Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Stupid question but how can it possibly be called VFL. Half the teams are in NSW and QLD. Surely something like ECFL (East Coast Football League) would make sense.

Anyway really tough solid win in difficult conditions today, Bowser stood out and Chandler with 4 goals I’m not sure what else he has to do to get a gig in the seniors. Has to play sub next week surely, tough to dislodge Spargoat or Nibbler but he’s doing his part.

How'd Howes go?

Not prolific but did some good things in the first half.  Tackles and hunts well.  Has a bit of range and toe about him.  Seems to have a bit of class & good awareness

Totally agree. He's a great Fantasy footballer because he seagulls for cheap kicks. Hate having the ball in his hands, because he invariably makes a poor decision. He burnt JVR in the 2nd quarter by going long to the goal square with JVR on his own in the pocket. Signalled for a slow play in the last qtr, and kicked it to a Dogs player with no Casey player in sight. He's a good VFL player, and that's his level.

Interesting that they played Baker off half-back, difficult to know if he was accountable for his opponent.

Hunt was not seen in that last quarter. Perhaps off to Marvel!

Bowey full of class.

Chandler got shut down in the second half, though showed up for the last goal. Very nice finishes.

Now for the big show.

This game should have been the curtain raiser?

So what don't you like about the development component? It seems that players who come up to replace injured/dropped Melbourne players step right into the Melbourne game plan. Isn't that what's required? Melbourne have a deliberate polocy of not rotating players in and out of the senior side so the fact that there haven't been players coming through means absolutely nothing.

Yes, it's horrible that we are 2nd with a 13-4 record and a percentage of 132.6%. Clearly both Melbourne & Casey are a long way off this year.

Yes, the fact that he had only 33 possessions & 8 marks today means his positioning was terrible. It's really easy to take 8 marks when you're where the ball isn't. Casey's last line defence was terrific today and no doubt Baker was playing the role he was asked to. I agree with you about his disposal effeciency but the rest is BS. Did you watch today's game?

Yes, almost exactly half. 2 NSW teams, 3 Queensland teams, 16 Victorian.

BS. I'm happy to concede Baker's disposal isn't always great. And well done to highlight 2 disposal errors out of his total of 33. What did you think of the other 31 and his 8 marks? I hate it when posters make stuff up about seagulling for cheap kicks (what's that in English?). He was an important player today and his pace off the mark is crucial in providing defensive cover.

Did you watch the game? How many junk marks did Baker take in the last qtr? He calls for 15m sideways passes from teammates. That's seagulling. But that's not how we play at AFL level. Why do you think that he's never considered for promotion even when we have players out? He's rarely named as an emergency.

To anyone who has watched JVR closely, is he ready to be promoted to the seniors or does he still need to further develop before marking the senior’s?

Haven't seen him play at all hence the question.

Today wasn't one of his better days, but the conditions didn't suit key forwards. We also bomb the ball in, which is our game plan, so key forwards have to earn their kicks. He didn't play as much 2nd ruck today, which I was happy about.

Personally, I think he's ready now because he loves the contest.

Agree it wasn't a JVR type day today.

His positioning to mark for his one goal was very good.

Darcy for the Bulldogs was probably more impressive so it wasn't impossible for big men.

Next year is his time

Very early days for Woewodin but he is showing glimpses. His 2023 VFL season will be important.

I would come regularly to Demonland to read your posts. Had a good laugh & enjoyed your very well articulated responses to the negative hysteria we inevitably get whee we n a game is close or we lose . Posters should note that’s is  possible to get your point across without demeaning & vitriolic replies. Well done !!

That was a great win by the Casey boys today, there were a few doggies who played in the Granny running around today and they dominated the hit outs by a fair margin, yet we still ended up with a great win. We must be doing a lot right.!!!!!

Haven't seen him play at all hence the question.

I went to today's game snd stood behind the goals at the city end, which was the scoring end.

Short answer is yes, if wasn't expected to be a key forward and hecame in for a handful of games.

But he is a bit undersized for a key position role atm I reckon.

That said he is just a fantastic competitor.

One of Chandler's goals came after jvr willed himself to the marking contest, having tracked the ball from the wing.

He was stuffed, couldn't get to the tbe contest to matk, and had to push super hard just to get  a spoil, a smart two fist front and centre.

And his contested mark and goal was just fantastic.

I love his desperation and he us the sort of player who just want to be involved in everything.

Demands the ball too, which I love.

Watching him live, he really reminded me of Schwartz pre knee.

Similar size and want for the contest.

Similar kicking style too - nice and simple and good technique.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
