Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Turning Hogan into May

With all the talk of Freo interest in Jacko.  Got me thinking about our recent trading history with them ie the Hogan trade.  Anyway, went down a rabbit hole trying to trace this trade through.

In effect, looked like we turned Hogan into May.  In that context I found this article: AFL 2020: Steven May trade to Melbourne, Ben King Gold Coast Suns, AFL draft, Jake Lever Adelaide (foxsports.com.au)

There are some absolutely priceless quotes in there from David King.  Hindsight is 20/20.

Enjoy D'Landers - and let's trust our list team to get the job done (again).

“They’ve gone May and Lever as part of their big spend, who are very good players, but what influence can they really have on winning games of football?” David King.

The trades for Lever and May are critical for this club. Not so much the fact that we got the trade across the line but it reflects the time and work that goes into these situations.

We were into these for quite a while before the trades were done. We had identified the players we wanted to fit the building strategy we had in place, worked to get the currency so the trades could be made and made sure we had the salary cap structure to fit them in and keep them happy.

I am sure we are in a similar position of tracking other players we see as possible trades with an eye in the future.

We have got other trades across the line because of $$$$.

When S May hears the pitch and tells his manager just get him to the MFC no matter what something special is happening.

He does, but i applaud him for having an opinion. Others just skirt around the edges not wanting to upset people. He is also quite balanced as is Montagna and have plenty of depth and analysis to their opinion.

They will get it wrong just as many times as they get it right.

This is the same Montagna that had the saints thrashing the dees in round 8 and only one week ago had us possibly missing finals? He has done good analysis but when it comes to us and his beloved saints he lets emotion get in the way and makes some very, VERY, stupid calls.

I think they all have made stupid, emotional calls but if you follow some of the pre-match programs, they all have to make an outrageous 'tip' on the game. When they get it right they look like oracles and conversely, like fools when they get it wrong - its all for a bit of entertainment.

If you were asked for a genuine tip/insight, you'd find that most commentators would find it a difficult proposition to actually predict what is going to happen with lots of ums and ahhs and caveats, which would make for some really boring TV.

There are specific commentators like Brereton, Dwayno Gerard Whately (to a lesser extent) who i just cannot stand as they let their bias continually stand in the way of their judgement and others that have no clue (BT, James Brayshaw, Robbo etc). But thats just me.

That article is genuinely hilarious.

I don't applaud people for just having an opinion. I could say that Clayton Oliver is a hack and only gets cheap, easy possessions. I'd be a f#@$%ng [censored], but you'd applaud me for having an opinion.

That's pretty much how I rate David King's opinion.

Yep, I read the title as

What would i have to do to turn Hogan into May, in like a physical sense.,

So I thought of nights out at the boxing, fancy restaurants, beverages, crap haircut....

but then...

6 drops of essence of terror

5 drops of sinister sauce

(yes you can lick the spoon)

and tip the tincture of tenderness down the toilet.

That should do it.

I agree with the ones you can’t stand and my appalling footy tipping in 2022 means that I appreciate how difficult an in the spot prediction can be. But both of Montagnas very, very wrong statements about us (that we would get smashed by the saints and that it was possible we would miss finals) were in early in the week articles, not pre-game stuff. He clearly dislikes us, like most of the football media it must be said, and always goes the negative narrative on Melbourne to his detriment.

Ahh, David King.

His main comment on the 2019 draft was to question Melbourne's selection of each of Jackson and Pickett as being 'not what the club really needs' and overpaying for both.

I don't like it when people are paid well to do things which I (and many others) could do better with little effort.

Really? I dont get that vibe from Montagna at all. I remember him getting onto us quite early last year as the favorite and never for a moment - even when we were dropping games - went off us.

Well if what you say is true, then ill play closer attention to him. But id still take those two over most in the journalism industry.

Perhaps leaving the Dees led to his downfall. I understand why he left . As a club we gained more from the trade as per Hogan to Freo , May to demons was a win for us.  I would take him back for 3Rd or 4th rounder but would have to prove himself in the reserves either as a forward or defender.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
