Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Poor Chandler..

Dead set best in form player at Casey who are 15-0, and yet still can't get a crack against blokes who've have been dead set ordinary for 6 weeks.

100%. Watched him last week, he is in hot form. Bold call by Goody - obviously hope it works out.

Harmesy copped a knock early in the second. Not himself the rest of the game, no one had any idea why including the coaches. Apparently felt terrible the next day and then failed the concussion test. He's pretty flat about it by all reports, hope he's right and firing for finals - underrated team player.

So Harmes injured, JJ injured, BBB, Lever and Tom out, umpires as usual with Dogs and we had 2 days less between games and get run over in last few minutes.

That’s a pretty good effort by us.

I would have dropped Melksham and put Chandler in.

Melksham will be needed to nullify Young (they’re roughly the same height). That kid is a jet. We really need Melksham to reprise his half forward defence roll he did on McGovern back in 2018 rnd 22.

Interesting selections that will give us a lot of flexibility during the game and will make it hard for Freo to detail their plans against us.

The defensive team look good and well manned. May, Lever and Petty the backbone to build around. Salem, Hibberd, Brayshaw, Rivers and Hunt can al rotate through there as required. Brayshaw also offers cover on the wing or even in the middle. His time in there would be vey limited to my mind as he has not played there in a fair while. Hunt could cover on a wing or even forward. Not even I was convinced writing that and then reading it back.

Midfield/Ruck has options as well. The Four Horsemen, Gawn, Viney, Petracca and Oliver is enough to scare a lot of teams but their record of clearances, or lack thereof, makes us vulnerable. As my teachers wrote often of me, “Must do better.”

Langdon on his wing of choice with Jordon, Brayshaw and possibly Hunt sharing the other. Sparrow to spend time in the middle with Petracca resting forward a bit. Others to have bit parts in the middle I see as ANB, Pickett ( loved it when he was at the first bounce each quarter a while back), Melksham and I would not be surprised to se an appearance by Rivers in there depending on the state of the game.

In the forward 50 we have the Line being held by Fritsch and Wiedeman and a resting ruck (?) Wandering around at their feet and trying to lay an effective tackle in the forward 50 will be Spargo, Pickett, ANB and Melksham……. Whoever it is down there needs to be told that the player with the lowest number of F50 tackles for the match will be making way for Chandler. That’s fair, I think.

Medi sub… I do not see JVR making his debut a medi sub so it is between Chandler and Dunstan. Personally, I would lean towards Chandler, watched a bit of the Casey games and he ha been kicking goals and playing a bit in the middle.

Dees to hit their straps and [censored] the purple haze.

Genuinely annoyed that Lobb has been named.

I really thought he wasn’t going to get up which would really help us.

Fremantle have struggled in the wet this year, losing to Gold Coast and Collingwood in rounds nine and 10.

Cant imagine he will hurt us too much if its sopping wet

From Perth Now:

Optus Stadium contractors are replacing more turf ahead of Friday night’s blockbuster between Fremantle and Melbourne, as ground staff brace for an untimely downpour as the troubled surface goes under the spotlight of national free-to-air TV.

Friday’s forecast is for 10-15mm of rain and the chance of a thunderstorm, providing a test for not only the surface but Fremantle’s wet weather footy credentials in the wake of upset losses to Gold Coast and Collingwood earlier this season.

As an aside, this is Fremantle's first home game against us since 2015.

Which is utterly ridiculous.

I wonder whether there is any other match up in the competition where a side hasn't had a home game against another side in 7 years.

As above we went for nigh on a decade without a home game v Druggies.  And Carlton Hawthorn Collingwood Richmond are never sent down to that marginal seat subsidy ground with the absurd boundaries and little visitor access whereas we go every bloody year.
Yet some still hold that the AFL ain’t a corrupt clique.

We have only had 3 home games against Essendon out of the last 19

Collingwood hasn't played at Geelong since 1999

Essendon hasn't played at Geelong once since 1993

Good memory re: Essendon. We didn't have a home game against them for 9 years (2010-2019).

Brisbane also didn't have a home game against Hawthorn for 8 years (2008-2016).

Meanwhile we've been to Geelong 17 times in the last 21 seasons...

Replacing turf and then rain before the turf has set in, doesnt sound good

No injuries please!!!

Having to replace turf the day before a game is unacceptable. This is a multi billion dollar business. It's simply not good enough.

Second consecutive six day break, no TMac, no Brown, no Harmes, Jordon questionable fitness, Lever questionable fitness, Oliver still recovering from a broken thumb, flying across the country to play on a slop of a turf against an opponent Fyfe and Switkowski short of full strength with an extra day's break.

Get around us. Season-defining win coming up tomorrow night.

This has got disaster written all over it. Turf wouldn't settle in a couple of days in the middle of summer, ACL Russian roulette.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
