Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why would we go after an inside mid when Brayshaw can't get a game there.

Bruhn will help our sal cap but we have a bunch of players competing for that spot and a few more yet to debut.

He'd be an upgrade on Sparrow.

That would only work if Sparrow left, which isn't likely.

Just not sure we need another inside mid.  Can think of other list priorities.

We have a healthy and talented list. Outside of a tall forward in their prime - any recruitment isn’t going to ‘needs based’ but you have to do it.

Ward might retire? Still some quality players in the midfield. Not much down back or fwd. and Kelly & Whitfield should be dominating right now and they are far from it. Something smells there

I hope we’re putting work into getting Finn Callaghan back from GWS, he still hasn’t extended his initial 2 year deal, due to come out next year. Would probably have some interest in playing alongside his lifelong best mate in Blake Howes.

I was hoping the same with Josh Kelly and Salem a while back.....

Ah well

Glad you brought this up. With the exodus about to occur at the Giants they would be pretty nervous with this one especially as he hasn't signed the contract extension that's already been offered to him.

Finn Callaghan would cost a lot in terms of pick/player swap. Is he outside or inside?

The saying goes that a team can never have enough mids, but I think our priority should be an established KPF

Maybe we can do both. If, if Dogga and Gus leave we might have the picks and cap space to fill one or two of our desperate needs: a quality KPF, a classy outside mid and/or a developing ruck

One thing I know for sure, we are a destination club with excellent draft and recruitment staff. We won't die wondering

He's a bit of both. He's similar to Bontempelli in terms of playing style.

I agree that a gun KPF would be ideal, but unfortunately there isn't any quality out there that's available.

If it was me, I'd be bold and offer a truck load to Max King from the Saints. He's playing like a guy that's clearly frustrated and the Saints are about to go balls deep with their list.

Their  age demographic and list management is poor, and I can see a significant decline over the next few years.

Our midfield depth is a media myth

We're too light for rotations (assuming brayshaw never plays in the guts again)

Our second tier mids in Sparrow and Harmes are among the worst in the comp

Rate Jordon but he's a utility sort you can put anywhere and is unlikely to be a starting centebounce midfielder

That's a big call DD36, I like it!

Imagine King, BBB and Tmac vying for KPF spots...

Would have to be over $1mill for at least 5 years. Do we have that cap space?

Would think that Lobb and Meek as part of a Dogga deal might be closer to the mark.

Lobb + Meek + '22 or '23 first rounder for Jackson (i know... wait for 'Land to explode), which perhaps leaves us to find picks or player swaps for a classy mid

Really? Sparrow and Harmes amongst worst second tier mids in the comp?

That's rubbish

No matter what happens with Dogga, I’d still be keen to ask the Swans about the availability of Haydn McLean.  Big bodied 197cm Forward/2nd Ruck. Good goalkicker, good mark.  Behind Franklin, McDonald and Reid as a forward. Behind Hickey and Ladhams as a ruck. Would appeal to us and brings physical presence.

He would be very handy for us and give Swans more cap room to sign Buddy and their stars.

Don't have to go back any further than last week to see Harmes' and Sparrow's worth when the game was up for grabs. They would be most welcome additions to any midfield group. People really do offer up some tripe when sitting within arm's reach of a keyboard.

They play a different role to the pure accumulators... often lock down and run off!

we want picks.. minimum 2 first rounders. Of course we want a Tall forward, but ideally from Freo we want minimum 2 first round picks this year.

Agreed. If Dogga goes, we definitely want one pick within top 10, and one pick within top 16.

Sparrow and Harmes are going to go missing from time to time because we have a set midfield who dominate minutes in the middle.

Therefore, mids outside of the big 3 are always going to have another role that is their dominate role. It’s like the back up ruck - they have to be a good forward THEN a decent ruckman around the ground.

Same with the flankers that alternate into the midfield - they have to be good forwards AND good mids. That is such a hard trade off and makes any progression from Kozzi into the middle valuable and what ANB does for Petracca (blocking, defensive running) invaluable.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
