Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

And I’ve put a comma where I think one should be. Your sentence is fine without one, but you leave me little else to highlight. In fact, you leave me naught.

Also, check these out…

There’s a professional pastry chef in the Demon Army who brings plates of deliciousness to matches. These cupcakes were devoured just as the game started last night. The blue food dye is almost indelible. From my spot in the front row, during that miserable first quarter, I looked behind at my comrades and what a sight I beheld. A sea of grumpy and grizzly faces yelling unsavoury comments to the umpires but all with bright blue lips and tongues. 😁

Apparently Brisbane (assuming they make the GF) are pushing for it to be played at the Gabba. The curator is confident it can be done. We’ve never played a W game there.

The Geelong North game is a hard watch. Terrible game. 3 goals in total to 3 quarter time. We have nothing to fear if we face either of these sides in the prelim

I was a little worried about North before this match. But based on their performance tonight, that worry is unfounded. Awful match thus far. Except for the last few minutes, of course. 😄

Tough first quarter, and in the second we said we are not going to take it anymore!

We didn't handle the early pressure, were well beaten at stoppages, and lacked any system going into the forward 50. Concerned about our need to break tackles, but eventually we were able to do it.

Our tackling was great, though we were not rewarded by umpires for it.

Zanker took a while to get into it.

Loved the way Hanks reads the play, thought our best was her and Purcell.

How about Bannan, take it on, wow.

Others who played well were Mithin for her role of closing down others and the number of hard hits she took, also Lampard, Macklin, Gillard, Chaplin, Sheriff, Daisy, Paxy, Lauren, West, and Goldy.

Taylor gets a hard run from the umps. First Quarter, blocked when in mark contest, pushed in the back when rucking and a hit to her head. Doesn’t complain, just keeps going harder.

Great coaching again, Hore, to on the ball and used as an outside carrier really messed with the Crows set up. He got the match ups right after the first, and closed down their ball getters/movers. Loved that he talked to Mithin at half-time, maybe about how to avoid the tackler and to prioritise tagging.

Hore needs to goal when out front, know the moment, a 12 point turn around and gave them a sniff.

Well fought after that, by the team. The Crows didn't like it, LOL, (somebody did belt Randall) we gave them no room, our pack running and tackling hurt them.

Birch loves her footy.

Chaplin looks to be the talker at the start of the second, all buying in.

Good win Dees.

I love the way we now take the game on, and have the players now to do it successfully. Putting Haris in the ruck has been an inspiration.

Above everything else, that was an incredibly physical match, up there with any men's game I've ever seen. Womens' footy between two good sides is now at the point that it is legitimately exciting in its own right as a spectacle and a great representation of what Australian football is all about.

Yes, isn’t it great to see the women’s game developing so fast, and that the D’s are at the forefront of that. It will become the most popular women’s sport overtaking netball and basket ball within a couple of years. Even though the girls play the game a little differently, it is really growing on me - the standard improves so much from year to year, and is now really skilful. Exciting stuff!

Spot on there WCW!  What an absolutely awful game to represent two finalists in the competition.  Neither side kicked a goal after quarter time, and the coaches just loaded the backlines, as no 666 rule applied apart from the commencement of the quarters.

Our win against Adelaide will be critical, as it has now put us on the right side of the draw, as Brisbane and Adelaide are the only teams that remotely look like challenging us.

We actually outmuscled Adelaide to win, which is what they did to us in last seasons GF.  But with Purcell, Hanks and West on the inside they matched them brilliantly.  Two of those players were effectively only playing their 2nd season for us.  And a big shout out to Goldy for shutting down Randall.  But a bit too gutsy a coaching move for me to leave Marinoff unattended, but those mids of ours kept getting the ball before her....

Were the North Geelong scores correctly reported:  No goals by either team after quarter time😲

image.thumb.png.fb3edaea0dbfc7f01151647f96c7c0af.png

Given the number of i50 Geelong should have won by a country mile.  North's high tackle count doesn't seem to have helped them get the ball i50 to score.

Glad I didn't watch it.

Maybe next season for the deees?

This article shows two things - you cave in funding for editorial standardsa and 'newspapers' of all stripes go to pot.

And the aflw has a ways to go to fully be accepted and supported by the media (note: it is not just an erroneous headline. The article is wrong too. Doesn't even mention the dees. Beggars belief)

Kudos to Sinead Goldrick who held Adelaide’s inspirational leader, Chelsea Randall, to just 7 fairly ineffectual disposals. Keeping Chelsea quiet goes a long way to beating the Crows.

Goldy is a unique player...we use her in a shutdown role but she's also used us an attacking take the game on option at the same time.

Holy [censored] they must have been mounted when they wrote this....

First...

Gritty Kangaroos and classy Lions win through to AFLW grand final

Then later.....

Richmond will now meet North Melbourne in the AFLW grand final only a fortnight after the Tigers drew with them to deny the Kangaroos a top-four finish.

Amazingly bad

How exciting was that final three minutes! Made up for what was in general a lacklustre match. Collingwood made it through, but at what cost? Their players would be pretty bruised and banged up. Now they must take on Adelaide in Adelaide.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
