Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My son supports North ( I know what can I say, my late father recruited him) and came home angry believing North will trade their pick 1. His North connection (unnamed) tells him that North will get Lobbe and Acres and possibly a future first-rounder for their pick 1 which will be traded to Freo who will then use it to trade for Jackson. That would mean MFC get to pick 1.

I immediately called bulltish but he is adamant that his mate always gets good mail. North need players not first-year recruits in his opinion.

There is no chance are giving up pick 1 for a deal that includes Lobb and Acres

Lobbe, Acres and 'possibly' a future first-rounder for Pick 1?

Can't see North doing that under Clarkson's watch!

He's explosive, hard and competitive and versatile and has a lot of growth left given his injury history.

I just think he'd be a good project and has some great scope.

Disagree, his disposal is fine. Definitely not laser, but no more inconsistent than Petracca, Brayshaw etc at the best of times.

Stocker’s a lovely kick of the footy. He’d be the best kick in our midfield (which isn’t hard)

The issue is he can’t play midfield because he can’t run.

He’s an ok defender but not quick enough for a rebounder and not a natural lockdown player.

I don’t mean to be harsh but lack of fitness (especially for a midfielder) + mental health issues is a giant red flag combination.

If he can’t develop his tank to midfield standards and he doesn’t have AFL level commitment to do so (which is fine, 99.9% of us don’t), then how does he suddenly get fit?

The talent is there but a psych eval and a Burgo style intervention would be needed for me to be interested.

Well Lloyd who coached him said on FC tonight he had poor disposal and guess where his brother works?

He knows why he was let go and disposal is at the top of the list.

Well all the mail has been about Lobb to Dogs and Acres to Blues. That would be a real turnaround and tbh I can't see it happening.

I could see the Roos trading pick 1 for the right deal, but that doesn't look like it.

If Clarko could get 2-3 players who make their 22 straight away, yes I am sure he would go for it.

Logue and Bailey would be a great start, maybe Meek thrown in.

From Foxfooty:

The Herald Sun reports both the Bombers and Kangaroos have the cash to lure 2021 Coleman medallist McKay from the Blues, who have a potential cap-squeeze in the coming years with plenty of young talent needing new contracts.

McKay is due to become a free agent at the end of the 2023 season, as was teammate Charlie Curnow before he recommitted on a six-year deal ahead of Round 23.

Carlton believe they will be able to convince McKay to stay - both on financial grounds, and because of how he feels about the club - but a massive rival offer could make things interesting

I'd rather use the Jackson picks and $ to get McKay THIS YEAR in his pre FA year.  If he goes as an FA next year and Carlton improve the best they will get is a mid teens compo pick.  We took Steven May and Hawks took Brian Lake in their pre FA year.

Forget Grundy.  We need to fix our forward line, pronto! Get a lesser ruck support and McKay then Max can do what he does best:  6 x AA ruckman.

Getting McKay this year would give us a much better balanced team.  Let's not wait!

Obviously we need to get rid of LJ and probably a few more players to offer a 5 yr $4.5m+ Deal.

I'd be just happy to pick up Grundy. We have van Rooyen and can pick up another tall forward with Freo's first rnd pick.

I have a Carlton supporting mate who said they would be happy to part with McKay due to inconsistency - granted, this means nothing but I can’t believe the thought of giving him up.

I was shocked.

I really hope we are at least sounding him out

Well they are lowballing him and apparently pushing him out the door. They also don’t appear to be desperate to keep Lobb.

Obviously dumping salary to get somebody in.

I'd be incredibly disappointed if we're not into him in a big way!

Surely we're not putting all our chips into this Brodie Grundy basket ahead of McKay who fits a much bigger need for our list moving forward.

The irony, we could have drafted him in lieu of Weideman...

Interesting about Ratagolea. I love his attack on the footy. He also hits packs very hard. But the outcome seems about the same as that of Weid. Lots of effort, gets to contests, but rarely actually takes the mark.

Perhaps the difference is the physical impact on the contest.  Ratagolea is like Casboult - everyone in the marking contest feels the thump of his presence. At the right price, maybe this means he is a good option and fit for the Dees.

Not fully convinced, but worth a ponder.

Casboult has vice like marking, but struggles to kick straight. Don't think the comparison works.

Esava is an athlete trying to become a footballer. This is coming from someone who worked a little bit with him when he was coming through the Murray Bushie ranks alongside Clayton Oliver.

His athletic traits are impressive but he is also a pretty poor runner. Goes missing way too often in games and struggles to run out games. Don't ever really rely on him playing as a full time ruckman unless he builds his tank and stamina.

Casboult is the one player in the entire competition that best suits our forward half game plan in my opinion. He was fantastic this year for the Suns. He would take 2-3 contested marks a game that cause teams to panic in the air, and therefore bring Koz into the game more.

I’ve thought all season he’d make us a 2 goal a game better side.

You don't rate Bedford, Lauire and Chandler?  Not sure who is around that is better than at least one of them.

Wondering who would a new 'pressure small' displace from our starting 22?

Everyone seems to be forgetting Andy Moniz Wakefield.  I think he has huge potential to be a very dangerous forward and has more chance of becoming a valuable AFL player than Bedford and Chandler.

Laurie, no.  Not consistent enough at VFL.  (Had 5 disposals last game).

Bedford is excellent for picl 70+? but cant get the ball.  Bedford and Chandler would get games with teams out of the 8.

Chicken and egg scenario I guess. Could Bedford and Chandler have been better prospects if they had the game time this year to aid their development or do they just not cut it at the level in the first place?

That one is for the court of Demonland to decide..

Thanks for the insight, he definitely is a great athlete. But too much explosiveness/fast twitch muscle can be a detriment due to the cardio demands of AFL.

Sounds like Clarkson doesn't want to rebuild. He wants to hit the ground running if this is remotely true.

Maybe the infamous war chest will finally get some use!

I can’t see any way Clarko is interested in a rebuild, he’ll finish his contract and North will only be marginally better off. He’s too proud/arrogant for that

they've got aish and NOD on the wings already plus they put liam henry through there and erasmus/johnson from last years draft and rookie karl warner as well as hughes and wilson who played snr games there, they can afford to let him go if it means not overpaying fringe players.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
