Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Paul Amy who writes extensively on the VFL has tweeted that “Casey Demons top-liners James 'Moose' Munro and Mitch White back for 2023”.

However, he also says that of the fringe players, Aidan Quigley is unlikely to go on and versatile tall Bryce Milford is being linked with Port Melbourne.

I don’t know but NAB AFL Draft Nominations close next Monday afternoon at 3.00pm. I think the list of nominations gets published on the AFL site a few days later. I’d be surprised if Ellison didn’t nominate as he’d be an outside chance to be rookied by a club.

@Whispering_Jackhave to invite these two lads down to Casey for 2023.  Unlucky not to be drafted but would be great additions to our premiership squad. Szybkowski wins plenty of the footy but needs to work on his defensive game. Schuback is an elite ball user and has the speed to break lines across wing and half back.

Mitch Szybkowski
Position: Midfielder
State: Victoria Country
State League Club: Dandenong Stingrays
Community Club: Beaconsfield
Date of Birth: 09/01/04
Height: 186cm
Weight: 86kg

Jonti Schuback
Position: Medium Defender
State: Victoria Country
State League Club: Gippsland Power
Community Club: Maffra
Date of Birth: 18/03/04
Height: 183cm
Weight: 75kg

I think surely it makes sense for Szybkowski to be added to the Dees train on group and if not picked up, then get a gig with Casey.  He gets the footy no problems. He’s a local Beaconsfield boy so makes sense.

Not entirely sure why it makes sense?

He's purely an inside midfielder who lacks speed and his disposal let's him down at times.

Where does he improve our team when we have a plethora of inside mids that would be well ahead of him in the pecking order?

There is a reason why he missed out all together. Slow inside midfielders who lack speed and have disposal issue aren't exactly the flavour of today's game.

On the other hand Jonti Schuback from Maffra has attributes that will come in handy at Casey and he comes from just down the highway.

Maffra, 'just down the highway'. Spoken like true country folk, @Whispering_Jack 😁.

But yes, it's not WA!

I was sorry 2022 Jack Oatey medallist and Norwood 2022 premiership 'mini' ruck Harry Boyd didn't nominate. He's from just 'up' the highway 😉 (Shepparton)

Hopefully both get to Casey but it’s wait and see.

Ouch. He showed ability as a forward and defender for Casey.  Obviously thought he will get more guaranteed games and game time , plus more dollars down at Willy.   I thought Eliison might have nearly earned a late rookie position with the Dees or another club in the latest draft.

Also read that Matt Buntine off to Caulfield Grammarians (Old Boys) in VAFA in 2023.

Last years main Casey players were Munro, White, Ellison, Buntine, Grey, Bell, and Steele, whilst cameo appearances for youngsters like Baldi, Milford, Quigley, Josh Smith and Valentine. Really hope Steele stays as he showed plenty of skill and determination and could be a future rookie.

With coach Corrigan give to the Cats, new coach Whitford might need to add 6-7 new faces to the Casey VFL 14 squad.

Ellison was a solid player at Casey and must have been looked at by some AFL clubs. The fact that he’s gone to Williamstown suggests that there might have been job opportunities involved as well - it’s a long trip from Cranbourne to that neck of the woods.

He will be missed but if you look at the MFC’s recruiting of tall players over the past month or so, it’s probably a logical move for Ellison.

Thanks @Whispering_Jack

Shame to see a local lad like Ellison move to Williamstown. Casey has been very good at uplifting local talent and giving them an opportunity.

I would like to see young Roan Steele develop more in 2023. Hope Casey retains him. Ryan Valentine, Tommy McRae and Myles Shepherd all took their opportunities and would be welcomed back.  Luca Goonan also one kid who I thought showed some talent as a inside mid type.

From the 2022 under 18s group, undrafted duo Luke Bailey from Stingrays and Jonti Schuback from Gippsland look the most likely youngsters now available to come into the program.

So let me get this right. Every team gets 4 byes. The top 6 finalists gets 5 byes as they do not play the Wildcard Round. The two teams that win the qualifying finals get 6 byes as they do not play the Semi Final weekend.

Interesting that 3 Casey players were named in the best in the grand final...Munro, White and Grey.

Shame Ellison is going...good player and quality young man.

Jack Schuback was an absolute champion for Sale in the Gippy League. Way back in the 1950s. He was the first version of Leigh Matthews, but tougher, sought by nearly every team in the VFL as it was known, then. Amongst many older residents of Sale, the man is still held in reverence and prompts several moments of respectful silence.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
