Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought a lot of our i50 kicks to Brown were not to his advantage

You mean kicking it on top of a forward’s head who is triple teamed is not kicking to advantage? Well I’ll be damned.

That wasn’t luck CBF. It was superb judgment and nerves of steel against 3 opposing spoilers. One of the best contested marks you’ll see.

I am embarrassed and ashamed to say I walked out not knowing there were still 3 minutes to go but stopped to watch it on one of the TVs in the MCC entrance. It was amazing atmosphere with supporters yelling, groaning and yelling again. When Kozzie kicked the goal everyone was hugging and cheering and then rushing back to watch the game. When the siren went the orange MCC lady hugged me and we kind of looked at each other weirdly then laughed. The atmosphere in the MCC members was like it was when we beat Hawthorn and Geelong. What made me very happy was how delirious the players were when they were walking up the race. We might have fallen into the win but it showed guts and determination not to give up and the result will I am sure provide the impetus to work that little bit harder against Brisbane next week.

It's definitely a win by Brown. I'm not blaming Brown. My criticism is of our one dimensional game plan even when the game is slipping away. It was a bad option. Brown was against 3 Carlton players and we were fortunate that the ball hit a Carlton player in the head.

Our final goal was a result of Lever kicking the ball at right angles into the corridor. Post game, Trac said it was a shocking kick by Lever that came off, but I think Lever had the smarts to realise that Carlton would have been set up down the line.

You look at that kick and his kick v Geelong last year. Very smart footballer

We came back from 40 points down in Geelong. Completely different. We had no right to win it and we did.
This year we have lost 6 games while 4 goals or more up. That is the difference. We lost our energy and killer instinct. We are just going.

Positive that we found a way to win.

Also positive for our long term objective to become a consistently competitive football club that we have been in a position to win all 21 games so far.

Just not convinced that we are as good as many on here think we are. I've been thinking/hoping we've been keeping something hidden and had a switch we might flick at the pointy end...but our defence has dropped way off (uncannily kept teams to 16 to 18 scoring shots every week last year, this year it's regularly 24 to 25), and we don't seem to have a method of getting the ball forward when plan A isn't working. I honestly see us in big trouble in week 1 of the finals if we drop next week...I reckon the Tigers are a better team than us and Dogs and us are line ball right now.

Well, weird one wasn't it? I reserve the right to make a slight revision on my during the game thoughts. I said during the game I thought we were really really poor. I now think we were just poor.

But bugger all that, the effect a win like that has on team morale can't be bought. Do we have problems? Yes we do, are they easily fixable? No they are not. Bit honestly I couldn't give a rip about that right now. When I eventually leave this earth one of my all time favourite feelings will be a close game at the G that could go either way, then the siren going and hearing that Melbourne song, there's ni feeling like that in the world!

To the football! When you look at the metrics we matched most of the good ones. Contested ball, clearances. There were times when it seemed like the Blues wanted it s bit more in the middle but we were very much up for the fight in there. First half we looked a bit slow and off but I do think our intensity raised in the second half even if we weren't able to execute the way we like. I'm not going to complain too much about inaccuracy, we're mostly adults here and we know bad kicking is bad football. I just want a 5% improvement in that area, 10% would give me a rush, don't give me 15% oh geez, I might be watching that game in the hospital. The concern about our forward structure is a much more pressing concern than the shots we are missing. The lever needs to be pulled (pun), 1 tall forward aint getting it done. Melksham did a great job despite a few sitters missed, he did actually give us something to kick to. We have some concerns regarding even our small forwards, we just need more out of them and a don't know how we get them more looks at goal but really need to. I thought Carlton's pressure was immense tonight and they never let us get clear chances, well except at the end..

I had Gus BOG, can understand the people giving Melksham full votes I absolutely can, i flip flopped on it a lot but Gus is helping us so much at the moment I'm keeping things fresh in the middle. Clarry came alive in the second half, thought Viney's game was important. Down back I thought Petty was the pick of the defenders, May got better but had his hands full early on and made a few errors, Lever had a forget game.

Might cop it a bit for this but I think the umpiring although questionable at some crucial points was actually pretty good, they let the game flow. Hardest sport to umpire around and they were good for the majority of it I thought.

I just want to do something I don't usually do in a postage thread. I want to give some praise to an opposition player. Sam Docherty, you are an absolute champion my friend. Thought he was their best player tonight in my book and he's been doing it all season. Multiple knee recos, cancer scares, this shouldn't be possible should it? Carlton fans are lucky to have this guy.

Enjoy it tonight and tomorrow people, we'll deal with whatever comes. For now we live to fight another day, Go Dees!

But that doesn’t change the fact that things went our way last year too. Close doesn’t punch the ball over the boundary and we’d be week one in Port Adelaide and who knows. You need some luck. It’s easy to look back now and think it was preordained, but it wasn’t.

Also it’s tough to argue we’ve lost our killer instinct after watching that last 2 minutes. We had no right to win that game, but we did - because we didn’t give up.

Not a chance based on tonight that we beat lions, we have learned nothing from last week

I actually think that statement is wrong. It was from last weeks close loss that we learnt how to win tonight!
And I think tonight’s game will kick start our season. My once dwindling premiership hopes have just started to soar.

Just watching the last 5 minutes and what I loved is when it came to the stoppages the umps just threw the ball up and didn't bother to nominate the ruckmen. Just got on with it.

also I didn't realise it was melksham that got the ball to Kozzie. I hope Melksham brings that form from now on.

I did that with 14 minutes to go and turned it back on with 30 seconds to go.

Turned it off 4 minutes to go to watch a great German serial on SBS. Couldn’t believe the result 60 minutes later. Can’t wait for a closer examination when it is posted.

Hope now this shows us building into finals form at right time of year. No where near 2021 form but at least we have a chance from here. Next week will be a good indicator. Top 2 is still within reach….

if we don’t give the flag a shake this year at least we gave this dagger to these flogs.

hunt was absolutely clutch at the end there

Only saw the second half... at son's grad.

Hunt was clutch for all of it.  He was great.  He changes the whole dynamic down back and through the middle on the press.

Character building win but FCS get Harmes in there.  Didn't see the first half so can't say for whom but Sparrow was pretty quite in that part.

Our coaches will see that as a win unfortunately. The only reason we won this game in the end was because Hunt chose to take the game on with his run. Oh, and no-one has mentioned how Melksham managed to take that mark amongst 3 Carlton players. If that was against the Pies, it wouldn't have happened, and we lose.

Mate enjoy the win for gods sake!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
