Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would entertain Dow without a doubt.

Remember that Carlton's weakness for a while was big bodied midfielders which in part pushed Dow out. (as well as the fact that he was inconsistent in his form). But I really think they didn't utilise his strengths and he's been a bit lost as a player.

I can genuinely see a spot for him in our side as a compliment to our bull-at-a-gate midfield. He's got a burst of speed, great side-step and is composed when he feels comfortable at the level. And that's where I think we can come in. Celebrate his strengths, give him a role that really bring those strengths to our side and he'd flourish.

He'd also come on the cheap and for a former top 3 draft pick and a new environment is exactly what he needs.

Im a bit the same, think he could be a lovely wingman as he is a nice ball user.

Would like him if he’s cheap but I think he’d still command a little cash, and I don’t think he’d want to leave Carlton only to be stuck behind our mids.

Whilst his pace would be something different the biggest issue with his game is he’s a very ‘see ball get ball’ player without smarts. That means he struggles on the wing or forward. He gets lost and doesn’t defend.

We aren’t shifting our main mids out of the way to let Dow play an attacking on ball role. And I don’t think he’ll develop as a player unless he’s given the chance to do that.

Go and look at his draft profile and his strengths and weaknesses and the reason he went as high as he did.

He has smarts in spades, he just needs a defined role.

If ANB can play half forward, Jordan and Brayshaw on a wing then I'm sure a previous number 3 draft pick can learn to play a position.

I'd have him in our midfield rotation as is anyway. He can compete with Sparrow and Harmes for that spot over summer.

More competition for spots and lifts the standards of those he'd be competing with.

I don't agree.

He'd made the AA squad of 40 in his third and final year at the Crows and they considered him a future captain.

He also played off in a flag... all be it in a losing side.

A draft profile of a top 5 pick who can’t get a game doesn’t interest me. A lot of recruiters had some doubts on Dow and given his athleticism and ability to kick goals from the midfield that tells you something is missing.

Nibbler’s special with his off the ball running. JJ’s incredibly coachable and hard working, he’s quickly adapted to the positioning on the wing. Gus has flaws on the wing but a lot of strengths too. Not sure we can just list off our unfashionable players and assume others can do what they do.

Certainly would be happy to have Dow as competition for spots. I’m just not sure he’ll be a match. Last I heard he was linked to the Crows where he’d get a lot of opportunity.

I agree grundy does improve our list with Jackson going. The main issue i have at the moment is that i am not seeing any other conversations or rumors about melbourne chasing any other players, with a league of 17 other teams of maybe 40 players each we only have one target? really. you would think that someone would be hearing and talking if we were talking or interested in other players, maybe they only have eyes for the draft. but so far not impressed, other clubs are going out there making bids, and all i see is we are losing our players to them. What are we getting back in return, daft picks in the 30-60 range?

Do you think they would be telling us at this point? The FD over the last 5-6 years have done a very good job IMO. I trust them more than any group in the last 50 years to get the best they can.

I cannot believe that clubs like Richmond, Collingwood and the Geelong are in talks with players to make their list better and we just sit back and basically swap Jackson for Grundy.

Are we a destination club or just going to be a 1 year wonder?

It’s called list demographics. Geelong won the flag with 13 players over 30! They simple have to bring in talent. Richmond aren’t far behind in age.

We are at a different stage with our list.

Pies are getting rid of a promising key fwd to the Cats in Henry and an AA ruck to us while paying part of the salary

They are bringing in Frampton and McStay.

List better? Hell no

If Lobb isn't traded to a Vic team he will sit out for a year and claim mental health. He's already transitioned his life to Vic and requested a trade in successive years.

Will be interesting what happens with him after he sits out of the game for a year. Would Vic clubs still be keen on him at his age after a year on the sidelines?

I did wonder whether we were going to look to offload another contract in that $500k range, along with Tomlinson, and Hunt's contract nearer to probably $350-400k.

Giving Melksham and Hibberd one year deals on small dollars, along with a two year deal for Smith on small dollars, I reckon we're opening up cap space for a very big fish this year or next.

Nice presumption. It is all very handy - particularly if we are to play a better planned game style with fit players only to take the field. We must also overcome the 'favourites' syndrome, so the more fish we have swimming, the better we can address these matters.

Horrible, horrible time to be a North supporter.

However I’d feel much worse for them if they didn’t boo so often when we played them, and learnt the holding the ball rule.

What a mess

Does any other club spend so much energy trying to appear to play hard ball through the media?

What’s the point? He wants to go. Let him go and get a good deal done that suits you. It’s weird.

They strike me as a clear second behind Dodoro as being excruciating to deal with.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
