Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wardlaw and Sheezel is my pick in who we'd be trying to nab.

Whilst it included pick 3, the report also said 4 and 5.

Logic (as well as what I’ve heard) says that we wouldn’t attempt to trade up for guys that North have already picked.

Cadman and Sheezel would be the right options for us, as we need forward half players who hit the scoreboard. Cadman is pick 1, so he's out of reach. Sheezel will go pick 3-4, so we need to do the trade with North to get one of their pick and a handshake they won't take him with the other one if the pick traded to us is the latter pick.

If you were North, would you trade pick 3/4 for two future first picks in the teens and a future second in the thirties?

It honestly seems like a poor trade for both parties. I'd be angry giving up that much as a Melbourne supporter. And as a North supporter I'd be angry at trading away a top 5 pick. Maybe that means the trade works after all? I'm stumped! If we don't get Cadman or Sheezel though, then trading up seems a fruitless and costly endeavour.

reminds me of what i say to my brother and his wife

I think you could both do better  😂

this discussion underscores how badly we were dudded in the LJ trade.

No point lamenting what has past (we were always going to come out of that trade the loser) - we need to optimize what hand we have now

Hate this if true. Two firsts from a strong draft isn't worth compromising for this weaker draft. If anything, trade two future firsts for one future first tied to a likely lowly team like Hawthorn or North.

If we aren't landing a Cadman or Sheezel to add to our front half, then it's not worth compromising for. Those two players will go pick 1-3, so we'd need to land a pick 1-3, which we won't. Hoping the list management team aren't going down this path.

Maybe they know Kozzy is leaving and they’ll regain one/two first rounders for next years draft?

Food for thought…

Dont think of it that way. Think of it as an upgrade from Jackson to Grundy which it is. Maybe longer term we lose out IF Jacko goes on to become a gun. But on form this year we have done very well.

How can you say such a thing when we haven't even selected a player with any pick received from the LJ trade?

Nobody has any idea how it'll turn out.

Even if we end up staying at pick 13, you've got no idea who that player will be. Or what we'll have in store for next year's draft.

Talk about gun jumping.

LJ could do his knee next year for all we know. There's no point worrying about this so early on. It's draft picks at this stage lol!?

It’s someone else.

Precisely. We’re not blindly trying to get into the top 5; this a targeted attempt. It’s someone we expect to be available at 5, but likely not far after (depending on who is blatantly unwilling to entertain trading their pick).

I’d assume one of Ginbey, Allan, Phillipou or Tsatas, and we rate them high enough to consider them worth the haul we received for Jackson. Putting it out there, letting teams marinate on it for a couple of weeks & hoping one comes calling on draft day.

I can’t remember where Gold Coast ended up after their trades this year, but surely they’d be keen to acquire future picks for their supposedly blue chip academy players.

Honestly if we were to salute next year, I really wouldn’t be all that upset if Kozzie were to leave.

2-time premiership player, giving the members lots of good memories. Who wouldn’t have we given up 2 years ago, if it meant winning a premiership?

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I can't agree. It will be utterly devastating when he leaves. The most raw talented player we've had at the club since Jurrah - and he has the work ethic, defense first, team ethos, star power, looks and aggression to boot. Not to mention an extremely rare combination of endurance and speed. Higher output than any small forward in the game and still underrated outside Melbourne fans. Despite all that, you'd be looking at Rankine's trade as the absolute ceiling of what we could get - but we won't. Personally I wouldn't trade him for 2 firsts.

Anyway back on topic - believe the player will be Ginbey. Oliver mk2.

Reckon it’s Sheezal, but would need one of Norths picks.

We have been keen on Ginbey but not sure that was as a top 5, think that’s when we thought West Coast may have taken Hewett and Busslinger

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
