Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think you will find it is 1.40pm our (Qld) time and 2.40pm AEDT. Typical of AFL/ ch 7 getting things wrong which they are also doing have playing it out at Springfield. What ever the temp in Brisbane add 3-4 degrees onto it. No matter what the forecast is it will be bloody hot for our girls playing at that stupid time at a stupid place. Not gonna change it so we need to butter up and get on with it. Play around 10-20% better than today and we have a real chance. Will be tough though. Lions are a very good team.

The Lions are an excellent team and the conditions will favour them. Tough ask but whatever else happens we'll give a good account of ourselves.

Gotta match the Lions on the inside. They beat us up around the contest last time out. Purcell and West going to have to have big games. If they get the ball on the outside and start running at us they are hard to stop. Wardlaw very important for them. I reckon Gilliard will get that job.

Will be very special and emotional if Daisy can lift the cup next Sunday.

Come on Dees. You can do it

Perhaps the 1:30pm AEDT is the Channel 7 broadcast start time and they will be giving the girls and the AFLW the respect of a decent pre-game. Having said that they are just as likely to come on and start the broadcast minutes before the first bounce.

Joke of a spot to hold the Grand Final. AFL should hang their heads in shame. Ony hope there are no injuries due to the premature surface.

Until a few minutes ago, I had never heard of “Tulmur” and I still can’t find it on a map. Strange place to hold an AFLW Grand Final.

It's the land of the Indigenous tribe that the ground is located within.

Boy oh boy WJ haven't you noticed the last few game details with this on under the grounds ordinary address!!

Anyone know about the members ticketing?

Is it Melbourne AFLW members or Melbourne AFL and AFLW members?

I'd be spewing to miss a ticket.

Not 100% sure on this but most likely it’s AFLW members. Probably up to 10 tickets per AFLW barcode.

My Demon Army BFF is quite confident it won’t be a sell-out and she knows about these things just like she knows anything and everything AFLW and AFL. 🙂

The capacity is 8000. Our match yesterday drew under 6000 (two Vic. teams). Bris vs. Adel PF drew 2553. So it’s safe to say it won’t sell out.

Well done & good luck girls…

Whats the Afl thinking playing a GF at a suburban ground with 10k capacity, understand Gabba not available due to Cricjet , what about the Suns ground if Etihad which is neutral ground

Metricon unavailable because already booked for concerts and a festival etc.

Springfield has a capacity of 8000 (only 600 in the grandstand) which would be inadequate if it was here (in Melb). But since it’s up whoop whoop they’ll be lucky to get 5000 imho. So from the point of view of the AFL, it’s perfect. 🙄

Great game but the girls, but now they would rue that 1 point :(

We can winner anywhere and we tend to like QLD.

The game yesterday was great with the pressure and the backline held up very well.  They'll need to be on their best next week.

I think we'll be better prepared compared to our H&A game against them, they smothered us and we could get our game going for 4 qtrs.

Purcell was unusually quiet and West took a while to get going. Both will need to be on from the start.

Agree with Gillard on Wardlaw, she probably won't have the agility or smarts yet but just need to go body on body and give her no space. The only other one for her, and it's not going to happen would be Zanker....so it's Gillard.

The real answer will be to lock it in our forward half.

Need a good 4 Q's from Goldy, Bannan and Mackin this week.

Well done to the women! The overriding feeling of the senior players will be one of relief and that the season starts here.

I am sure they want to test themselves to start the GF better than they did last season.

Doing it for Daisy is emotionally fraught. Just go into each contest like Daisy has her career and that is enough for her - win or lose. If they do that, they will win.

I guess Springfield is better for us than the Gabba/Metricon where the Lions have more experience and maybe get 10 to 20,000 fans and be much louder.

While it will be hot and that favours them, the humidity is forecast to be low so the ball won't be slippery and should help our skills.

The ground itself doesn't offer them any advantage.  It looks short which might help us in attack.  We can still use the width of the ground to our advantage.  Their best bet is to shut down our ball movement by attacking the player rather than trying to possess the ball.  Adelaide did that and so did North but we found a way to overcome their effort.

Can anyone offer some insight into what is their strengths are that we need to negate from the get go?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
