals by his superior marking.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
