Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yze to coach GWS?

If they were running a conventional shortlisting process you'd bank him in for the last 3 suitors no doubt. It would be ideal to get Adem for at least one more year but it seems inevitable that he will be a senior coach at some stage.

Would hate to lose Yze and Chocco in the same year though..

Yes to lose Yze would be a huge loss.
Wish him good luck … but hoping he doesn’t get it !! 🤔

If we’re a strong organisation, we take pride in developing elite leaders, watch him go with a smile on our face, and back ourselves to find/develop the next one.

If we’re weak, we crack the sads, hope he doesn’t get the job, and establish a culture of stunting the growth of our staff.

How does this marry up for those having a chirp at Luke Jackson?

Any commentary around the following?

"his game day performance will drop"

"no real incentive, just going through the motions now with this club"

"he didn't smile, he can't be invested in the players"

Here’s my 2 cents. Adem isn’t in the top seat. He’s essentially playing in the seconds waiting for a shot at the big guys. I don’t think anyone can realistically expect he’d not want to advance his career and test himself at the top level - and he’s not going to get that opportunity with us.

In regards to the Jackson situation it’s more akin to Goodwin giving up the senior gig with Melbourne to go coach in Adelaide - because that’s where he came from.

Adem has been great for us and it helped he was a Dees legend to start with

But people moving on provides an opportunity for renewal and fresh ideas. That’s never a bad thing. Same with players. Disappointing to lose the likes of Dogga but it gives us a chance to bring in new talent.

Pert has put together a fantastic coaching team. He’ll find a first rate replacement for Adem I’m sure

I credit Yze for a small but vital part in the overall Premiership last year.

With Goody on the boundary and knowing Yze is up in the box I suspect they were a powerful combination (including others also in coaching, but Yze in particular given his Clarkson background). Filled me with confidence all 2021.

Going elsewhere only will strengthen him for an eventual return to the Dees as head coach.

But I couldn't be more pleased for a favourite son if he gets a senior gig anywhere.  He can't do anymore CV - wise to prepare himself for the role.

Would love for that to happen, but we are at the wrong end of the ladder. Unless we pull a Malthouse/Buckley or Clarkson/Mitchell move, which would be incredibly destabilising, cannot see it happening. Goodwin has another 4-5 years before he reaches the 10 year milestone, which would be the logical point of a coach change. Yze will not wait around that long unfortunately.

I hope he hangs around at Melbourne and takes over from Goodwin. North are shot and GWS have no heritage.

Don't think this would get in the way of someone's career aspirations to be a senior coach ...

Fully agree, and for Yze to head off could only help him return at a later stage much more rounded for a senior role.

I worry about losing his strategic nous right now though.

Our midfield is hardly humming. Reckon he should concentrate on the job at hand (not saying he isn’t) and turn some hit outs into clearances with the ruck group

North need an experienced coach. Gws have zero culture or heritage so why even consider them

can see Yze at Port or the dogs next year

Why GWS?

It's available. Also, there will be enormous career benefit to whoever coaches GWS (or Gold Coast or Freo) to their first ever Premiership.

With respect, it’s nothing to do with MFCSS nor any implication we’re a basket case. Just a hard reality to bear if it plays out.

Stupid comment.

A - Goodwin has won a premiership and is currently coaching the equal top team.

B - How do you know Yze has got what it takes to coach a senior team ? Have you actually seen examples of his coaching capabilities?

true but I personally can't see it happening. They have lost so many key players and will continue to do so (Hooper and others already looking to leave). Ward and Davis will retire so there is a huge leadership gap and they cannot attract any quality players via trade.  Culture is poor and they look to have no fight left

If I was Adem, I would wait until later in the season/off season and go for a job which a much higher chance of success.  Head Coach jobs are brutal, if you fail at your first one, you are unlikely to get another chance, unless you have a name like Voss. WC, Dogs, Tigers, Port you would think will have head coach turnover in the next year or two

Anyway if he goes for it, I hope he does well

In: Nathan Buckley

Out: Adem Yze (GWS)

Buckley, who has previously said he would not leave Victoria while his children were still in school, said on Monday he would not consider any coaching position – with North Melbourne or any other club in the league – putting all conjecture to bed.

“It’s got nothing to do with the club. I can’t see myself coaching in the future,” Buckley said on SEN.

And I’d also love to see Yze make it on a personal level. He was one of my favourites as a player, and there have been no MFC players gone on to be full time AFL coaches in the era I’ve been a fanatic other than Clarkson, who in my mind only technically counts, as he was a journeyman.

What happened to Cameron Bruce, he seemed on the way when at Hawthorn and is now an assistant at Brisbane and you never hear of him in coaching conversations.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
