Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Which Demon is the most likely to have a breakout year in 2023?

I reckon Pick 13 will come straight in and have a strong year.

He has a lot of potential and we were lucky he slid to us at 13. We got the man we wanted in the end

I’ve already heard rumours about Pick 13’s mum being a handful.

Grundy for me. He will shake off his injuries of this year and will have something to prove against Collingwood and show what they are missing when they showed him the door. My guess, he will be an All Australian twice out of the next three years!

I'd already consider Petty as "broken out", but he's the obvious one who could have an even bigger impact if he's tried up forward and is successful there. Otherwise he could be an AA level KPD on his current trajectory.

The other I'd put forward is Rivers. His first two seasons were very good for a youngster, but he struggled with managing a knee injury and lacking preseason fitness in 2022. If he's fully fit and gets a full prison, he could very well have a big impact in defense next year. We need to replace Hibberd in the short term, and Rivers looks to have both the defensive and rebounding side to his game to be effective there. Love his booming kick too, which suits our game style transition forward with both Gawn and Grundy as tall marking targets on the wings in transition.

I certainly hope not for Riv! Will be fascinated to see what Grundy brings for us.

My choice is also a fit and stronger Tom Sparrow who will demand greater midfield minutes, however I will not be surprised if any or all of Jordon, Rivers, Bowey, JVR and Howes step up significantly. My take is that Kozzie and Petty have already broken out and will continue to cement themselves into our first 23.

My pick would probably be Riv. Started re-finding form in the back half of the season after getting injured and had a great first couple of years. He has a bit of 'peacock' factor (confidence) and all the physical tools to take his game to the next level. Could even find himself playing more on the ball if he plays his cards right.

My other one would be Chandler to "break out" by getting regular games.

Personally, I would like Josh Schacke to turn into Tom Lynch (of the Toig variety). If that was the case and JVR stuck around, our forward line future looks a lot brighter.

Failing that, I'd like Tom Sparrow to put his stamp on the game. I realise it's hard to barge into the middle when you've got Clarry, Trac and Viney in there, but I'd like to see him start making more of an impact (acknowledging he does do an important support role).

Whoever goes to trac and asks what he did to go from the joker in the pack to the ace of spades. I think we let our standards drop last year a bit.

Honestly i think it could be a Schacke (whihc would be nice) but most likely is JVR.

Please outline what improvements Clarry can make to improve himself and us .

If you are mocking this question as I suspect you are not really funny!

The safest bet would be Harrison Petty. Locks down the AA key defender spot and becomes the brick wall that returns us to the stingiest defence 'by a mile' again, so long as the mids and forwards are doing their jobs up the field. He's just about to turn 23, so there is massive scope for him to go to another few levels and be our May/McGovern for the next 5-10 years.

The wacky bet would be Schache. He's our new Weid, a very 'unlikely' shot to fulfil his potential, but if he did then that really could unlock something different for us, and by virtue, likely have the biggest impact.  I know versatile depth is the major hope we have at this stage, but stranger things have happened and there should be an opportunity if Brown and McDonald reach their end this year. And from the video, it sounds like he's going to work hard over the off-season to try and prove everyone wrong.  Of course every interview contains similar fluff.

The greatest player or bet would be for Harry Petty to lock down a key forward post all season. He is good and  big enough to be a match winner with Tmac JVR BBB and Fritta at  their best. His growth on the forward  line would far outway  any marginal improvement down back.  Disco Tommo Smithy and Tmac can go there even JVR if needed as cameos.

Disco also as a great improvement snd Riv to get over his injury and have his best season plus Bowser is ready to fire after another preseason and stronger body.

I also believe Chandler if given the opportunity will surprise and deliver .

I'm going to go for a player who I think has great potential to be AA this year, if he just adds a little more toughness to his form and goes for marks. Rivers

My tip for breakout is our pick number 13 in the form of Kozzie. Just needs to develop consistency, but that will come I'm sure. Jake Bowey will show his followers and the selectors just how good he is.Should never have been dropped last season. Far too good to play VFL.

I too hope that Schacke will show the ability he must have to go as pick number 2 in the  draft. Would be a true bonus.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
