Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

From Bigfooty:

All a bit ho hum, really.

  • Looking forward to taking Melbourne out of the finals.
  • We can’t pressure like Sydney is and we won’t get Melbourne so off. Plus we have no idea against Melbourne whatsoever
  • Melbourne look very fragile, skittish even.
  • Blueprint to beat melb is clearly shown by pies and swans this year. High pressure and switched on defensively as a whole team. Whether we are capable of producing that consistently across 4 qtrs is the big question
  • No way we can play Mitch and mathieson on the G. Need runners on the G. Let’s see if we’ve learnt our lesson
  • Playing smaller in the forward half critical I think
  • Sydney just showed as well you need a **** tonne of pressure so Melbourne's wingers can't frolick away
  • Melbourne lost all structure in their forward half tonight. It was beautiful to see.
  • Bring on the Demons. We have nothing to lose. We lose, and it is what it is. Melbourne lose, and it's straight sets in a year they were meant to have their dynasty.
  • Melbourne have been very beatable all year, it’s really only us that have made them look like invincible.
  • Zorko to rip the Deamons hearts out by playing his best game for the year and totaly refusing to engage in the niggle.
  • The only difference with the Dees is they defend, Tigers don’t. Only slight spanner in the works for us.
  • One of my biggest observation was the Swans ability to stop the ball at the source. Constantly intercepting their handballs in close, not allowing the release kick. You need to be there to pressure them not necessarily with a tackle, but deny that first link in the chain. Swans did it all night.
  • They didn't wait for Dees player to take possession. They literally crashed into them so there was no clean exit at all.
  • Who would've thought. Melbourne struggle against teams applying pressure...
  • FWIW they aren’t overly confident on Dees board.
  • Because of the kerfuffle last game I reckon this is going to be a nasty game.
  • If we are in the game at half time, I will back us in.
  • They're too busy arguing about the % of Dees supporters in the crowd from last nighy
  • Always, there have been soft kills everywhere last few years and we’ve missed every one of them.
  • The fact that they've belted us every time is going to do their heads in if the game is competitive into the last quarter.

My favourites:

  • How am I supposed to concentrate at work all week?
  • We have no smart small defender that can go with the skinny Melbourne bloke. Forgot his name. Kicked 6 in last years GF. He's going to chop us up.

Unbelievably confident group of supporters considering they lost both games this year by 10 goals. It's funny how one average game by us and all of a sudden any team out there thinks they can beat us.

FWIW, I'm wary of the Lions. I just feel it's not going to be as easy this time and the pressure will go up a notch. If we lose on Friday night this season will be an enormous fail.

Beating a side 3 times in the same season is a hard ask.

I also worry that our players will go in with the mindset that we've had easy kills against them twice and it will just happen again.

The only thing working in our favour is their deplorable MCG record.... which sadly is almost as poor as ours has been recently.

I will keep that in mine if we get to play Sydney or the Pies in the big dance.

I am not saying it can’t be done. But it’s difficult.

Besides we have Trac Fritta and Spargo under injury cloud. Winning this will be a miracle.

With odds being at $1.30 for a semi-final, a win won’t be a miracle, it’s very much expected.

Only once has a team who’s finished 2nd gone out in straight sets in the last 10 years…. And it was Brisbane. In my opinion, Brisbane won their grand final last week and a loss to them, will be simply put, an embarrassment. I’m wary of them and think we’ll have to play very well but, a loss to them will be a disaster for this footy club.

Not from the fans but players re the impact of the Zorko incident on this game.

Starcevich said he expected emotions to run high at the MCG, but not be over the top.  "I think it'll be pretty fiery," he said.  "I think the intensity of the finals will ramp it up a little bit, it always does.

May:  "...Goody sort of sat us down and just said we're not going to be that club that run their mouth all the time and get personal...We just want to play footy and beat them on the scoreboard ...people will probably be thinking that we'll be coming after him in that sense, but nah, what's most important to us right now is we need to win otherwise our season is done".

Vastly different.

Makes for interesting dynamics and viewing.

Lions will lose focus if they get lippy.  Much prefer our focus on the scoreboard.

A very simple and quick way to end the Zorko debacle is Viney to lay a bone crunching tackle on him at the first bounce, Dees win the clearance, bang goal. That will shut them up REAL quick.

I have a lot of time for Fagan. I think he is a really nice man and I think the players love him for good reasons. But their team has become a bunch of faux tough guy fools who call themselves Barometers and sport rats tails like it's 1987.

Maybe if more of them concentrated on footy like Lachie Neale,  they would actually reach their potential. Their list is stacked with talent, but not with leadership.

You know what used to fire me up more than anything? Massive bumps that were quickly followed by goals. Think Neitz on Mccabe or Whelan on Hird for TJ's goal. Few things fire me up in an instant more than those kinds of moments and I assume it fires the players up 10 times as much!

Just jumped on their Bigfooty forum and had a rather uneventful discussion with a Lions supporter over there. It went like this:

Me: Brisbane sucks!

Brisbane supporter: Hey, stop talking bad about my team, man.

Me: Why don't you make me.

Brisbane supporter: I don't make trash, I burn it.

Me: Then I guess you're a garbage man.

Brisbane supporter: I know you are, but what am I?

Me: A garbage man.

Brisbane supporter: Oh, I know you are, but what am I?

Me: A garbage man.

Brisbane supporter: I know you are, but what am I?

Me: A garbage man.

It went on and on like this for about 50 responses across a few days now with no signs of slowing down. They're a stubborn bunch at Springfield.

  • Do these people not realise that that is the definition of their team? They've gone to butter in every one of their important games in recent years.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
