Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Beaten by a better team, no need to panic

We were a little bit off outside of a couple of patches, very confident we will bounce back against the Lions next week

lots of teams who win multiple flags have lost qualifying finals

I agree but we look quite banged up.  The group next us spotted Trac struggling very early and mentioned it a lot.  That got me looking and when you start to notice the limping and strapping where you haven’t seen it before, you can’t stop seeing it.  On top of a Trac, Kozzy looks very sore with heavy knee strapping, BBB too.  Dogga’s knee also strapped.  Salem looked off.

We live to fight another day.

That result may be a blessing in disguise.

Win tonight and no changes and same midset and we could easily lose a PF.

I think if we regroup and make a few changes, we beat the Lions and take a different side and mentality into a PF which might get us another GF.

All is not lost, YET.

Now stop talking about winning it in front of family and friends. Ban interviews this week. Rejig the forward line, by bringing in another key forward Weid/Tom/JVR, get Bowey in and drop Melk and ANB.

When you apply supreme pressure to a side, the poorly skilled ones fall apart, as we saw tonight.

6 OOB on the full and countless disposal errors which cost clearances, turnovers and ultimately goals.

Yes we can make a PF, but without changes we could stop there.

Ok so if may and harmes didn't give away those goals from brain fades Melksham kicks the 2 he missed and we kick that goal that we absolutely butchered we win. But hindsights a wonderful thing.

And if Heeney and Reid kick goals instead of posters …….you get the idea.

The momentum turned massively when Buddy flopped like he’d been shot.

He got into May because he hadn’t had a touch and May fell for it. Because he’s May

Yes May shouldn't have gotten sucked in but neither should have the umpire. Thought umpiring was a bit on the ordinary side tonight.

Anyone know what the crowd size was tonight. Sounded like there were more Sydney fans there as will.

78k.

We outnumbered them 10:1. They just had more to yell about.

Tonight we were horribly schooled by our betters. The Swans own us, as do Collingwood, and in fact Geelong. They are the 3 best teams in the 4. This idea that our ‘best’ is the best in the AFL is errant nonsense when it can’t be sustained to win games over 4 quarters. To their credit, the Swans exposed that brutally tonight.

It was a very Melbourne heavy crowd, but the crowd goes quiet when the team is playing badly and not kicking goals.

Thought the crowd was good tbh.

This.

The noise after the Sparrow goal was insane.

But the Melbourne crowd went silent in the fourth because the game was gone.

Huh? Sydney are a better team. Might want to reread it, champ. And maybe calm down. Your stream of consciousness is weighing down the servers.

Haha face palm away pal…..read your last 10 posts. Not accepting reality clearly!!!

we had a final won, and buddy faking a 50 actually turned the game. Nothing more, nothing less. Accept reality. Not a dynasty team. Just a team that won 1 flag, and didn’t have what it takes to accept a tiny bit of adversity and back in a plan to get things back on track.

Truth hurts peeps!

A shameful performance. So many moments that bordered on embarrassing. Couldn't be more disappointed with the effort, coaching and execution for a qualifying final.

Very hard to see how this team beats 3 more finalists.

Careful

Yep, spot on. Has hurt us all year, that the “premiership” team couldn’t create an environment that helps us win games. Just a run of the mill club rather than a Ess, Coll, Carl etc

That's exactly it. Poor skill is exposed under pressure.

I was screaming my head off. Felt like a real feral and probably upset the children in the general area. No one around me had much to say. Felt very lonely.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Geelong own us given that two of the last three times we’ve beaten them, once by 80 odd in a prelim

We will likely face Geelong in the prelim, I think we will beat Brisbane, their defence just isn’t good enough and can’t be compared to Sydney.

Geelong is the one team I’d most want to face in the prelim out of Coll and Sydney. Their pressure game just overwhelms us and we lose all composure. That’s not to say we will beat Geelong but I think it will be the best matchup we could ask for.

- Max is ruckman not a forward! We were smashed in clearance use our best ruck in the middle for 80% game time. [censored]

- Salem is not the same player. He had groin soreness for 2-3 weeks, he is not fit just play Bowey.

- Brayshaw’s kicking is horrendous at times, 11 turnovers! Back to halfback.

- Get Brown out and put Mcdonald in. He is a liability in anything but a mark on lead. Mcdonald can crash a pack, Brown is as weak as a baby giraffe. Melk Tmac are better together up forward.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
