Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Regardless of the extent of the injury, once we were knocked out by Brisbane he should've been placed in cotton wool. Idiotic decision to let him keep playing/training for Casey.

That’s crap! Players love playing footy and that’s what they are trained to do.

Yes they sure can but they have had a proud and long history and plenty of opportunities to perfect a Good Show.

No expense spared of course helps.

I see it as a Horses for Courses and we will be a republic in 20 or 50 or 100 years depending on our collective Will to create it. History is reducing their realms each decade or more like each century.

Not on my mortal watch will we be a republic and I am quite happy to let UK be the traditional Monarchy that keeps the people happy in easier or tough times. Their Govt like ours had just had a change for the better (Leader) and we are in good hands with ScoMo and his malcontents safely deposed for what I expect is at least 2/3 terms of righteous thinking of what they want to mean!

The spoils of our VFL Cup are yet to unfold but some gems are likely when the dust settles from the quirky precocious  youth to potential AFL' ers of 2/3 years and Sam is he Jacko's replacement or do we need Brodie Grundy as well to cushion big Maxy?

A better health fortune snd game plan for 2023 plus hunger from all will be a great tonic fir another very serious assault on another Flag.

I almost agree with you.  We need both IMO of course that assumes the Weid wants to stay.

Maybe he was going to have surgery anyway to remove the metal?

👍

Calm down all.  My whispers are that the plate is about to be / has been removed, as planned.
So, he may be seen in a moon boot - be warned.

but did he in fact re injure that foot? :-)

Who knows?  Unless “the reinjury” bent the plate or screws I would doubt it would be removed at this stage had it actually been “reinjured” in the sense that the same place had fractured again.
Webber?

Why does it have to be a whisper though. Can't the club just make a simple statement?

after the 2018 ef the club supposedly had 11 (icr exact number) players sent for operations. we didn't find out about this for 6 months or more and even then with little detail.

so there is nothing unusual about this and because it is out of season player privacy probably comes into play

But it is ok to hang 2 coaches out to dry. Obviously their privacy doesn't matter.

I get that, but as far as we know McDonald missed a VFL GF by re-injuring a serious and known foot injury.  Or so we think. Did he or didn't he? It's hardly a privacy issue.

fair enough in mcdonalds case

i was just talking generally about players having ops post-season to clean up injuries they've been carrying and playing through

don't get me wrong, i'd love to get a good run-down from the club of all the players having post season ops, but it seems fairly common practice we only find out much later

They are trained to win flags for the MFC. Once the MFC was knocked out of finals everything should have gone towards preparation for 2023. TMac came back way too early to try and play finals for MFC in 2022. Once that was done no need to keep persisting.

Did you have an intimate knowledge of his progress?

Yeah. Lisfranc injury - extremly hard to come back from quickly and in most cases come back the same, metal plate in foot - very hard to run again fully within 12 weeks.

It doesn't take an intimate knowledge Demons11. Some things are obvious.

False equivalence.

One is an investigative journalist reporting on a public interest story, the other is a club releasing medical information about players out of season (when it doesn't have an impact on this week's games).

He missed a Casey GF - it was in season for him. So the logic used here is say nothing about it before the GF and then you don't have to after because it's a privacy issue?!

No matter - we are just going around in circles. None of us really know and we're not going to be told. I, for one, will move on.

The off season still is important for recruiting Drafting players and delisting plus injury surgeries and rehabilitation.

It doesn't mean we should be deprived of information or updates on any matters.

we thrive on this info and it makes us look forward to next season do much more!!

Some things are just obvious to someone who can read what a lisfranc injury is on google.  I’ll take the view of the Melbourne doctors and high performance team over you Dr. Google

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
