Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You're joking aren't you? Sparrow was good today.

Yes, Sparrow got a lot of the ball. But no, his decision making, momentum killing handballs and kicks, and getting in the way of his team mates was really, really bad. And he has done this for many weeks in a row.

Thought Sparrow was admirable in effort and reasonably good today in patches but his fundamentals are non AFL standard.

Was lucky enough to be at the game today, why is was not our best performance we got the job done in warm conditions.

After the game about 300 kids wanted a photo with Kozzy and he spent at least 30 minutes taking selfies and signing autographs. He was due for a big day out and delivered.

I’ve only read the first 3 pages, but surprised there hadn’t been a little more praise for Tomlinson. Thought he was pretty good today. Had one moment where he was out marked too easily, but otherwise he was really reliable. Played a good linkup role at times too.

Must have been watching a different game to me. He missed basic handballs when we are surging forward, his kicking is suspect, and he continually handballs to opposition in congestion in the guts.

My observations from being at the game. ANB was big, just relentless pressure. Hibberd was great, Viney was strong as usual, Tommo looked composed, Brown competed hard and obviously Kozi was amazing. It was quite warm sitting in the sun all day and the boys looked stuffed early in the 3rd, so great to take control and win comfortably in the end. Pro Dees crowd despite lots of Adelaide people living in Alice.

Far out. A significant bunch of posters went into this game telling us about how Port was in form, we were not in form, we weren't playing well and that we would likely lose.

We then proceed to win, and those same posters then complain about the way we won.

FFS. If you thought we were going to lose before the game, you should be celebrating right now.

It's the only time I haven't cringed with the "Oi, Oi, Oi" chant. "Kozzie, Kozzie, Kozzie, Oi, Oi, Oi" was music to my ears.

Good win. We weren’t great but the slingshot goals were promising. We are still really tight with our ball movement so I wonder how we will go against the slick Dogs.

But we needed that and thanks to the backline, Kozzi, Viney, Track and Langdon.

And Brown was better and so was Tommo.

I've only seen patches of the game but will hopefully catch the replay later on.

Got belted in the clearances which is disappointing but not altogether unexpected for our first game without Oliver in years. Obviously Pickett's game is a massive positive, not just for its outrageous quality but just to see him getting back into form. Brown's stats suggest he played his best game for a long time, which is also a positive. Lever's potential injury is a scare but happily Tomlinson looks like he's in good enough form to keep playing seniors if required.

Major room for improvement in the middle, and the Dogs are not a good opponent to come up against if we're not on song in that area of the ground, but we get Oliver back and Gawn and Jackson surely will find form at some point.

But with the flatness of the ladder from 1st to 7th,  a win today helps solidify our buffer. Over the last three weeks only Geelong and Collingwood have managed not to drop a game you'd expect them to win. The rest of our top 4/8 competitors have dropped at least one. Our only loss was to Geelong, unbeaten for two months and down the highway. We're not as far off it as some think.

Meanwhile today Port were a B-grade ruckman short of full strength who have to treat almost every game as an elimination final, we were missing the league's best player and two structurally critical players at both ends of the ground, playing a one-off 22-degree game in the middle of winter (warm enough for Langdon to go the short sleeves!), went goalless in the first quarter and fell behind in the third, but had the game put to bed halfway into the fourth with a solid 31 point lead. This wasn't a walk in the park game going in - almost no game for any side is - but we did precisely what we needed to do, and more.

And you went from attacking posters before the game to attacking posters after the game, can't you just be happy with a win?

"Attacking"? Where?

I'm expressing general frustration here at a group of posters (no one in particular) who prior to the game said we were going to lose and then after the win complained about the manner of our win. It's inherently inconsistent, but all too common on Demonland.

Edit: read my other post above yours, you'll see I'm very happy with the win.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
