Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

FINALS 2022: Week 01

The beauty about Geelong V Collingwood is at least we get to see one of DL's most despised clubs cop a loss in week 1 finals.

If we win on Friday week, I hope Collingwood also win so we avoid Collingwood in a prelim.

Would much rather Collingwood in a GF than a prelim where there's more neutrals and corporates.

Richmond will destroy Brisbane and I think Freo will do the same to the Dogs.
The other 2 games are 50/50

Yea I think most of us agree tigers will eat the lions.  Their loss against us really shook them up.

Swannies are good but at the Mcg and our current form we should put them away.

Plus, they could have finished 2nd but were lucky the saints didn't beat them.

Cats will account for Pies and freo as you say to finish the dogs.

Swans fwd line is dangerous with Heeney, Papley and Franklin. Although I'm not sure Franklin is highly motivated.

Lock down the other 2 and we will win.

At least we go in full of confidence where as the swans limped home against the saints and completely missed a chance to finish above us.

As for changes it's tough to decide bw Bowie and Salem.

Reading the above article it makes you feel as though Sydney didn't really have any intention in chasing a 50+ point win to get second and play us at the SCG. Longmire just wanted a win.

Sounds like Sydney are backing in their 10-2-1 record against us at the MCG since 2002 and then get their prelim at home.

Hopefully we have other ideas.

In a good space to have them. They sound cocky.

I don't.

The lions are a good team, who ran into a Demon juggernaut.

At home they will be too strong for the tigers.

For punters, the 2.18 for the lions to win is brilliant value.

The lions question is how fragile they have become in finals, lost so many.

I think the pies can get over the cats, the cats have had such an easy run and if the intensity is high enough may crack again.  I dont expect Cameron to play.  Though I reckon the Pie's are almost out of steam and still not make the GF. If they lose to the cats, I think they'll go out in straight sets.

Dockers should beat dogs easily, but its meant to rain, so who know how they will play.

I think our system is back in place, the swans only just beat us and earlier this year and we were not playing to our expected standard and had a few missing.   We are following the same preparation pattern as last year, it works.

Should be a good week of finals.

I reckon that could well have been a strategic move by Longmire.  I think previous comments made by some posters have also suggested that the SCG ground size would suit us better against them.

Having said that I think if we are on at the very start we should beat them this time round. It’s going to be a BIG game!

All the more reason why we need to fill the G and be very loud from the very start. We need to take advantage of every advantage we have.

No chance they gamed it to maximize their likelihood of playing at the g.

For one thing that would have dramatically increased their chances of losing and not making the top 4.

And, whatever way you cut it, a home final at the SCG could of only helped their cause, both for this game and their chances of winning a flag.

No need to travel. Dees would need to travel. Majority support. Much more familiar than us with the ground.

Instead, they have to fly in, play at the g, our spiritual home, which will be heaving and the crowd will be 75% dees - which will be a big factor.

Adams down back is a bigger loss I reckon.  they have looked lost down back after he went down a few weeks ago

I agree that Lions should beat Tiges. My concern is that ‘finals’ football to the Lions, rather than being about better contest and pressure, is just interpreted and manifested as aggression. Didn’t work last round, didn’t work QF last year. Altogether, I reckon it might be too late to make that shift.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Tigers get up. I'm putting the blow torch on Brisbane, if they falter again that would also be two Gabba losses in a row, unheard ofand would render them a joke.

A lot at stake.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
