Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did not rate the Blues, until tonight. What a spectacle AFL is.

They’re missing Kennedy, Hewett, Cerra (3/5ths of their starting mids) from their midfield and Williams and Newman down back too (with Docherty forced to play on ball). No idea how they’ve juiced the salary cap to keep importing players but it’s a strong list.

Add those 5 and take out Stocker, O’Brien, Marchbank, Setterfield, Motlop and it’s a strong best 22 that would’ve touched us up easily

Cripps did the same thing and didn't get pinged.

Yes diffferent rules for different teams/ players.

Same in a game last week.  And pretty sure the player even kicked from outside the line and was still allowed to just play on.

Whoah, Sigur Ros as you first concert! I saw them at festival hall in about 2006, incredible.

The win was ok too, haha

I was at that concert too! And I saw them in 2005, 2007 and 2008. AND I attended the world premiere of their movie, Heima (here in Melbourne coz that’s how awesome they are) followed by a Q and A during which I got to ask a question!!!!

I was supposed to go tonight but, ya know, the Dees. Even if we’d lost tonight I don’t regret blowing off the concert. But that’s moot now since WE BLOODY WON!!!!

❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

To beat Carlton by less than a kick with 10 seconds to go it doesn't get better than that.

Confession time. 3 minutes to go I got up and said "we're done, we can't do it from here. We've lost all our close ones this year". Well, bugger me.

That was as close to a final as you will get. Not a great spectacle, but as tough as hell. Both sides will be very sore over the next 2 days.

Delighted, shocked, annoyed, Exhiirated.

That's what I told the wife. I had no faith.

I'll just leave this here.

I just got home and so did my 17yo son from his first ever concert (Sigur Rós… not too shabby for your first concert) and right now we’re both full of adrenaline and talking over the top of each, LOUDLY. There’s enough energy in this room to power an entire suburb for a week! 🤣

Would like to be a fly on the wall in that room!

Didn’t kick straight and had a shocker with that play on out of bounds, but otherwise there was a very solid amount of contesting with some good clunk work too.

He’s playing up high to generate space for Melk and Fritsch too.

That was the interesting consequence of how Brown is being used.  Gone are the days where a key forward (one out like Brown was tonight) is expected to present, take 6 or 8 marks and then have as many shots at goal

Crowded forward lines, triple-teamed and even if those circumstances are overcome, a mark and shot at goal might be taken from an acute angle

So we play 2 mediums to complement and one shines through.  As a percentage play, it can work but equally, the mood here would have been quite gloomy if that crumb to Kossie had bounced a metre to the left or right and we don't get the winning goal

Such a fine line sometimes and we live to fight another day from 2nd place on the ladder (could have been 6th if we'd lost)

But along the way you need a bit of good luck sometimes.  Without that good luck, bad luck can step in

Right now, the Blues would be rueing their bad luck.  So close, but no cigar

We can happily puff away (along with sipping on a decent cognac)

Winners are grinners!

Nah, it was short lived. One of us hit a wall about 10 minutes ago and has gone to bed. 🙄

They don’t make 17-year-olds like they used to! 😁

One of the positives for me was the way some of our key players reacted when Carlton got on a run mid way through Q3.  It was clear to me that the team and especially some key players have another gear they can go to and it gave me confidence that we’ll see more of that gear in the finals.

Except for that period, I thought Trac had an ordinary game. Obviously we judge him highly, but he seemed to be caught watching the contest and out positioned a few times.

I don’t dispute there are cracks. Certainly to what we were last year…

I just think we are a battler, a battler in the top 4 with a team that struggles to execute in the final third of the ground.

I don’t think it’s going to be fixed in 2 weeks, whether we finish 2nd or 6th (what a final round!).

We are survived by Hunt and Melksham at either end.

!

I am resetting expectations and hoping we can battle our way to a prelim where dreams are made and nightmares are forged…

We can still win the thing but it will require changes because the current formula isn’t good enough.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
