Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

JVR was better than good, he was easily the best forward on ground, and after having to play the second ruck for large parts of the game I was impressed with his engine going up against Ceglar and then taking mark after mark.  So unused to seeing a Melbourne player take contested marks (he took 6).  He also was able to spoil to advantage and followed up.  This game was just a good example of why Weideman is absolute toast - this kid is the real deal.

Other stand outs tonight were Dunstan - he was pivotal to the win, even if Laurie got some cream on the outside and was good with it.  Dunstan is a cut above - and deserves another go, good on him.

Still gushing about JVR, what a game.

Laurie, JVR, Hunt, Dunstan and Chandler all put their hands up for selection.

At the very least, Oliver is out for Dunstan. Laurie and Chandler should be in for Spargo and Bedford. Hunt should be in for Bowey. If we change our forward structure, JVR comes in for Sparrow or ANB.

Not many would have predicted how well Bowey would play in 2021 (although it was obvious after just one game that he was the real deal). If we're going to debut JVR or Laurie, we should do it soon.

Hunt has to come in for Sparrow after that performance IMV.  Bowey needs a rest for Laurie who was superb tonight.

Hunt was the instigator of our come back from about half way through the third and has earned a recall.  While all others were handballing to players two to five feet away bringing more pressure.... or trying to pinpoint passes from the back pocket under shizen conditions when we were still slightly behind, Hunt said "stuff this...im gonna get it, break lines and roost it deep into our forward half".

In addition he intercepted brilliantly on a number of occasions a kick behind play just back of the square and didnt hesistate to shoot low raking kicks into the hot spots putting the puddy cats under immense pressure in 1 v 1s giving our forwards a decent chance.

Baker & Mitch also did the same on a few occasions.

Thought Mitch actually had a decent game without really hitting the scoreboard but very tough conditions.

Weid also presented well after half time i reckon.

Must be the Hokey-Cokey Round.  We had one foot in the grave.

Wouldn't promote Dunstan. His disposal was poor.  Possibly, Laurie or Chandler for Oliver.  Generally in the third quarter all disposal was poor and no-one really pressed for the Seniors.

Would promote JVR to give him a taste of the big time,  Weed and MBrown have been tried as forwards and found wanting.

The boys didn't really try in the third quarter.  Often a Casey player was contesting for a bobbling ball against 3 or 4 Cats and his team-mates were all waiting 3 metres out, to see what happened.  When a couple of Cats were running the ball  through the wing to HFF, the Casey boys were just escorting them a few metres in-field.  No-one was sprinting back to help the defence.  Reminds me of MFC 2003.

Didn't see the first half :(

Jesus that was some performance by Bailey Laurie. I've never seen a kid that young just so ridiculously clean and handle the ball like it was dry weather. Honestly would drop Spargo for Bailey. His work rate also was extremely high. We certainly have a good one here..

JVR took 6 contested marks in one of the wettest and shocking conditions you'll see at Geelong. Calling it now but the kid will be a star at AFL level.

Thought Dunstan was really exceptional.  He obviously comes straight in for Oliver next week. Sparrow considers himself very lucky there...

You clearly didn't watch the last quarter either.

Wow that is some comeback I had written us off, Laurie Hunt, JVR, Chandler and Dunstan all came good at the same time. Looking forward to seeing Hunt, Laurie and Dunstan and maybe JVR playing in Alice Sunday week. That was a gutsy come from behind win, we have a great team at Casey.

No, I did see the last quarter which was a good effort.

Having said that when the final siren blew, the Cats had still kicked 8 in a row in the middle of the game due to an apparent lack of effort or possibly a poor game style.  If you accept second-class efforts with high-points in between, you may as well support the Saints or the Bombers; they will eventually slaughter another team unexpectedly.

Bro relax, we won.

The conditions on the night meant it would be difficult for anyone to really "shine". Having said that I'm starting to see what Jason Taylor saw in "Bill"

None stood out

JVR continuing to audition and looking good for 2023.

Chandler... two purple patches with little between

Weid.. struggled but not disgraced

Hunt... a definite maybe

Rivers... needs to learn how to impose himself skills wise

Dunstan.. okay

Baker... papers stamped

Laurie...need to see more of his defensive side

Tomlinson...lumbering but it was wet

Woewodin..ask me in 2023

Of the above I think Hunt and perhaps Weid or Chandler are possible selections for the red centre

PS This game showed how low we are on ruck stocks

It's great to see Laurie and Roo boy play well but I doubt any of them will debut. Weideman still must be in front of van Rooyen even though he's playing good football and Dunstan will come in for Clarry that's why we picked him up. I think Bedford is a certainty to be dropped been poor but the rest of the out of form players that have been mentioned will be given another chance to redeem themselves.

Reckon Laurie is a sneaky outside chance for debut?

Laurie I believe has already played one game for Melbourne this year.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
