Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

English has already resigned with Dogs for next two years till 2024.  You need to keep accurate when discussing trade issues as incorrect facts spoil any post in good faith.

It is indeed a bleak weekend for the club in the narrow context of season 2022, but this othering is surely a few fries short of a happy meal. Apart from the obvious, (i.e. who in their right mind seeks facts on Demonland?), what the hell is an incorrect fact?

It's not somuch his contract as any sane club would be demanding that Collingwood pick up half. It's the contract length if it doesn't work.

Unable to replace Cox who this time last year was unwanted.

If GWS loses players of the calibre they are suggested to lose they have a lot more "risk dollars" to spend than we have.

If going down this path Goldstein if available for a year is a far easier deal

Guys, most of you will not be pleased to hear this, however, I’m going to tell you what I know.
Despite the Coaches continual public support of Brodie, the Pies are keen to move him on IF they can get the right terms.  Naturally, Brodie, who is contracted, will not be forced to go to a Club unless he is totally satisfied that they are a successful Club on & off the field.

Right at this minute, there are just two Clubs that have had preliminary discussions with his management to get all the facts around his current contract, where his head is at, his physical condition etc etc.

I can tell you Melbourne is one of those two Clubs.

A lot of water to pass under the bridge, and I’m not saying at this point in time that it will happen, but I think it’s perfectly reasonable that the Dees would explore this in the likely event that Luke Jackson departs.

And he goes bang with another...!

Good get @goodwindees

Still staggered by this move, regardless of what draft pick we give up. Grundy has basically missed a whole season and is no spring chicken. Neither he or Gawn can play forward. We'll see how it pans out.

It will be a salary dump and he will go for a late pick and Pies paying a chunk. He holds the cards. They want his salary out.

They do the deal, or he stays for 5 years on full pay.

Does sound like we have accepted LJ going.

It's a brilliant move. Have the Filth pay the first mil a year, BG plays at Casey and comes in when Max needs a rest. Max plays until he's 40.

He's on massive coin, so regardless of the dump, we're still paying him at least $700k for 5 years.

I’d take Grundy he is still one of the premier rucks in the league if fit and I don’t believe any of his injuries are debilitating. Just a question of at what price. If pies are willing to cover some of the contract and not require much in the way of picks then I’m all for it. If we could get him by paying 650k and a 2nd round pick I think that is a win.

Yes probably $600k-$700k.

I would guess they would be doing it to preserve Max’s body and lengthen his career.

They then could get key forwards in the LJ trade, by getting one from Freo, plus a high pick to get another and maybe a Meek as the Insurance or a young rookie ruck.

Could solve most problems with the list in one hit.

I don’t really get posters saying no way to a 28 year old…. We are in the window now, anyone who can make us better even if it’s for only 3 years is absolutely worth a chance at another flag.

He hasn't been a premier ruckman for 2 years, and now has a series of injuries.

Grundy is a no brainer as long as we don’t pay overs <700K. He is definitely an upgrade on LJ and will be for at least the next 2 years.

Agree. Jacko may become a star but for now, Grundy would contribute much more - on the proviso his body is right to go in 2023.

I’d much rather 3 years solid service from him than 2 more years of patchy cameos from Jackson before he leaves anyway (would also be happy to see Jacko flourish at my expense)

Absolutely GCDee, especially when we are talking a second round draft pick for a player who we should get 50 - 100 games of A grade football. It is no different to us potentially bringing Hogan back at the end of this season.

Grundy in our fitness program, dropping some kg's over the summer (Like Max did) would be a decent get on 700k a year, it's worth the risk if the club and medical department have had a good look and think we can do a better job of managing his body.

I'm really pleased with this because Grundy is probably Max's biggest rival when fully fit, if we could get him for below market rate, it is a good get.

if it allows for Max to play as our deepest forward more often he becomes a very serious headache for opposition teams and gives us a real target that actually makes our forward line more suited to the long bombing style we're trying to play.

Last year his numbers were very decent.
Ranked above average in disposals, contested possessions and score involvements, ranked elite in clearances & average in hit outs to advantage and hit out wins.
can you imagine what his numbers would look like when he is the second banana rucking against the likes of Josh Bruce and jnr SOS?

compare that to LJ where is was above average in disposals and score involvements, average in contested possessions and below average in hit out wins, hit outs to advantage and clearances.

No dig at LJ, he is 8 years younger and going to be a star but pound for pound output Grundy is a better player today.
We have a real chance to win 3+ flags in the next 5-6 years.

If we can get Grundy on the $ LJ was going to take, with little trade equity we are essentially bettering that position plus obtaining valuable assets from the LJ trade to fix our forward line…

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
