Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm going to defend ANB. On many occasions he was surrounded by at least 3 Swans players with no support. He works hard and gets in the right spots to defend, link up or make a contest but he's not the sort of dynamic player to win in these sort of situations.  ANB fumbled a bit but he wasn't alone.

Was pretty bland against the Swans from what i witnessed.  Kicked one reasonable 'on the end of a chain' goal but certainly didn't impress or look a likely dangerous forward.

JVR was better on Sunday and has shown more signs (on occasions) of being a viable forward option at some point next season & onwards.  He might even be ready (just) for a short stint at AFL level now.  Not in a final though for mine.

The forward at Casey that actually looks the most dangerous (in a form / goal kicking / accuracy) sense right now is, weirdly enough, Mitch Brown.  Would he get picked?  Highly doubt it.

Mitch Brown knows how to play like a forward at least give him a shot I say and Dunstan to replace Brayshaw in the middle Gus back to half back / wing

Yes I agree. I doubt he will get up for next week. Goody also said that TMac could be in the mix depending on how he trains today. It is stating the bleeding obvious to say we need to do something different with the forward set up. I wouldn’t be averse to JVR and Bedford coming in, but doubt that will happen. Melksham, as good as he was against Carlton, is past it. Brown won’t get dropped, even though he was embarrassing last night. He needs to play within the 50 metre arc and stop this ridiculous running up the ground. I would have Bowey in, he is tough, smart and always hits a target. Maybe push Salem to defensive wing. Jackson, do we need to play 2 rucks against Brisbane? I don’t think so. For me, he goes out for that reason, as he gives us nothing up forward.

Like I have said previously Salem never plays well in first couple of games after injury. Bowey has to at least be considered.

ANB tries and tries but last night I found him very trying. He is too often indicative of our forward line - a rebound wall.

Do not see TMac as a saviour and has no VFL game before next week. In the last ressies game Weid, JvR and M Brown much better.

Think Harmes will be out so that saves Melksham.  FD does not like change so one forced change will be it, probably Dunstan but would like to see Smith. Trac an unknown at this point.

FD meeting will be like “we beat them a ftnight ago so who are we forced to change?”

Disregarding that time when he was best on ground in one of course

4 years ago?... And played no more than half a season since and 5 games in a year where we have been desperate for a tall forward. So I’d say the coaches have seen enough.

Mitch has tended to struggle with the step up but he's presently the in form forward for Casey that's for sure.  Who comes out?

Also you have to deliver the ball better for a Mitch Brown 'In' to pay off IMV.  Tracc,  Viney, Lingers need to lower their vision more often to have any chance of our forwards kicking a winning score regardless of who's in.  Lingers & Spargoat hit Fritta up last night with two nice short passes.  More of this pls.

The Gus experiment through the middle worked once and that was it.  Agree he should be straight back to the wing.

Dunstan or Bedford in for ANB?  We lack speed and receive / break away ability around the contest IMHO and Dunstan doesn't really offer that.  He is elite by hand though which might help distribute and can also kick the odd goal.

Out....

Soft tackles broken too easy

Silly chip kicks intercepted by the opposition.

Kicking to the pocket all the time.

Weid. I know he didn't play but that's reason enough to move him on after 6 years.

In.

The desire to win.

Leadership.

Kick up a few bottoms eg...Kozzie....didn't even chase that much. Totally disengaged.

Anb....passenger in so many important games this year.....a big serve from Goody.

Melk ( worse game ever and should be dropped. Fooled us by playing 2 good games from forty)

Jackson a boot up the......

Bbb .....can see why North rid of him at times.....big boot up the proverbial

Traac was injured  but he doesn't seem as good as last year when fit.

The will to win a premiership.

As for tge physical outs...

Melksham for Tmac.

Anb for Bowie.

Bowey should be straight in for Salem.  He was a mile off it last night.  You aint making that ground up in one week IMV as he's coming from too far back after his interrupted pre-season and late arrival.

Anyone have any idea in what day this game is likely to be played next weekend?

Depends on what happens today. Cat win we should play Friday night Pies win and it should be sat night, still the AFL tend to make it up as they go along anyway so who knows.

We had enough of the ball to win the game so I can't see too many changes being necessary.

Harmes. I was about 40 metres from the incident, and I reckon he will miss 2 weeks. Yes, Cripps got off  but I he should not have. You can't do that. The noise of both the forearms to head and shoulder contact, and the thump as the body hit the ground was very, very loud. Very lucky for there not be a serious injury.

ANB for fumbling, decision making errors, and getting in other players' way.

Melksham for not executing a major part of his role. Absolute momentum killer.

A 2nd tall forward option, not Gawn or Jackson.

Having said that, I hope Dunstan, M Brown etc... don't get called up. For mine, they are not AFL players. Give Chandler, Bedford, Bowey, JVR a call up if necessary.

The reason we have no one coming through to cover for injuries and poor form is that the Coach  regularly says he will be " ok " or flatly refuses to change a problematic line up..experiment even ,when an opportunity arises.

Mind you  we'd want Trac if he was 95% good to go

I was there mate. We need that extra tall up forward. Who else you taking out for McDonald? Melksham missed two crucial ones anyway.

I think RPFC summed it up in his post earlier in this thread, albeit about ANB not BBB. A replacement for BBB would need to wait till summer. You can't replace him in an elimination final.

Yeah post game frustration on my part

200cm 100 kg and competes like a rag doll ,albeit one who can kick straight. But the only alternative if TMac isn't ready is Weideman and that's just crazy

Yeah two crucial misses and half the team fell over or handpassed to Sydney all night.

He was pressure  and as much as they need extra big  tall strong I'd almost play TMac for rag doll Brown and hope Fritta and Gawn can catch it.

Max doesn't tap to our players anyway .

Problem with TMac is I don't think he comes back from foot injuries with any sort of form to speak of.

That's me jogging past you while you blame Melksham for bad coaching an game wide lousy decisions from the  Captain down

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
