Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's not negative. I'm just stating that there's a good chance we won't finish in the top four.  Are we going to bury our heads in the sand?

There's also a good chance we finish in the top 4. It's a 50/50 proposition really so don't know how you can be so definitive about it.

We're not beating Brisbane up there so as long as Collingwood beat Carlton which is likely or Fremantle beats GWS we will finish out of the top four.  If that happens we have to hope Sydney loses by more than us. Doesn't look good.

You did not state “there’s a good chance”… you made a definitive statement that does belong as a post in the veil of negativity topic. It was an attention seeking post.

Brisbane would have put a circle around this game the moment we smashed them earlier this year. We are their bogey team of late and you can be confident that they will bring their 'GF' game on Friday night. Not sure we can sustain another 'GF' performance from our opposition. Especially coming off a 6 day break and travel.

It is true they lack the defensive prowess and effort, but they are potent when the game is an offensive one. If you look at our last month of footy, we have been vulnerable to teams with that game style.

I am not as confident as most on DL that we will knock off the Lions. If we manage to do it and secure 2-3, then ill regain some confidence that we may have a chance in Sept.

Brisbane were not very impressive on Friday night. In fact, if Max King and Membrey kick those clutch goals, would probably have lost. The defensive side of their game is quite ordinary. I think we have won our last 11 interstate games. Just sayin.

Exactly the same as what was said before the round 23 game last year, how did that work out.

Pretty confident we’ll beat Brisbane again this week. We’ve had their number in recent years and they’re not in good form. They’re the weakest team in the top 6 on form. We also travel really well, so it would be a surprise if we lost to them this week.

Most likely outcome is we finish third and play the Swans at the SCG for week one of finals.

Yeah i take some comfort in that. However, 3 out of the last 4 games have had our opposition playing 'out-of-their-skin'. There is no reason not to expect it again on Friday night. Based on that logic, with our current form, im not sure we can hold off a Lions outfit at the Gabba.

Uhm, did you not read the title of this thread?!?!
This post belongs in a different thread. It’s manifestly upbeat and positive.

We're 6-0 on the road this year

brisbane are flat track bullies and fold under pressure

Dees to win

And i reckon Carlton will beat the pies

I feel like we would actually play the ground well too.

Brisbane are a good side and have plenty of weapons that can carve anyone up on their day but they do also run on momentum and if we bring the pressure that we know we are capable for bringing this will get stuck in their heads.

We need to make sure our midfield game is as good as it has been all year, win the clearances and win the territory battle. Make sure that we are limiting not only their entries but mainly the quality entries into their 50. Make sure Rich and Zorko are kept honest and play to our strengths. This is a game where we absolutely WILL need to take our chances in front of goal so we need to be putting the ball in the right place when hitting up targets. I’m pretty encouraged after Melksham’s performance on Sat as I like where he leads to and we know he can kick them, need to get it in his hands and make him our Jamie Elliott.

It's going to be a tough challenge of course, but it is crunch time now and I’m confident we are ready. A few Jack Viney tackles to hurt and physical contests early wouldn’t go astray either. They’re a good side but we should not fear them, we will be coming out with all guns blazing on Friday.

Finals pretty much start now for all top 10 teams except *checks notes* Geelong who has ended the season with a tough run against GC and WC...

All games between two from that group are genuine 50/50 regardless of position. That includes Saints vs Swans.

Cats Dees and Swans are clearly top 3. Freo Lions and imo Tigers round out top 6. Pies and Blues are the 7th and 8th best.

Saints and Dogs are fringe. Giants have something to prove.

I rate the Lions as a top 8 team but they are not top 4 caliber. Our DNA is top 4 football. Should be a good game.

If we don't think we can beat another top 4 team in the final round then we might as well forfeit the finals. A top 3 finish is fully within our control (noting we will likely play our first final at the SCG assuming Sydney beat St Kilda), with a solid win making top 2 a strong possibility.  We are playing decent footy, have an excellent away record, have the talent, game style and have a relatively fit list to kick off our finals campaign.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
