Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MFCSS rubs true

We are 2nd on the ladder with a round and a half to go for 2022. Yes our form isn't as strong leading into finals as last year. Yes our best footy is still the best in the competition, despite not showing often enough

I for one am sick to death of the negative nancies on here and the real world who are saying we can't win it. Of course we bloody can. We're in this up to our eyeballs.

Too many years of MFCSS unfortunately haven't been washed away despite last year's win - just because it's a close season doesn't mean we haven't got a shot at it fron here - can't win them all as an absolute dominant side - that's actually a rarity!

For all the negative Dee's supports here, take a moment and ponder this question... take all of your negative feelings about our game plan, our weaknesses, our team selection, and analyse it through the lens of our ladder position. If, and I mean IF, everything you feel is true and we're still second despite all that, what does that mean for what we can accomplish if we address all that concerns you?

I’ve said it before, I’m enjoying this season. Like many on here I’ve never seen our team defend a premiership. 15 wins, not too bad hey?  It feels like every team has played their ‘GF’ against us.
I know it sux to lose games, but you can’t be too despondent with the fact the boys in Red & Blue have been in almost every single game (21).
If we go back to back it will be something remarkable for all of us. Back them in!

I’ll be less negative when our players and coaches start putting out a product that isn’t so negative.

Jayden Hunt and Trent Rivers tonight took the game on late and created scoring chances.

If we get some run, carry and corridor football I’ll start believing. Until then, we’re making up the numbers.

Anything can happen in September, but using a ladder position built on 10 wins half a season ago to justify why we'll do well now is taking a whizz on the leg and saying it's raining.

I said last year that if we won a flag in my lifetime, I could live with us never winning another game. How wrong I was.

It purely creates higher expectations and a thirst for wanting more.

In saying that, I am remaining positive and as I said after last weeks I am backing us to still win the flag, provided we sort the forward line issues out.

This all comes from a life long eternal MFC  pessimist. I’m trying to shake the veil of negativity as best I can.

I highly rate this team. The emotion of it all takes hold when expectations aren't met. I'll be first to admit that my negativity sometimes gets the better of me. I thought in the heat of battle that we were "pathetic" tonight. In reflection and after watching the replay I realised we're not.

And that I am pathetic.

This is my life.

Appreciate the optimism Bob. We've got some issues that aren't easily fixed but we live to fight another day. If we punch our ticket to that top 4 then anything can happen.

I'm with you Praha, during the game I thought it was our worst performance for the year. It was not close to our best but we still did well in all the metrics you'd expect.

Just some higher standards I guess.

Our biggest problem is that too often we fall into the trap of comparing our current form to our near perfect 2021 finals campaign, especially the PF and GF performances.

Not saying we can’t get better nor that it will just happen, but we’re well positioned for another tilt and Iike others I think this team has gears they can go to in September.

Let’s get behind them 👍

It’s not about facts, it’s about attitude. Sure, there are things we need to fix but we can discuss them without the ridiculous doom and gloom that some people feel compelled to inflict on others, under the guise of knowing more than everyone else what it takes to be a premiership team.

This place can be really hard to be around with people constantly deriding and talking down the players and the team. We are supposed to be supporters, the key to the appropriate behaviour is in the name. I don’t have a huge number of Dees supporters in my life and I love being able to talk details with others who share my passion. I had hoped that demonland could be a place for that but have been finding it increasingly hard to log on and listen to the whining and mean spirited comments.

Maybe this rubbish was appropriate around the Neeld years but Jesus, we are 2nd on the ladder defending our premiership. What the actual F does it take to please people???

The fact is we have the second stingiest defence in the league by 9 points. Fremantle is number 1 in that area. We are also in the top few for Points For. As you would expect we have had a lot of very tight matches, because everyone wants to beat the Premiers. I think knockout footy will be where we shine!

Played worse than last week and we won!

But reading all the threads after the game I've established that Salem, BBB, May, Lever, Sparrow, Jordon  Spargo, ANB, Jackson, Hunt etc. should be dropped or are no good!

Weird that we can be so bad and beat a dog hungry Carlton!

IMO with two minutes to go our season was over and then we pulled it out of the fire. We went from 6th to 2nd in two minutes.

I haven't watched Goody's presser yet, but it should fascinating.

Yeah, I have lurked on DL for years, but the collective self flagellation after a loss (worse after a win at times) put me off from joining.

We can win this Cup (14), but so can 4-5 other Clubs

That last 2 minutes against Carlscum might have just “jolted” the boys into remembering what level of commitment was required

We are right in this

I think my kids have MFCSS and they are all under 10. They watched the first half last night and they asked me what happened this morning and I told them about how we were down with 15 secs to go, Jake's pass and Pickett's goal for the win and they were very complacent about the whole thing.

Over the past 30 years only four clubs have managed to go back to back. Adelaide once (1998), Brisbane twice (2002, 2003), Hawthorn twice (2014, 2015), and Richmond once (2020).

Geelong has never done it. Their three premierships in 2007, 2009 and 2011 were followed by Hawthorn, Collingwood and Sydney, respectively.

Maybe this will help people with their expectations of this year, but winning one is tough, but going back to back is a rare feat. You’re dealing with complacency, culture changes, list changes, figured out game plan, a harder draw,  worse draft picks and most importantly - and I can’t stress this enough - a professional league of other elite clubs where every other team is trying to achieve the same goal.

Keep positive. Enjoy the footy we’re playing. Enjoy that we’re still extremely competitive and will be playing finals. Stop comparing it to last year and most of all have some healthy respect to the competition we’re facing.

Go Dees.

MFCSS used to be warranted around here. These days I just see more and more new usernames popping up and being increasingly negative, and talking in ridiculous absolutes i.e. we can’t win this year (even after a win)

Unfortunately the quality of this communities members is slipping by the day. So many new members that are mostly unable to add anything of depth or interest, just repeated negativity in an almost troll like manner. Sucks really.

I love the season but our forward line structures is annoying the crap out of me.

Credit to Jake for his performance last night but if can find a more trusted solution then yes we can with this again. But if we can't it will feel like a season of missed opportunity.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
