Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Time to go and get Deven Robertson.

We loved him in his draft year. He is apparently unhappy with lack of games at Brisbane and with Dunkley and Ashcroft coming in, that means he potentially has even less game-time now.

Brisbane will need picks to satisfy the Dogs and to get Ashcroft as F/S.

I hope we ask the question. He would be an upgrade on Harmes, Jordon, Sparrow or ANB at the least.

This. We track players we are keen on and given we have looked to add midfield depth recently it wouldn't surprise to see us have a look here.

Can't see how Brisbane gets both father/son prospects and dunkley without trading out a couple players on top of losing McStay and possibly Gardiner. Bulldogs won't be happy with a late first round pick for Dunkley.

Late first round is about right for Dunkley he is good solid midfielder not a matchwinner

Not sure he'd be an upgrade on Harmes but you're probably right about the others

The problem is he provides absolutely no point of different to our other mids

We simply need to add to our list if we want a top four spot next year so I'm intrigued to see what we do this trade period.

Significant growth will no longer come from our core who are entering their prime and Max, May, T Mac, BB will all be on the decline.

We have a window of crazy opportunity whilst our more senior players are still in strong form.

And I think it's time to make some tough calls on roles to Harmes, Hunt, Sparrow, Jordan, and ANB. I'd like some more dynamic players added to those positions and players who display attributes that compliment those of our core. Foot skills, composure, speed.

Needs to happen, Sydney, Collingwood, Brisbane and Carlton are not going away. And then there's a whole host of sides who will see big growth from their younger brigade.

We need to be aggressive.

Hypothetical trade: 3 suitors for Bedford, Essendon the keenest (assumption based only on media tittle tattle)  and so we trade him in exchange for their 3 round pick and a swap of 2nd round picks - then on trading their current 2nd round pick  (22/23) for Grundy. Thoughts? Could that get it done? Would it be a fair trade for all parties?

Yep, i might be in the minority, i just dont think Bedford is a senior AFL footballer. I would be more than happy to trade him if it allowed some other trades to happen. Bedford wont come back to haunt us, i believe anyway. Chandler is a more well rounded player.

Agree. But without many draft picks (aside from LJ picks) we may not be able to do too much.  ANB and T Mac were shopped around with no takers previously.  I reckon Hunt and Sparrow would attract interest though

Hunt is a free agent and can't imagine we'll get much compo for him should he leave.

Sparrow contracted and seems very much in Goody's plans.

Have you seen him play? He’s not very good. Tried to tag Oliver and got demolished. Not an outside runner so he doesn’t give us what Harmes and JJ do. Can’t pressure up forward line ANB.

Skills and ball winning for a mid are both ordinary. He’s still young with room to go but at the moment he’s pretty much a lesser version of Sparrow.

We loved Lewis Taylor in his draft year. That’s about as relevant as loving Dev is.

Harmes should not be traded .

He is one of our few mid size athletic players who can match the sydney types like Heney Mills etc -we need more of these types .

And he is a damn good footballer -

no way .

Harmes' inability to be consistent in his play from week to week makes him incredibly frustrating to watch.

We just need more reliable role players who do the basics to a high level consistently.

I'd just much rather a less contested player who is clean and uses the ball well than a player who is a bit of an all rounder but doesn't do anything especially well consistently.

These guys already complement our star players by bringing pressure, speed and work rate. I’d love for them to be more skilled too but super skilled role players are very hard to find. Whilst our game plan is built around Clarry, Tracc and Viney we aren’t going to line up with super skilled fringe mids and half forwards anyway, we can’t lose our 1 wood which is crash and bash.

Jason Taylor has an awful record outside the top 2 rounds of the draft and Tim Lamb’s favours conservative list management holding on to fringe players for way too long. It’s hard to see how shipping out our role players for at best late 2nds or 3rd rounds Ie. not much coming back in helps.

If we had replacements at Casey or if we were linked to someone like Amon, perhaps Bobby Hill, Acres etc to swap in for the right guy out I’d be for that.

I guess there’s still time for more players to declare their intentions but so far it’s all very quiet

Not sure where to put this and its not really worth of a new thread

revealed-north-s-draft-assistance-package

Fairly minimal really.  An extra 2nd and extra 3rd round, 2023 pick that must be used to trade this year for player(s).  What that does is fill out their draft picks this year which are:  1, 55, 66, 73.  And 2 extra rookie spots.

It is pleasing the AFL didn't give them a bunch of first round/end of first round picks since most of their recent pain was pretty much self inflicted by decimating their own list and FD staff.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
