Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A mixed bag from bigfooty:

  • Expecting to win this. Go cats.
  • This is the game.  Without Stewart, potentially without Stanley.  I’m for once, not confident at all.
  • Can't show our full hand but Scott needs to do something different. This team has our number in recent years.
  • We will also see how some of the inexperienced players hold up to the pressure. Z. Guthrie, Holmes, De Koning, Close, Stengle .
  • Demons are going ok but not as formidable as the back end of last year. I reckon we are in this up to our ears on current form.
  • If we spend half the game kicking it down lever and May’s throats like we did against Richmond we are going to be in all sorts of trouble
  • I can’t forget the nightmares of last year. Both games V Melbourne.  I can see us getting to a decent lead early and them then reeling us back in.
  • Melbourne by 25 points.  We are due for a loss and they are too good.
  • Would like to win but quite happy to lose and take some learnings out, hopefully we can be better come finals.
  • While a lot of the names are the same I think we are better placed to face Melbourne than last year.
  • We could have played a couple of kids last night and still won the game. Now Dad's Army will have to front up again on Thursday night.
  • Not expecting a win here.  I just want to see if our midfield is any chance of holding it together later in the year.  They should smack us in the middle.
  • We are a good chance, but so are they, and they will almost certainly bring their best footy and they play K.Park pretty well.
  • Ii would love this upcoming game against Melb to be at the MCG - to see how Geel would measure up against the reignining premiers on the
  • All those years of handing them out a hiding. They will never forget it. They rested Jackson for a reason. This is the game they want. I don't see us beating them for a while yet.
  • I wouldn't care if we lose but if we could possibility unearth 1 or 2 flaws in their game so that if we meet again in the finals, we can try to expose that weakness.
  • Melbourne are beatable.  Put pressure on and get good ball to our forwards.
  • Big game to show we are not just a top contender but we are here for the main course.
  • Yep. That round 23 defeat imo gave them the belief to win the flag.  Massive sliding doors moment.

My favourites:

  • I knew i shouldnt have tried to have a proper discussion with you.  Because honestly it is like dancing with a Cobra snake
  • Memo to players and coaches: if the game is close in the final minute and we have possession of the ball, DO NOT :
    •   Kick out on the full
    •  Punch the ball into the stand giving away a 50m penalty
    •  Fail to man up on Max Gawn at the top of the goal square

I'm tipping Cats and Dees as top two regardless of the outcome of this match.

But a win for either is a massive mental victory:

  • Cats will be playing for revenge;  Dees for mental dominance.
  • A good win for them and they will feel vindicated and go into a Final with a swagger.  A good win for us and the mental scarring will be complete.

Dees to win by 1 point after being 4 goals down.  That should finish off their mental scarring!!

On second thoughts not sure I could cope with such a close game so perhaps:  Dees to win by 2 goals after being 4 goals down...

So they have ‘those’ types of posters on opposition boards as well? 😄

They might if they play an i/state team.

But with a chunk of KP being rebuilt I doubt it, especially as Lions and Swans have a decent following in Melbourne who turn up to their Vic games.

More likely to play at Marvel.

Other Vic teams will all be at the G which means not many teams will get a Home ground advantage.

They’ll only ever get a home final against a no name side like Freo or GWS.
Another Vic Club would see 40 000 miss out when it could’ve been at the G.

Would we have gotten the fifty after Close’s brain fade after Guthrie kicking it out on the full if there was a crowd there to sway the umpire? It’s debatable.

Cats have proven to be one of the most arrogant clubs now and their supporters aren’t far behind. Most other clubs hate them which is probably due to their sustained success and Dangerfield (he thinks he is god’s gift to footy). Hope we win this one more than any other home and away match.

Didn't Dangerfield leave Adelaide to win premierships?

Awwww. Take the word flag and replace the 'a' with an 'o'

While Dangerfield is rated as a champion he has performed poorly in finals.  He is a H & A specialist.  He is no Mr September!

Koladshnknininiisfji is a confirmed out. So they are undersized down back. Will probably mean Blicavs plays a permanent back and Henry will be moved backwards as well giving us some ascendency to have some favourable match-ups our D50.

Their midfield is dangerous and experienced but is aging so hopefully we can expose them by hard running both ways. It will be interesting to see how they recover on the short 5 day turn around.

Its a genuine 50-50 game and will go a long way to securing a top 2 spot. The game will be close +/- 2 goals.

I actually think their midfield is average. Their forwardline is their strength.

I jumped around our lounge room like a wild man. My wife didn't know what was going on. Best H&A win ever

The next best was the 2017 win v West Coast when we kicked 3 late goals to snatch the win. That was pretty special as well

Due to his age he plays like a champion for only about a quarter.  After that he can be a passenger.

Even with a totally unbiased view, this game should not be played in front of 21,000 people

Because it's on a Thursday night, the game is by default, classed as a blockbuster event plus ... it's 1 vs 2

If they are going to schedule a game in Melbourne's winter on a Thursday night, at least play the game under the roof at Docklands where 50,000 can get to see the game live

Shocking scheduling

In their defence it was 1 v 6 (or something like that) when they scheduled it

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
