Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that a long range weather forecast predicted showers on Friday.

Now that same site has, "light cloud and moderate winds", no showers.

@WalkingCivilWar

Weather is anyone's guess.

By Thursday it might say hot northerly gusts and 40 degrees. 😁

If there are showers, hopefully it’ll be similar to the showers we experienced last Friday night. Ie, before the match starts, very light and very brief.

The same website I have been watching, now indicates there will be showers, anyone's guess,.

My guess, it will be a slippery night for the players, and undercover seating will be best for viewing, if no ponchos are availed.

Last week I went to the function that Melbourne Experiences  were running, the cost was $550 per ticket, some of you may have got the email/invite to the function as well.  I thought this would be the way to go as I'd be sitting among the Demons Faithful, wrong, the seats are in the Ponsford Stand, behind the goals at the City end on Level one.

Anyway I had a Swans Supporter sitting behind me during the game and he never shut up for the whole of the game and I had several arguments with him, mainly about his running commentary of the game. The guy was a jerk and kept relaying everything that happened on the ground to all around him in a flat monotone annoying voice, needless to say it was a Melbourne Experience I didn't need.

There was also a Swans supporter sitting at our table and he was sitting next to my partner during the game, that's when he was sitting, he was mainly standing and shouting..

Yesterday and this morning I got an invite to the this week's function and after last week I think I'll give it a miss, I appreciate that the club has to fill these functions but when you are paying that sort of money you expect to be surrounded by your own not the opposition. I'd also had two tickets up the other end of the ground and sold them for less than a third of what I paid for them, I think I sold the wrong ones.

So basically you had to pay $550 just for a dinner (getting a basic average seat thrown in for good measure)? I hope it was a good meal at least! Sounds a rip off

Major bummer, sorry to hear. Knowing them they probably advertised it as 'seats to the game' and didn't say where they would be.

That Swans fan would have been annoying, what was ana example of some of his running commentary? I went with my usual mate and his dad but also one of his mates who is an Essendon fan. To his credit he just wanted to come and watch a good game but he had obviously jumped on Sydney to rib us and the other thing that was driving me nuts was that he'd made a same game multi and needed Viney for most disposals. So every two seconds if he wasn't cheering for Sydney he's be yelling "get it to Viney, give it back to him, give and get Jack!". We've all done it, I do it. It's the kind of thing you do when you don't have a dog in the fight but man I don't have time for ti sometimes!

I would have been happy with the seats if it wasn't for the fact I had this jerk behind me, you would have thought that whoever took him would have told him to behave himself and respect that it was an area for Demon members.

I'm a member of the legends and we pay a lot for the seats, there has been complaints that members are letting opposition supporters sit in that area. We got an email from the club two days before the last match, Carlton, that this wouldn't be tolerated and that it was for members only and the seats were not transferable. So what happens, some guy sitting in front of me brings in 3 Carlton supporters, when I suggested that they should move, he pretty much told me to p/o, I am thinking very seriously about contacting the club and they will revoke his membership.

I'm with you 100%.

The only reason for buying Redlegs memberships for the last 20+ years was to sit with Demon fans.  It real spoils the experience when an opp fan is carrying on or their kids are kicking the back of the seat because they are bored.

They should go up to level P where the club has an area for members who bring guests.

Unfortunately with digital barcode entry that can be forwarded it is not possible to police the 'non-transfer' of memberships which wasn't policed well in the past anyway.

It's fairly easy in the area where I sit, if they are not Dee's supporters they are asked to leave.

Originally there were only 100 Legends members, so it's not that hard, I don't think that has changed. The problem is the guests of the Presidents club lunch migrate towards the Legends area as they are better seats and not always used. I have 6 seats in the area and went by myself one game and the seats were all occupied and when I told them they were my seats they asked me if I could sit elsewhere.

I don't want to be a prat but that's not good enough, they should have to show their tickets before they are allowed to access that area, there is a guy at the top of each aisle anyway. You still get a membership card which shows you are a premium member and, in my case, a seat number.

you should certainly complain about this.  not only oppo supporters but loud morons is not acceptable.  if we let this go people will stop attending games or buying expensive memberships

The prelim, should we make it, will be on the Friday at 7:50pm again. I really wish it could be scheduled for an earlier time slot. I suppose we should just be happy to have made it.

Good news because it means less Geelong supporters from Geelong will attend, and should hopefully mean we have the majority of crowd support. That will be crucial, like 2018.

I agree, it is definitely not good enough especially when you pay what you do. Your seat is your seat and they should start fining people for abusing this.

Running commentary, so what. If only Melbourne supporters would chirp all match long.

Footy is about being in a conflictual environment, learning sportsmanship, having consensus and participating with others whose action may be opposite to yours.

Without our ability to cooperate within the competition then we wouldn't even have sport.

Tribal, though in it together.

As for people who you don't like, so what get over it. That's what being out in the market place entails. You also chose to engage which probably wasn't in a calming way, but an antagonistic way. Plenty of learning's there, which wouldn't be available if isolated.

So that person irritated you. Control is not possible, only influence. You are the only person you can control. There will be one in every crowd. You could develop skills to create an optimal environment in the market place. The loud mouth gave you the opportunity to do that. Arguments will only make it uncomfortable for both of you and others around you. Figure out a better way to engage and influence in order to get closer to what you want in the engagement.

No word on how our game is selling.

Based on current ticket sales vs last week.

Level 1,2 and 2A will all be full come game day which is about 45K.

Level 4 is not even close to what it was last week. Maybe 10K sold as of now. Ponsford full last week, will be shut this week most likely.

Reckon crowd maxes out at 58K

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
