Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Goodwin saying the club are hoping for 85-90K is wishful thinking.

Suspect it will be between 67-72K.

Having said that, weather permitting, the Pies could bring 40K to this and that will make it go close to 80.

Very much hoping there 40K+ of us there.

Weather should be no excuse, Id happily be sitting shirtless in a hail storm to watch this one. Hopefully our fickle fanbase come out in droves to support this team. Might not watch as good a Melbourne side ever again.

I don’t think this is wishful thinking.

Their supporters are keen on account of their winning streak so they’ll turn up in the many thousands.

And our supporters are arguably the most buoyed we’ve been all season. So we’ll also have big numbers turning up.

I reckon 90,000 is not at all beyond the realm of possibility.

I wouldnt mind greatly if its a 60-40 crowd split Collingwoods way. As our home game that would be great for the coffers.

We have learned to win without superior supporter numbers and i think we can beat the Pies on Friday regardless. Should be a cracker of a match with a huge crowd.

Seriously doubt we would get the figures people are talking about.

If we get 70k it would be impressive.

I will be there!

I'm with you Jaded - I reckon the ****ty weather will mean a top of 75k at most.

...... and yes, I'll be trekking in from The Manor.

PS I hope they are able to staff all the taps in the Betty Cuthbert bar!

There is no chance it will come close to 90.

Crap weather, Covid back it will max out at 75.

I'd love it to be like Anzac Eve in 2017 when it was a shock to get 85.5K.

We just don't have that many supporters. Ticket sales indicated 70K.

Friday nights have also drawn really poorly this year.

We have 65k members, that should be enough to get us to around 50k. The rest is up to Pies coming on the day, which they will. I expect no less than 75k, but hope for 80k+.

When was the last time we played in front of 80k+? Probably 2018 finals.

Crap weather. LOL.
Not directing this at you FTB, but if crap weather is what’s stopping ppl attending, that’s disappointing.  It’s a winter sport ffs.

There is a difference between a clear winters day and a wet winters night.

On another tangent seeing as you're my link to the cheer squad.
As a kid when I was in it we'd chant Mel-Bourne, Mel-Bourne etc, etc.
We don't any more.

And that difference is a poncho. Besides, the heavens aren’t gonna open up and rain cats n dogs. BOM is predicting a light drizzle, if anything.
That’s in reference to the rain issue.

As for the day/night issue, aren’t we rapt to be getting a blockbuster Friday night match? Isn’t this what we’ve been denied for the longest time?

Only locked in my seat in the MCC today, most seats being offered with near the back on Level 4.

Will just stand in a terrace on Level 1 as per usual though.

I'm just glad I'll be hermetically sealed on level 2 of the Northern Stand in a Tridents only area so no chance of coming into contact with the puddle drinkers in black & white. QB was a nightmare.

Mate I will end up having gone to 19/22 games this year.
Weather is an excuse I have never used and never will use.

But most people do and it turns people away from all games. Collingwood Richmond got 64k because it was on a cold windy Saturday.

I hope that this ends up as the biggest home and away crowd of the year but I’m a realist and we get decent crowds but don’t draw giant crowds at our home games.

When you say ticket sales indicated 70k, what do you mean?

Just going bases on where ticket sales are at. Level 4 up to row O in the Olympic stand and a few bays up to row K in the southern stand.

for QB, Olympic stand was completely sold out and southern stand only had 6 bays of GA.

On Friday, MCC on track to just about sell out all reserved seating and AFL reserve about 75% sold out

76K on QB so would take an enormous amount of GA supporters to get it to that number for this one.

Ok that sounds pretty comprehensive. There are three days to go though- is that factored into your calculations?

Do you mean the slow chant? We sometimes do that one.
The best was in Adelaide when we did that chant and it spontaneously morphed into ‘Leee-ver’ because we were all so over the Crows supporters booing him. We actually drowned them out! And pi*ssed off many of them in the process. 😁

Preach! This weather nonsense is the biggest cop out. Forecast isn’t even that bad - should be clear by bounce.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
