Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Weird has shown plenty the last couple of games as a ruck forward.

Be interested to see him played in that role for the pre season and into next. Just might be his future role at AFL level.

Couldn’t play him, Tmac and Brown in the same forward line but you could play him Tmac and JVR who has a lot more mobility and much better below his knees

Need to also play some time up forward in VFL. His role is 1.5 goals and 30% ruck plus a few marks around the ground. He took 4 marks today which is not stellar for the first ruck.

I like the experimentation.

Had hoped for more from Joel Smith today. I think it's his fourth game back at this level

No you can't. Weid is not a 3rd tall forward at AFL level.

And your pregame spiel on JVR was off the mark. We played 3 banged up talls in BBB, Gawn and Jackson, and none of them could give 100% effort across the whole game. Regardless of the level of play, JVR gives effort every time you see him. And I don't see how JVR is any different to Jye Amiss, who made an impact for Freo in a final.

Wakefield has been awesome. So exciting. Has a bit of Fritta about him.

Mitch Brown is an amazing VFL player. I think we should delist him but Casey should sign him up. He looks like he can play 10 more years at this level.

I was thinking the same thing delist and sign him up as a Casey player with onfield coaching.

Most of those afl listed dees players were playing like people with a point to prove, with hunger and dare.

Why the dis-connect between the afl and vfl sides, if the boys played with that much desire last night the result I reckon could have been different. If there's one thing we need to recapture over summer, its got to be going back to playing for each other.

I've liked how Weid has developed as a ruckman, but he's not good enough as an AFL forward.

Makes so much more sense than Grundy.

JVR is so cute. Spoke like a true first year player. Get him a girlfriend ASAP so he doesn’t contemplate doing a Jackson!

That's the ticket. We need him to have an emotional connection with Melbourne and a steady girlfriend who loves Melbourne is a must.

You could pluck someone from the crowd and they’d make an impact with the way the dogs were defending in the second half against Freo.

Brown, Melk and Jackson did the job in the first half when the team played to the game plan. JVR would’ve been stuffed at half time and needing a miracle to impact in the second half.

Big preseason and he’ll be right to go.

Casey Dees  did a lot that the Melbourne Dees couldn't do last night.  Ball movement and F50 entries so much cleaner.  Some nice young prospects as well (esp. JVR, AMW).  Nothing will ease the deep pain of last night, but that was the equivalent of a Panadol.

Gawn and Jackson are both ruckman

Weid would be our 2nd tall and pinch hitter in the ruck

JVR would be the third tall. Max couldn’t have played 90%ruck last night and Freo don’t bomb the ball in they come in quick once they play plenty of lateral footy in their back half to spread the oval and get separation from their forwards looking for the 1v1 and when the ball hits the deck they pounce with Walters, Frederick, Switzkowski, the resting mid etc. Lobb and Darcy when resting are the pack braking forwards for Freo, JVR is not ready to do that at AFL level yet

Brown isn't the player he once was, only kicked one goal in 2 finals this year. He shouldn't be an automatic lock for AFL games. In fact no-one should other than Trac, Clarry & Gawn. We lost last night at the selection table. It was obvious that we wouldn't kick a winning score with the same players as last week. Still can't understand how we went into the last 2 weeks with only one tall in the forward half. We could've selected JVR instead of Melksham and still would've been better off. Gawn as ruck and Jacko as ruckrover. However Goody trusts his system and that failed us this year. His system relied on us being superfit and disciplined which we were not. May was very undisciplined last week and Kossie this week. Such a shame.

It was great to watch and we really were a level above the lions.
The young kids do look really good. JVR and Bowey look like they will slot right in round 1 next year.
TMac will be good back in the seniors and if Tomlinson and Dunstan are required they’ll be fine.
Smith is working back nicely and I can see why they want him around. If he could have a good run at it, who knows.
Chandler and Bedford have something about them, but need a role.
AMW is the real surprise packet for me. I’ve liked what he’s done, but today was a little different. Just looked like he could change a game if needed. It makes me wonder, his background is NT Thunder. I just wonder what it would have been like if he was at a Brighton Grammar and had regular coaching, routines, etc. The talent is clearly more than we see in most draftees, looking forward to seeing him another year in the system. Could be anything.

Chandler looked great again today - cannot see why he hasn't been given an opportunity at AFL.

Bedford has so much going for him - but he tends to spend it before he controls it a lot of the time, which is very frustrating (and for him too i imagine).

Sam looked good all day - and so pleased he looks to have found a role that could well get him back to AFL.

Haven't watched much Casey this year, but who in the world is this Moniz-Wakefield kid? Looks an AFL talent based on that game.

He’s had a number of little injury set backs but every week he’s good for a few special things. His marking for his size and his ability to make a quick decision with the ball are both valuable traits.

Apart from JVR he looks like a real prospect, probably the best of the bunch that have yet to play an AFL game.

That's fair and JvR has done some rucking this year as well so club clearly thinks he can pinch hit there.

A pretty dominant outing against the number 4 AFL listed team, good to see Mitch Robinson getting plenty thrown back at him. Another great team effort by Casey.!!!

Great performance by Casey. It was a team effort all around.

If we're dead set wanting to save cap money then forget Grundy and trial Weideman as a ruck/forward. Give him one last hit because the last two Casey games I've watched him as a ruckman he's dominated.

He could relieve Gawn but also play as that 2nd tall with JVR as the 3rd tall forward with maybe Harrison Petty/Tom McDonald.

JVR is the real deal. I've banged on about him far too much this year. Told you he's the real deal @Bitter but optimistic. The excitement is real. His 2nd efforts and defensive tackling pressure for such a big dude is insane.

Chandler and Bedford need to play more senior games next year, it's as simple as that. The dynamic and X factor these two have is untapped imo. Spargo and ANB are under pressure imo because I think they've been incredibly disappointing this year.

Blake Howes has certainly grown. He looks 192cm tall instead of the 190cm as listed. I would also like to see him train in his natural position as a 3rd floating forward. Reminded me of Gunston when he took that mark.

Corey Ellison is absolutely worth a look imo even as a train on player. Has solid hands and is physically mature as well. Rarely gets beaten.

How exciting is Andy Moniz Wakefield? His ariel work and leap is very impressive. He's such a unique player that I actually don't know who I'd compare him to in the AFL. Strong summer and hopefully few NAB games next to Kozzie.

Onto the big dance!

Excellent win by Casey.  Not quite a painkiller for last nights nightmare, but at least the club & supporters have a reason to look forward to next week.

Great to see Bowey, Chandler and Tmcd all showing why they should have played last night. Weideman was excellent in the ruck but he was only against Lions 19yo 4th level ruck in Henry Smith.  Bedford had a good game as did Turner, Tomlinson, Baker and Dunstan.

JVR will be very good.
AMW can be a bright spark with guidance and a Choco’s development academy !!
Howes has some nice moves and will be better with a full preseason

Really hope Casey can win the GF. It’d be a great boost for the youngsters and a reward for the vets like Mitch Brown (and Munro and White).

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
