Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Some serious underselling of Hunter going on in this thread

Kudos to the author

Stengle says HI to all you doubters. He was much younger and more consistent with bad behaviours than Lachie.

We must get some pace in though in the mids and on some flanks. Please !!

Kossie will take some sprinting classes each morning over the Pre Season!

Hunter is a very smart hard running link player.

Yes, he's not quick.  But he's adequate.

Yes, he doesn't kick it far, but he's accurate and plays within his limitations.

Some seem to focus more on a player's weaknesses while completely disregarding their strengths.

Hunter is a quality wingman.  It will be harder for the opposition to shut down one wing if Hunter is on the other.  Langdon would love another specialist wingman in the side who knows what they're doing.

It's a smart move by the club to at least explore the opportunity.

Hunter has a rather big kick actually, and a left footer too.  not someone id chase real hard but i wouldn't be against him pulling on a Red and Blue top

What’s the price? And how’s he travelling; a fresh start is needed but also, sometimes footy isn’t everything…

Dogs seem to be encouraging him to explore his options. Pick in the 30's perhaps.

its the more $600k a year with 2 years still to run that i don't think we can afford on a player like him

I'd suspect if the Dogs are pushing him out, they'd be open to paying a small portion

I would also assume the only way this move happens, is if we lose Harmes (and his 500k (?) a year contract) which balances things out quite nicely

i highly doubt that, id say the reason they are allowing him to look elsewhere would only be in a club takes his salary. 600k a year id be chucking at better players than him.  Or lure a Finn Callaghan type

No idea what Harmes is on, he resigned in 2019 so it wouldn't be massive,  probs that $450-500 area

And his wage?

He’s a good player with a neat kick and a desire to engage in chains up the ground.

Would love to know whether his mindset is of someone who is better off outside footy.

Hunter has had some well documented recent issues, but his body of work is impressive.  He's a fantastic two-way runner.

A new environment can often work wonders.

Let's not forget, he's a premiership player AND he won a Best & Fairest at the Dogs.  Nothing to sneeze at.

Might be a swap with Tomlinson.

Saints then take Cordy.

Dees pick up Lienert.

Under that situation I can tolerate Hunter

yup this i can deal with.

i also rate Lienert,  he would be behind Turner but a good cheap depth player

I rate him.  2018 Sutton Medal, 2016 Premiership player.  Turns 28 in December, played 173 games and a lot of those have been excellent, including a couple of games over 40 disposals.  Seems to play well against us.  As has been pointed out by others he's strong defensively and offensively.  He'd be an asset.

Isn't he getting pushed out because the dogs (Bont) don't think he's sole focus is a premiership?

Don't get me wrong, before 2021 I would've loved to have him but I don't see the point in getting him when we could be getting games into Howes as an example.

Super talented player who may just relish being given an outside running role with lots of inside bulls.

Wanted Amon but i think this could be pretty good left field option.

He walks into our wing position over any of our current players.  He is better on the offensive side of the ground so would make a perfect complement to Langdon who is more defensive winger.

Has really nice left foot and regularly nails his passes....We are looking for connection....having Salem/Bowey/Hunter in the team would sure help in that space.

I reckon the hierarchy have identified the need for a specialist winger, this would make sense if we were in for Karl Amon from Port.

A change of scenery might be good for him, different culture always helps, his footballing ability speaks for its self another weapon on the outside is what we need.

Always thought he was a quality player, i believe our senior group can lead him in the right direction.

Go and get him Dees, players want to play for us at the right price, we are a destination Club.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
