Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney

Something about Sydney and Collingwood, our system goes to absolute tripe against these two clubs.

So disappointing we continually serve up absolute rubbish against the swans.

Sydney too good. They have a better game plan. I’ve said it since half way in the year that the game has moved away from contest and stoppage. They have the defensive pressure to counteract our contest game and have a better outside and HB game.

Salem on the HB is not the answer anymore, Bowey inexperienced and Brayshaw is a turnover merchant.

We are not going to trouble the other top 4 this year I’m afraid.

Scott and Longmire are still coaching after 10 years for a reason..

Really ill disciplined and fumbling tonight.

Spargo and Brown were liabilities. (Brown is cooked.)

Petracca not fit.

Jackson given a lesson.

Goodwin made a big error changing the game plan in Round 23 by encouraging kicks into the corridor. Too late to learn it and this cost 2 goals.

There is merit to that, it's not so much doing it, it is how slow they do it that causes the problem high kicks instead of bullet passes.

If anyone thinks we're a sure thing against Brisbane you're delusional.

They will be primed and fierce.

Too true. The more you lose to someone the closer you come to beating them, really didn't want this rematch as well because of the Zorko circus. Ah well

All our loses have been the same this year. and I think 6 of the 7 have been at the MCG.

We don’t have a home. Like Roma or travellers. At our best on the road. The MCG has become like a cage for us.

Oh ffs, give me a spell, Spargo a liability. It was turnovers that hurt us and he doesn’t turn it over

Sydney Geelong GF.

We've been off the pace all year, not helped by injuries. Hibberd maybe shouldn't have played tonight, Salem hasn't been the same since he came back. Then there are a few of the 'fringe' players who were really solid last year but just haven't put it together in 2022, ANB being the prime example.

For mine, best long term result would be to lose against Brisbane so we can have a decent break, freshen up mentally and physically and be primed to attack next season.

Can we request the game at the Gabba? We are dead set sh*thouse at the G

Absolutely agree with that.

Since our impressive win over St Kilda in round 8 we’re 2-5 at the MCG and one of them we stole one over Carlton.

The stats don’t lie and I feel we may have gone to the SCG with less pressure and a rock solid interstate record under belt. May have been a different result.

They pressure the ball user/corale.

Feel sorry for him as it must be embarrassing, but Ben Brown is cooked. Way too many passengers tonight and it wasn't loading.

Going to have to beat the Lions and then Collingwood or Geelong to make it. and i'm guessing Sydney again in the grand Final.

And it's interesting that if we'd won tonight we would have probably been playing Collingwood or Geelong in a prelim anyway (unless the Dogs or Freo win 2 finals)

So the same outcome except we don't get the week off because we now can only reach a PF with a win next week against the Lions

The bottom line is we need to play a lot better (and that's quite possible)

Our players just need a mindset of making amends.  No good stewing over what went wrong

And we won't be playing Sydney again unless both us and them reach the GF

Anyone who doesn't acknowledge the reality of loading in professional sport simply doesn't know what they're talking about. anyway back to the topic.

You clearly missed the point of the loading debate. Nobody denies that loading takes place. It was the nonsense that we were losing games due to it, and we would peak come finals time.

Gee wiz.. where do you start?

I was waiting for our senior leaders and stars to stand up but yet they just went missing. Petracca, Viney, Lever, Brayshaw Salem, Gawn were all terrible tonight. Brayshaw looked completely cooked with that knee bandage and Salem was scared of physical contact.

Gawn and Jackson got absolutely smashed by a ruckman that's been a battler throughout his career. Gawn paid no respect tonight which was disappointing and Jackson was a witches hat out there.

Nibbler was god awful, in fact he was genuinely terrible. I'm sorry but he can't be getting games next year. He's been ordinary for the last 7 weeks and yet we continue to persist with his momentum killers and ability to somehow [censored] up every transition chains.

You look at the way Sydney's half forwards operate and they're so much cleaner with the ball. A gun small forward should be high on our list come the trade period.

Thank you for your time and effort Melky. Enjoy retirement.

Rivers, Sparrow and Brown were fumbles galore.

Where the hell was Pickett?? Our forward line is still an obvious mess and we've had all year to rectify this by getting the right set up. The Gawn up forward experiment simple has to cease, he's not a a forwards [censored] and never will be.

A few could hold their hands up high. May and Oliver especially were our two best and Oliver especially tried to will the team on his back but unfortunately he had no support whatsoever.

I thought Harmes was good on his wing. Did a lot of defensive chop out down back and that's all you can ask.

Unfortunately we looked completely cooked and banged up. Guys with knee bandages tonight looked so poppy and unfit.

Onto next week we go.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
