Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jack Viney - he’s the man that sets the standard - outstanding

Great team effort well done Dees

No Luke Jackson singing the song after the game - wtf is that about

He went off for concussion testing with 4 minutes to go. Somewhere in the rooms getting assessed

What are you talking about?

Brayshaw was great tonight ... on his left a lot as that's where the space was

Opposition players are drawn to his right side kicking and are then caught out

Time and time again

And then Brayshaw kicked deep to advantage or safety.  He was a driving force all night

How about giving credit where credit is due

Yep I know their bad but I loath the Bulldogs more.

Bulldogs aren’t a threat to us. Geelong are. Try to put your intense hate for the Bulldogs aside just for one night. I did it late last year when an Essendon win (against I can’t remember who) was beneficial to us. I barracked for Essendon. ESSENDON! At one stage I heard myself saying ‘come on Jake’ (Stringer. STRINGER!). Now, if I can do that, you can too. I have faith in you, Ang. You got this!!

Great win against a side that really cannot handle wet weather, and a game style they don’t seem to be able to adjust. The wet suited our contested style and relentless pressure - with more fumbles and more dropped marks they were just given zero opportunity to play how they wanted.

Backs were impressive.  Setup and talk behind the ball was back where it needs to be and stay.  Petty might not get the touches, but the spoils and blanketing of players is crucial.  Rivers had some important defensive clearances early, and hopefully Lever recovers fine.

Viney probably having a career best season, absolute beast.  With Clarry tagged, Petracca and Brayshaw covered well.  Saw some criticism for Sparrow but thought that was a far better effort, better disposal and involvement.

The negatives for mine were obviously Weideman just having no involvement.  Some said in the game day he was competing in the conditions but I rarely saw that.  ANB had a rough game, didn’t play to conditions and even before injury I genuinely thought Jackson was disinterested.  Weak in the contest, little follow up - almost had an individual moment of brilliance before the main break  but otherwise disappointing.

Reckon on that kind of form and pressure we’re perfectly ready for the Pies!  Go Dees.

Perfect summation.

We need to remember that Freo have been horrible in the wet this year. This game goes to show that winning contested ball is the key to whether we win or lose. It's not talent.

Shout out to Melksham. His place in the team is assured.

Gus is much craftier than our other mids.  He's also a solid D as we've seen all year but doesn't offer the line breaking run of Hibberd (to a lessor extent but it's still there), Hunt or, at times, Rivers.

Quick reaction time and smarts in terms of decision making (handball vs quick kick vs roll and gun vs the old one/two).  Certainly has more tricks in his bag.

Speaking of Hibberd i thought he was super tonight.

I reckon Hibberd should get another run around next year.

Gus in the midfield let's Salem do his job too (as the half back link up). If we absolutely have to wouldn't mind him going back to a defensive wing position.

We have the cattle it's just putting them in the right paddock.

Pretty poor coverage with replays often taking precedence over live action, overlaid by commentary box prattle.

Who was it that said Hibbo might have a hamstring problem when he sprinted from the ground? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Backline was so much better balanced with Hunt providing some defensive cover and speed across half back.

Gus helped the midfield get more uncontested possessions and cover on the defensive side. But the wet weather made his indiscriminate hacking of the ball forward look good. And Brodie and Mundy had about 3000 disposals each, but didn’t have the space or skills to do much with them.

Fritsch was excellent. Weid and Melk not exactly a pack crashing force, but they did enough to panic Pearce, Cox and Young out of intercepts. Apart from that stretch in the 3rd where Mundy put himself in our bomb out spot and the talls couldn’t come across and impact.

I still don’t think we go anywhere without an uncontested kicking game to keep teams honest and some miracle recoveries or performances from tall forwards. But when we can win in the air the ground game still has a lot going for it

Let it go.

Congratulations, not that it counts for anything but this is the first facepalm I’ve given out on DL.

Did Gus cut you off in traffic or something? The bashing is ridiculous .

They enjoyed that win as did I.

Probably had some truths put to them, though the week.

We are starting games so well. Sets us up to be front runners, and playing the game on our own terms.

To catch us, the opposition have to play well and take risks.

Winning can be contagious, onwards Dees.

Guaranteed to play finals now. It’s significant because it’s the first time we’ve played consecutive finals series since 05-06!

I honestly think out of the 4 games this was our biggest challenge. Freo are a great defensive side and had to play them at home.

Pies next Friday night is going to be huge. Let’s pay them back!

Well alright I will have a go but I dare say as soon as I see the Dogs slime ball coach or the first throw by the dogs that isn’t paid a free kick I will be off them. So I might last five minutes.

Is it realistic for him to have his first 'scratch match' after missing most of the season then play at finals pace?  Sureit would be great but a huge risk.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
