Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pretty sure we have a "No D***head Policy"

I call (mild) B.S.

We have one S.May on our list who is a repeat offender.

Exceptions made considering the talent at hand.

Hands like trampolines - the ball just bounces out of them. Seems to lack upper body strength. He’s not exploiting his reach the way he was last year. This is in contrast to TMac - I think they are much better in tandem

The injury to Tmac has alot to do with this, he is getting double, triple teamed at every contest.

The coaching staff would be also reiterating to bring the ball to ground at all cost which to be fair he is doing and the smalls have been going to work in the last couple of weeks.

I know he hasn't been brilliant in the way of Marks and goals but is providing a reference point for our smalls to crumb and go to work.

If that is the case, we use him as a decoy and have teams guessing what we are doing. Onfield leadership need to identify this as it may change within the game.

i.e. if he is getting double or triple teamed, lead to the fat-side /  open of the ground and then have Fritta and/or Brown / Weid run to the ball carrier leaving the other in the goal square. This is forward craft and will always have opposition defense guessing which equals free kicks or aerial domination.

We saw some improvement against Adelaide in shorter / better kicks rather than kicking it in deep without thinking. Some of this was also a result of quicker ball movement, meaning opposition had less time to flood back.

I think there are quite large differences between someone like May and someone like De Goey or Tex Walker. I don't think they are in the same category.

But yes May can clearly be a DH

I remember when we failed to take Jack Darling all those years back because he was rumoured to be a bit rough around the edges and took Lucas Cook instead still haunts me. Sometimes you have to rely on your coaching fraternity to sort those behaviour issues out but then again we may have lacked that finesse at the time!!

What we are all talking about is our forwards not getting a fair go, come on stop beating around the bush and say it. We have to hold it longer  Be more viciously attacked around the neck, not dispute, unlike every other forward in the comp, and get away with it, and lastly don't think you get tripped when you know you have or arm chopped when you have as well..

Yeah, Bails and Neeldy would have had him on the straight and narrow in no time.

Every other club passed on JD too.  He went at pick 26 and would have been a disaster at the Dees.

Garry Lyon was spot on tonight, having Brown in his sights for soft efforts in the Good, Bad and Ugly segment. Brown is a passenger at the moment.

Maybe Fat Tony but every time he goes for the pill he has 2 or 3 oppo players on him. Rarely gets out marked so therefore he is bringing ball to the ground. This is where the likes of Picket etc. need to be. I know BB is 7 foot 20 and needs to impose more but let's wait and see if this happens leading to finals. Still have a little bit of faith in him.

DISLIKES - BEN BROWN

Ben Brown has been targeted inside 50m one-on-one 45 times this season. He has taken one mark from those battles — a junk-time grab on Marcus Adams (Lions) late in the fourth quarter. He has been out-marked eight times. The Demons don’t trust Sam Weideman or Mitch Brown and so it’s a mighty concern for Melbourne as the absence of Tom McDonald — the swingman they attempted to offload in 2020 — aches. On Thursday night the Dees took six marks inside 50m, their equal fewest this season, and the disconnection is also disarming Kozzie Pickett and Charlie Spargo while Bayley Fritsch has been accused of being goal hungry. Contrast Brown’s numbers to Geelong goliath Tom Hawkins, who gobbles 38 per cent of his one-on-ones. The next best in the AFL is Darcy Cameron (Collingwood), who marks 25 per cent of his one-on-ones.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
