Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Coaching was appalling in the second half Goodwin made no moves. Should have thrown Petty or Petracca forward and someone else into the middle. I can’t believe he is a Premiershio Coach. Fagin had him on toast.

Inside 50 entries killed us.

No variation. No cross ground thought.

We lost. Brisbane didn't win. They will be smashed my geelong.

And so would we as Gawn,Trac, Lever are hurt. The rest fold when pressure is on. No forward line at all so in my opinion the Lions have a better chance than we would have.

Umpires in last quarter

50 against Pickett up other end goal

soft holding to McStay - goal

Bailey pushed Hunt square in middle of back - goal

Andrews chops Brown arm 15 metres out - no free

just to close out game umpire free against Lever not being tackled and 5Om to gift it

Umpires pathetic influenced result

Did we get a free forward of centre after half-time?

HQ want Cats in the GF. They have an easy kill now.

It’s never there, they are always up the ground. Collingwoods forwards stay deep for a lot longer than ours do.

We are always running with the ball carrier. It’s not sustainable as we found out.

As far as I’m concerned, we just didn’t play “Finals footy”. Sydney lifted their pressure and intensity, as did Brisbane. For us it just looked like a home and away game and hence we deserved that result.

It’s incredibly disappointing way to finish the year, and to think they go by that motto “when all is said and done, more is said than done”. Well, Gawn said he wanted to win one in front of our fans… and all he did was say it. Not do it.

Gotta say, I really hate the umpire excuse. I hate it when all teams use it, but I especially hate it when we use it. Should have buried the game in the first quarter. Should have kicked another 5-6 goals easily throughout the game.

We let them get easy goals at the ends of quarters. There’s the game right there.

We absolutely choked and all ire should be directed at us for many reasons.

We don't have high skill level in this current crop of players.  When an opponent matches our contest we are cooked. Teams know if they pressure us we will turn it over MOST of the time.

We'll have the occassional game where it will all click, but it's 1 in 5 at best.

We got lucky one of those games was the Grand Final last year.  That was the exception, not the norm.

Tonight is our norm. 2022 is our norm.

Selwyn Griffith should probably start looking for a new job.

Our last quarters this year have been absolutely deplorable.

Teams have known they can run over us, and have done so.

Also, why bother switching up positions with 5 minutes to go if you've been stubborn up to that point, even at selection?

It's probably early for this in the wash up, but Griffith did oversee Brisbane when they went out in straight sets a couple of times too...

Disappointed and angry but realistically we didn’t tinker with our premiership formula which is understandable for 1 season but the game evolves and so must we next year.

Although we were still likely to lose can someone explain exactly what Lever got penalised for that ruined the chance of a great finish? Typically just ignored by the AFL sycophantic commentators

Probably better to lose now respectfully than get totally pantsed next week against Geelong. It was so evident most of our players were carrying injuries by our performances in the second half of the season, we were just totally cooked. Now its time to let the players have a good break over the off season and refresh for 2023.

Melbourne are still the best side in the comp I believe but injuries, boring team selection and a terrible forward game plan have prematurely derailed our season.

Looking forward to see JVR, Howes and Grundy next year ready to smash it in pre season. The Dees will be up and about in 2023!

Beaten two weeks in a row by teams who were more desperate than us,

Especially n the second half when the game was there to be won.

So much for wanting to win it in front of family and supporters

70 point second half. When we talk about how bad our ‘defence’ is that doesn’t mean the back 6 - the whole team starting with the lack of forward pressure is to blame.

Oliver had one uncontested possession in the 2nd half. He needed help with Berry but he was beaten badly.

ANB tried to save his career but I feel just exemplified that we need a forward line, not a bunch of fit robots that do jobs. Sparrow, Harmes, ANB, and little Charlie is that because he can’t find the footy…

Feel for Melksham who is probably done after that. Hibberd too.

Addition to the coaching staff would be a Ball Movement coach that can get us kicking to a forward line coming at them.

One thing I will say is that we can’t deviate from what we have built, the changes needed are only adjustments. Some are large adjustments but we had a long campaign, half our best 10 players had injuries, they weren’t managed well to perform when it matters and that happens, so we can bounce back.

Make no mistake though - absolute embarrassment to go out in straight sets against the Lions.

I don't think we can afford to let Hibberd go yet.

Charlie Cameron would kill Bowie and we have pretty poor small defender depth.

Rubbish. It's the game plan. Do you think the key forwards like leading into the pocket, or having the ball kicked on their head?

But we need mid sized forwards who do more than ANB, Spargo and Sparrow.

Well we were a laughing stock for 56 years so it's only appropriate for us to go out this way. $1.20 favourites on your home deck against an interstate side and give no yelp. Normal service resumed.

Completely arrogant season from all involved. How about talking about how we are still trying to change the culture and it is a work in progress instead of spouting off about this great culture we have after one good season. This club just doesn't understand what it takes to be at the top.

This season was a complete and utter failure. From the players to the coaches it was not only a lost opportunity to have another crack at a flag, but a terrible regression in our attitude to competing when things aren't falling into place for us.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.
For all of our “learnings”, we’ve learnt nothing.

The most disappointing part for me about this season is that we walk away without having unearthed a single young player who I think can really help us improve next year.
Casey lost one game all year, yet we debuted one player all year despite wavering form and injuries. Our big move was bringing Melksham back in and throwing Petty forward with 3 minutes left in the season.

It was clear that things haven’t been working well since the halfway mark of the year. Yes we finished second and that was a good result, but our form was very up and down, particularly against good sides. And yet week after week nothing changed.
The same predicable ball movement.  The same dysfunctional forwardline. Hell even our defense has been leaking goals left right and centre.

To start 10-0 and go out in straight sets is an unacceptable result.

We can all sit back and watch JVR, Chandler, Dunstan. And Bowie carve it up in the VFL tomorrow.

It's criminal to not have given them a better run at seniors based on their form and the lack of form and fitness of others.

Wat does it say to these young blokes and subs who sit there all game watching injured team mates run out of legs in the second half.

Insanity indeed

I predicted the 1st one but when another one went though for the same stupid handball inside 50 ..... 🤬

Mate, chill the [censored] out. I watch all the games and replays of the games. We looked in trouble at the end of the 2nd and we barely won a contest after that. We are obviously hobbling over the line.  Soon we will find the extent of the injuries. Loading isn’t a theory but we’ll done for getting personal. Classy stuff.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
