Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Forecasting how good a draft class will be 12 months out is fraught with danger.

I would think banking on a 'super draft' is just as dangerous.

If we can get someone good in now and start developing them, it is always the best option.

There has been enough whispers around Kozzie, that I think we could be well stocked for the 2023 draft anyway

If we can't jump up into the top 6 with 3 first rounders this year how would we be able to move to the top 2 in a better draft with the same offer of 3 first rounders

Its all about risk. The players and pick order for next year is murky at best, so some teams wouldn't want to take that gamble right now. But in 12 months time, you have a better gauge on what those 2 picks will get you and can make a better decision.

Melbourne: We rate getting a top 5 pick so highly that we would offer up two first round picks and a downgrade from 13 to 22 just to get one.

North, Godl Coast and Essendon; Yeah, we would want more than that.

Sydney: Yes, we agree. After all, that is about what we gave up in total for Braeden Campbell, Callum Mills and Isaac Heeney.

AFLHQ: We are so good at this.

JT has:

- made a bold move for Oliver
- offered what would’ve been the Jacko pick for Zak Butters
- drafted Jacko
- made a really bold move for Pickett
- made solid moves for Bowey and JVR at the back of the first rounds

The case against is Weid and to a lesser extent Laurie. Although they were both the second players picked and didn’t seem specific targets like Pickett was.

Strength of the drafts doesn’t matter because there’s no guarantee a team does a deal for a top prospect next year. It might be picks 8 and 12 but no one will give us 5 next year.

If you’ve found someone you think is a special prospect and is gettable you don’t care that next year has equally special prospects.

With respect I beg to differ in that this years Draft is not as strong as next years so why would you not hold what you have for 2023 Yr. ? when add to this the fact that we have already drafted well in 2022 for a replacement for Jackson plus Hunter and Schache not to mention the improvement in JVR.and others.

I just feel our desperation to upgrade in 2022 may backfire on us in 2023 strong Draft.

There is an assumption from many that next year’s draft is a certainty to be strong.

Kinnear Beatson said on a podcast that at this time last year they all thought the strength in this current crop was the talls yet today it is a widely accepted weakness in this draft.

The strategy ‘may backfire’ but holding onto them may ‘backfire’ too. I think Lamb/JT and co. are better equipped and informed than Demonland to make the best call for the club.

Surely if Bombers are going to deal 4, they do it with Gold Coast for 5 and a future pick, which means Bombers probably get their player anyway and pick up a bonus for next year, while allowing Suns to stop another club taking their preferred player.

That would be the biggest win for the Bombers.

Glad we didn't do that Essendon trade in the end.

Next year we'll have a lot to work with and options will open up. We'll have far more time to formulate a plan to trade up and it'll be a stronger top 10.

Gold Coast are a side I imagine we'll target given they'll have a couple of high academy players coming through which they'll need points for.

As Adonski mentioned they lost a top 20 pick, likely making it less easy to part with another one.  Still possible of course.

Well, if we want a George or Barnett, we have to get a higher pick and if we can’t, at least we will go into the 2023 draft with a good hand.

If we retain 37, Phoenix Foster has been mentioned. Do you see his type as our aim, given Jefferson being taken, or do you see us just going best available, no matter the type of player?

Having now taken Jefferson, highly doubt we'll target Foster.

Humphrey was going to be our man, Jefferson will be a long termer, will either trade up for George or stay for Gilbert, in my opinion.Farris- White looked good on first impressions yesterday as well.(206 cms tall ) , can’t see another ruckman, Barnett is needed. We have enough forward falls now.Need another tall back, or half back flanker.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
