Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A message to the marketing department

On some occasions such as the Fed Square pre-QB match celebration and the open training at Gosch’s before our QF, Zurich were handing out flags and mini-figure key rings and plastic beakers.
My guess is that it’s not done at the ground anymore because much of this free stuff is left after the match and ends up as rubbish.

I go to the football to watch the football, not to receive little trinkets of garbage.

Little trinkets of garbage are so related to many of our third and fourth quarters, this season. They (the trinkets) might have been quite appropriate and at the same time, condescending. it would also be of some early value to receive little trinkets of garbage in that scenario early - just before game time - as an indicator and pacifier of what was about to come onfield.

That is a declaration that you don't go to games when the Filth is playing. Neither do I, for similar reasons.

And while we’re at it:

  • The IT department have also been silent. I’d be very suspicious.
  • HR need to have a good long look at themselves. Employees punching up in Prahran is really not on. Who's running HR down there?
  • Building Services is crap. The toilets were disgusting at 11pm on Friday.
  • Sales also need to look in the mirror. Only a 14 percent increase in membership after a flag leaves a lot to be desired.
  • And as for the engineering department . . . don't get me started on Goody - that's all I can say.

Really and truly . . . what the hell is going on Pertie?

it's funny that i made mention of the thunderclap sticks and suddenly that's become the basis for the whole thread. There is more to it than 'trinkets', but I guess i'll leave it there. The are many ways to create extra hype for games and drag a few new supporters in, maybe some neutrals too. We were given prime time on many Fridays and Saturdays, but did nothing with them. There was barely any atmosphere at all. People will say it should be organic, but many of our marquee slots were against interstate teams. As such, the atmosphere was dull. To whoever mentioned the Demon Spirit merch range, that's AFL arranged not club.

I'm not sure this is a marketing issue but my feeling is that who we are trying to get on board as members might be part of this issue.

I remember when PJ was in charge, he was very big on 3 areas of conversion: new arrivals to Melbourne from interstate, the international student market/Chinese migrant community and the Casey area which CS had been cultivating.

When we made finals in '18, a lot of the faces in the crowd weren't necessarily people you would automatically expect to be Melbourne supporters. There were heaps of non-Anglo people in the crowd along with lots of converts from the market PJ had been targeting. There was not one complaint about us being timid back then. If anything, our crowd support in those two finals got us over the line. It wasn't quite Collingwood or Richmond levels of passion but we were very vocal. Listen to the reaction to Mitch Hannan's goal and tell me otherwise.

While presiding over a premiership isn't anything to sneeze at, I've heard Perty mostly focusing on convincing former members to come back and supporters who aren't members to get on board when he has been talking about growing the club. There is potential out there to grow it that way but it's limited potential.

We have done well in embracing modernity as of late. I reckon PJ's strategy was better and will generate more passionate crowds.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
